At least my 16 Lane local center had 12 Lanes without bumpers and Lanes 13-16 have bumpers and to make things better, Lanes 13-16 aren't working for 5 Months now after the place being reopened for 2 Years due to the Pandemic.

I've been watching your vids for a minute now and getting some ideas for beer league night for the guys and gals. I think we are going to do a plastic ball only strike challenge or top score. If we do top score, if you don't strike you cannot bowl straight at your spares, have to hook at them with the ole plastic ball. Would love to see you and Kevin do this on heavy oil or on scorched lanes lol.

Haha, a center near me has "Hyper Bowling". The bumpers are extremely stout, meant to be hit hard. They've got LEDs that change color & the lights move. The goal is to hit certain color lights in the bumpers while knocking down as many pins as possible. As a long time league bowler, it's really hard for me to throw at a bumper, lol.

We played 'Cricket Bowling' a fair few times, few of us occasionally hit 200+. Normal game, with gutters, HOUSE pattern, for us 100 is a good score!
PBA pro, regularly gets high 200s with unfriendly patterns in a normal game, hits sub-100 playing cricket.....
Although this seems to be a common theme on bowling channels playing novelty rules (such as cricket), pros are sooo used to playing one way (relying on the oil and the hook) that games where just lobbing it arrow straight at a certain point they struggle with!

DO NOT Start swinging the ball higher and faster...movde your feet quiker and move a little back on the approach! The guys who throw it the fastest have a low backswing, examples troup and simo!

Ignoring energy loss due to impact with the bumpers and side spin, the geometry on this is actually pretty simple. Release the ball 19 boards away from first bumper, and hit first bumper at (30/n) feet down the lane where n is the number of bounces you are going for.
Obviously more bounces is higher entry angle, but also more energy loss and higher margin for error. Personally I feel like 2 bounces (first bounce at the arrows), seems fairly doable.

You could bowl straight when using bumpers but it kinda defeats the purpose of using the bumpers.
