In three months I reduced my cholesterol from 235 to 185 by eating 1/2 cup of pinto beans daily.

I also have the genetic high cholesterol. I refused the statins from my GP. Did my research and I am using a mixture of Apple cider vinegar, ginger and lemon juice daily. Also 2 moringa capsules and 2tbsp of chia seeds daily. Only extra virgin olive oil and omega 3 supplement. Cholesterol down from 7.9 to 6 in four weeks. I am from South Africa.

OK 30 grams of fiber. Mine is high too...genetics play a role, and went off HRT. So thank u! I can't do protein shakes except in the summer.

Thanks for watching! Why can you only do protein shakes in the summer? The fiber supplements can also be added to yogurt as another option, or you can also make chia seed protein pudding.

Does lowering protein have an effect on cholesterol?

I wouldn't recommend lowering overall protein, but you can adjust the type of protein to leaner versions. You'd want to look at how many saturated fats you are getting from protein compared to unsaturated fat sources. Protein is the number one macro, especially over 40. You want to make sure you're getting at least 80% of your ideal body weight in protein grams daily. Here's a video I did on protein for more info: ruclips.net/video/s_Jngk4w1oo/видео.html
