anyone else come back to these acoustic videos of Brian late at night all these years later? it's weirdly comforting the way it takes me back to the hurt I felt then when I first heard these
"What is a poet? An unhappy person who conceals profound anguish in his heart but whose lips are so formed that as sighs and cries pass over them they sound like beautiful music." -Søren Kierkegaard
"... And people flock around the poet and say: 'Sing again soon' - that is, 'May new sufferings torment your soul but your lips be fashioned as before, for the cry would only frighten us, but the music, that is blissful.” Kierkegaard is so good.
Paul McCartney seems to me like one of the happiest loving guys around. He's the reSon I clicked on this video I thought it was a Beatles cover. Just look at some of history's greatest musicians, bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff mangum all made music that shared their joy. Even lennons best songs like strawberry fields, happiness is a warm gun, across the universe share his happiness with the world despite history depicting him as a whining bitch. Its easy to write cynical songs but if u rly look at the biggest commercial and artistic successes, they are expressions of genuine spiritual love. Think what u will, there was a time in my life when I only listened to sad music bc the other shit felt fake to me. But put on bob Marleys redemption song and tell me that's not a beautiful genuine song
This is such a beautiful song. A friend introduced me to his acoustic stuff. I love it! The bit that makes me tear up is his facial expression at the end. Such emotion. You can tell. This song means something to him...
This guys music made me go to making music that had meaning, substance and heart. I haven't been in a hardcore punk, hardcore or metal band since. And that was the best thing that ever happened to me. And since him I dropped my Hatebreed, Crowbar and Biohazard for Springsteen, Tom Waits and Greg Dulli. And I haven't had a bad show or bad time since. Every beer from here on out is an unspoken toast to you, Mr. Fallon.
Been almost 3 months now. She once said that 3 months is how long it takes to recover from any tragedy. Been 3 months, and yet here I am 1000km away now crying into my laptop.
+Luke Knapton Keep believing my friend. Try and remember the answer is never at the bottom of the bottle. I promise you it usually makes things worse. Keep believing.
just how can this be disliked? if u came here in the first place thinking it's a Beatles cover, than you must already have an open mind to other music as Paul McCartney and John Lennon is/was terrific and eclectic songwriters. so you are either closed minded to other talent or you have no soul, because Brian Fallon is flat out amazing.
Song always makes me think of the people i've loved who are longer in my life for whatever reason i'm still not sure if time is a healer.. pissed of that TGA are on a break but excited for Brian's solo work
You could tell he was holding tears back. Brian Fallon acoustic is amazing. His songs are amazing, and heartfelt . I have to hold back tears every time i hear this. amazing
Love you Brian.. You helped me though my divorce when I wanted to call it.. I’m so glad you got your shit together and turned it into something beautiful
This song gets into my bones it makes me think of my own mr f that's no longer mine , the emotion in Brian's face is what I'm feeling , I can feel what he did , I'm so sad it hurts x
Brian Fallon acoustic is as good as it gets. I could watch these videos and listen to these versions of the songs over and over until the day I die. Like his tattoo says: You Made Me Cry.
I just happened to put this on, for a bit of background music, but I had to stop and watch and listen. I forgot what I was doing and still can't remeber. so raw.
I feel bad for people who can't feel the emotion in TGA music, acoustic or not. As the earlier comment said, listening to this knowing Brian F went through a divorce, only enhances the emotions in this song. This makes me so sad, and really happy at the same time.
I've been listening to the gaslight anthem a lot lately and I do feel the same way. A lot of what he wrote earlier seem to be the songs that will speak to himself later on. I feel like he puts his heart into his songs so much that we feel his pain now.
Damn. He looks like the second the camera stopped rolling he jut broke down into tears. Man, this amazing person can make even the toughest hardest criminals feel the deepest pain...
OMFG what a legend power, heart, grace and pure passion. Dosn't matter what music you lik you just got to stand back and respect this man and i hope he does save rock and roll and bring it back to its formar gloary and i'm not even a full on rock head. amazing truely amazing!!1
You can just tell he's sad when he sings it. Almost as if you know the girl who broke that heart. When I play this I know her. Emotions suck but they're wonderful and they make beautiful music.
He may not have the best voice, but he got something and he sings the lyrics and plays the music with so much passion and feeling and he believes everything he says, it's just beautiful. He melts my heart.
While listening to this and feeling Brian share his pain and agony (if you can't hear it you are missing out) let me remind you that on the side of brians neck he has a tattoo that reads "You made me cry" The Pain is real
+Andrew Rhone (RacewayElko) That tattoo is actually part of another one the other side of his neck. They're lyrics to an Eric Clapton song: "Bell Bottom Blues/You Made Me Cry"
On President Street, you'll find the sisters Praying over My city's heart While you, you never knew Turns to it's disciples Who feels the pressure heat coming on hot? And If all was well And your heart could find the words Would we be for better baby Would we be for worse And if there was a way To navigate your seas If tonight my true love Did belong to me And Juliet she's just smoking by the window Saying stone cold I believe in you Romeo And the raindrops in the cars Keep on falling from off the bars Blocking out a good song Playing on the radio And If all was well And your heart could find the words Would we be for better baby Would we be for worse And if there was a way To navigate your seas If tonight my true love (Did belong to me) Well I've been down I've been out Had my head and my heart kicked around I've been down I've been out Had my head and my heart kicked around But in the quiet of the night Romeo's mind is burning From putting all of his burn Into them sermons And If all was well And your heart could find the words Would we be for better baby Would we be for worse And if there was a way To navigate your seas If tonight my true love Did belong to me (Do you miss her right now?) funny how you wrote this because i was actully at his concert yesterday (28th) in Gothenborg, Sweden, gonna upload some clips later it was an awesome concert and the best thing that i have ever went to / done in my life!
The whole intro and verse are these chords: a G F C It looks like this: a x02210 G 32001x F x0321x C x32010 If You got any more questions, feel free to ask, hope You're gonna have fun playing it. c:
Im the same as you man, I love the gaslight Anthem, Springsteen, Neil Young, etc but I love Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, etc. I am also a huge Surf Rock and Rockabilly fan as well!
@FallonFangirl That tattoo is one of two he has on either side of his neck: "Bell Bottom Blues" & "You Made Me Cry." Both sides take lyrics from the song "Bell Bottom Blues" by Derek & The Dominos.
This fucking song. Son of a bitch. I feel just like that right now. I feel just like that so much that I'm writing a damn youtube comment. "if all was well, and you're heart could find the words, would we be for better baby or would we be for worse." The unspoken wedding vows in between those lines cut. When you love someone madly and the person doesn't love you back.
man, the things that Juliets have said to Romeos over the years... aaaah just look at his face. i love watching him do acoustic versions, even though his voice is not as technically good, because he really takes ownership of the song and you can see what each part really means to him. holy shit.
Brian Fallon isn't into drugs or promiscuity or the rock and roll lifestyle, and despite the fact he clearly is a very talented man he doesn't come across as arrogant, but in fact very humble. He doesn't pull crazy stunts like an attention seeker just to get his name all over the press, he just keeps his head down and plays his music. That just shows that you don't have to be a dickhead with a wild lifestyle to make good music. The tunes are natural.
It sounds a little crazy but I agree. It boggles my mind that beautiful stuff like this exists and people like the shitty "artists" that are popular today. Those artist don't even deserve to be named on this masterpiece.
@joereadel fine its not the actually chords sorry , but he has his gutair tuned a step down , so if you want it to sound similar with out tuning your gutair down , you can play those chords
anyone else come back to these acoustic videos of Brian late at night all these years later? it's weirdly comforting the way it takes me back to the hurt I felt then when I first heard these
Back again 2023
Absolutely. Legit had a bit of sadness watching again fearing it might be the last time having this beautiful music in my life.
Yeah…
It's 1am and I'm eating at w waffle house sobering up brother. I still feel Brian's pain in this song.
"What is a poet? An unhappy person who conceals profound anguish in his heart

This breaks my heart yet makes me so happy all at once
Is it weird that I've been listening to Brian for months straight? I can't stop. Such a talented man.
This is such a beautiful song. A friend introduced me to his acoustic stuff. I love it!
The bit that makes me tear up is his facial expression at the end. Such emotion. You can tell. This song means something to him...

The "flaws" in his voice make it so raw, so real.
Been almost 3 months now. She once said that 3 months is how long it takes to recover from any tragedy. Been 3 months, and yet here I am 1000km away now crying into my laptop.
+Positive Patrick stay positive, Patrick. You've just got to never stop believing that there will be sunnier mornings.
+Luke Knapton Keep believing my friend. Try and remember the answer is never at the bottom of the bottle. I promise you it usually makes things worse. Keep believing.
Im really happy to hear that stranger. Thats not an easy realization to come to. Good luck and stay strong.
+rabsmith03 It kills me to hear that brother. It does get better though. Just gotta stay positive :) good luck on your journey
Hang in there my dude.. 🙏
just how can this be disliked? if u came here in the first place thinking it's a Beatles cover, than you must already have an open mind to other music as Paul McCartney and John Lennon is/was terrific and eclectic songwriters. so you are either closed minded to other talent or you have no soul, because Brian Fallon is flat out amazing.
Nights like these, this is my favorite Fallon acoustic
is this guy capable of playing every song in acoustic and so perfectly
Yes
Please Brian, release one solo album, just you and your acoustic guitar... this would be so great!
Well this has aged well I'd say.
Song always makes me think of the people i've loved who are longer in my life for whatever reason i'm still not sure if time is a healer.. pissed of that TGA are on a break but excited for Brian's solo work

Brian Fallon acoustic is as good as it gets. I could watch these videos and listen to these versions of the songs over and over until the day I die. Like his tattoo says: You Made Me Cry.
Now this is music! Take everything else off the radio and just play The Gaslight Anthem!
The emotions that he puts in the song while singing... brings me to tears every time
his emotion at the end.... wow
I just happened to put this on, for a bit of background music, but I had to stop and watch and listen. I forgot what I was doing and still can't remeber. so raw.
Had the Longest drive of my life away from the woman I love, it rained all the way home, when this song played on my iPod I had to pull over and cry.
I feel bad for people who can't feel the emotion in TGA music, acoustic or not.
As the earlier comment said, listening to this knowing Brian F went through a divorce, only enhances the emotions in this song.

+Adam Morgan Brians face at the end...
+Jono Murphy I know :/
Damn. He looks like the second the camera stopped rolling he jut broke down into tears. Man, this amazing person can make even the toughest hardest criminals feel the deepest pain...
The divorce was 4 years after this came out, but I wonder if they were already on that path
OMFG what a legend power, heart, grace and pure passion. Dosn't matter what music you lik you just got to stand back and respect this man and i hope he does save rock and roll and bring it back to its formar gloary and i'm not even a full on rock head. amazing truely amazing!!1

ive watched this at least 100 times. it still kicks me in the gut every. single. time. Brian is amazing!
I miss her right now.... everyday of my life
+-Eizenn- stay strong buddy
Time does heal.
I hope things have gotten better, friend. I have lost a lover fairly recently too. I hope time has healed for you at least as well as it has for me.
He may not have the best voice, but he got something and he sings the lyrics and plays the music with so much passion and feeling and he believes everything he says, it's just beautiful. He melts my heart.
still nothing more powerful than a man with a broken heart and a guitar..
This song helped me express my emotions from a couple heart breaks, if i ever get a chance to tell him thankyou i will.
this is a good song for someone who just watch a love go with the man she loves. *lights cig* feelz
damn, I love Brian's voice so much. this video is so emotional. it almost made me cry!
wow, what a voice. Gravel and fire burning right through me into my heart and soul. FIne song and guitar playing too.
I actually prefer acoustic versions of the TGA -Songs , cause it's so relaxing and still with so much feeling in there. Love that. :)
i swear, i love this guy. i can feel his pain.
Seeing these guys tomorrow! So stoked! Hope they play this one! Such a great tune!
20cher09 Really? I love his voice. Obviously it's all an opinion, but I love how real he is.
One of my favorite singers so damn talented hope to see you in concert someday soon. Keep it on brother 💪
The feeling in his singing...
I freakin' love you man! thank you for being the lead of gaslight anthem!

On President Street, you'll find the sisters
Praying over
My city's heart
While you, you never knew
Turns to it's disciples
Who feels the pressure heat coming on hot?
And If all was well
And your heart could find the words
Would we be for better baby
Would we be for worse
And if there was a way
To navigate your seas
If tonight my true love
Did belong to me
And Juliet she's just smoking by the window
Saying stone cold
I believe in you Romeo
And the raindrops in the cars
Keep on falling from off the bars
Blocking out a good song
Playing on the radio
And If all was well
And your heart could find the words
Would we be for better baby
Would we be for worse
And if there was a way
To navigate your seas
If tonight my true love
(Did belong to me)
Well I've been down
I've been out
Had my head and my heart kicked around
I've been down
I've been out
Had my head and my heart kicked around
But in the quiet of the night
Romeo's mind is burning
From putting all of his burn
Into them sermons
And If all was well
And your heart could find the words
Would we be for better baby
Would we be for worse
And if there was a way
To navigate your seas
If tonight my true love
Did belong to me
(Do you miss her right now?) Did belong to me
(Do you miss her right now?) Did belong to me
(Do you miss her right now?) Did belong to me
(Do you miss her right now?) Did belong to me
Seriously in love with this songs
Words can not express how amazing this is.
I can literally listen to this song all day long.
Great raw voice and lyrics
No bullshit, just one man playing his guitar and singing his heart out.
The future of music.
Yup.... I have Parkway Drive and Brians stuff on the same CD. But my heart lies with acoustic music.
so lovely..
This guy deserves a reward. A trophy.
funny how you wrote this because i was actully at his concert yesterday (28th) in Gothenborg, Sweden, gonna upload some clips later it was an awesome concert and the best thing that i have ever went to / done in my life!

I truly believe this man can save rock & roll
Amazing. Got to love Alt Nation for providing an outlet for this talent.
Im the same as you man, I love the gaslight Anthem, Springsteen, Neil Young, etc but I love Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, etc. I am also a huge Surf Rock and Rockabilly fan as well!

Simply brilliant
Around 2:22 - So much emotion. Jesus.
I don't have to miss her anymore.
Love her.
if this doesnt pull some heart strings i doubt you have one.
She still loves her own Mr f very very much and always will x
His music is beautiful.
@FallonFangirl That tattoo is one of two he has on either side of his neck: "Bell Bottom Blues" & "You Made Me Cry." Both sides take lyrics from the song "Bell Bottom Blues" by Derek & The Dominos.
That the way the genre will be enriched & achieve it's goal.
This is beautiful
Exactly what Ironwolf said...We don't always feel sad and calm...we have all sorts of emotions and each genre serves each emotion :) Be open !
I'm so glad I found this :')
I love his voice and his look. :)
awesome phrase: "my old Juliet she's smoking by the window, saying stonecold I believe in you Romeo."
@fakeagainstproblems yeah its a song.. something something blues you made me cry.. cant remember the songs name hehe
This fucking song. Son of a bitch. I feel just like that right now. I feel just like that so much that I'm writing a damn youtube comment. man, the things that Juliets have said to Romeos over the years...

Patrick, if your watching this. I'm sorry. You know I care about you and wish nothing but the best for you
He committed suicide... Just FYI people.. I'm depressed...
I loved him so much... Why he couldn't text or call me...I'm sad
I’m missing her right now.....
