Andrew, this is the video that had me discovering your channel. I love your detailed and comprehensive style of reviewing a laptop. Brilliantly edited. I liked how you gave a segment to reviewing the quality of the webcam. Most RUclips reviewers fail to do that. Today, I ordered the Dell Inspiron 16 (5024). I wish I had come across your channel earlier! But, your enthusiasm for this particular model makes me less anxious about the prospect of spending a few years with my new Dell laptop. (22/4/2023).

@@user-pu7xs8le4ney there, really sorry I never saw your comment! Only checked back in today! Maybe a response is outdated but I still ought to give one.
The trackpad can malfunction on occasion! In that at times, it simply doesn’t work, neither the cursor movement nor clicks. I had this problem with my previous laptop and I seem to have this problem a little more frequently with this one too. And unfortunately I don’t have a solution to fix it whenever it happens, just restart the PC and hope it’s fixed. Luckily I have a mouse to use so I can bypass it if the issue arises but it can be annoying when it occurs. Since it always somehow fixes itself eventually, I’ve never needed to replace the laptop or anything, still got the same model I bought 6 months ago.

I bought the previous Inspiron 16+ 7610 in January 2022 for its upgradability. No major problems with with operations except occasional program freezes on MS Office and Sketch up (not sure if due to Win 11 or Dell itself). But my main complaint is on the poor quality of the keyboard finish. I have several keys where the black paint is already flaking off the keys after just a few months. This seems also to be a frequent complaint pertaining to Dell on various websites. Disappointed

Absolutely agree. I really couldn’t like the keyboards on their Inspiron series. It feels so cheap. This year they worked on the touchpad and it feels wonderful. Keyboard is the same unfortunately. I am not sure whether the "+" version has a better keyboard or not.

I bought this laptop and received it yesterday (i preferred it over the HP Envy 16 because it has a anti-glare screen). My impression SO FAR: I can't speak for durability of course but i really like it so far. Beautiful colour, design very simple and minimalistic (was afraid it looked dull but thats not the case) the keyboard seems nice, with slightly rubber-ish premium feel, but i guess it is a personal preference. Was worried the keyboard backlit would be too dim, but it is well distiguishable in the dark so no pb at all. Camera looks very sharp. What surprised me most was the sound, both in volume and in quality also with bass. Very impressed. I chose a 32gmb ram dual memory and 1TB storage. All connections (wifi, bluetooth with mouse and headphones) work fine: it obly seems to 'lose' connection with mouse very occasionally, but only for a second, and i already notice an improvement on day 2. So far i've only surfed, downloaded, streamed, played media, used some Office programs. holds on very well performance-wise with 20+ Internet tabs open. Ventilation works, you can hear it, but the whim is very low noise (for these types of jobs) and it remains cool. less noisy than i expected. Screen brightness is ok for me, i even keep it 75%. Feels sturdy. Time will tell..Dell support very helpful, on a long call yesterday to install the add-on softwares it was supposed to come with. Havent tried the thunderbolt port yet. Take this with a pinch of salt, im coming from a much beloved Tecra A10 aka 'the tank' (which still works, but slow now..), so this was bound to be a big improvemt specs-wise, but nevertheless....

Nice PC. Camera looked good and microphones sounded good. Again it would be nice if these manufacturers would offer two iterations of these 16 in models one with a numpad and one without. This way they can satisfy both camps of users. When using my spreadsheet and accounting programs I discovered that with my new 16 in. Spectre without a numpad versus my 2018 spectre with the numpad I find that I can get my work done much quicker on the 2018 Spectre versus the 16 in. 2022 Spectre even though the new machine is faster electronically but inputting numeric data takes much more time on the 2022 model. Port selection is good. Comparing this to the xps 13 you recently reviewed this has a 1080p camera versus a 720p camera, much better port selection and a screen resolution that is quite good. Again another great review. These reviews you do give one the opportunity to see many different types of PC's and then he of she can make an intelligent choice of what type of PC they need. Again thanks.

  • @Astro-Markus

I'm late in the game here, but my long-term experience may put in a grain of salt. Despite the metal casing, the screen mounting is a considerable weak spot. It's made of plastic and it broke already soon after I bought the notebook. One thing that contributed to it are the rear air vents that blow the hot air directly at the mount and the lower part of the screen. As a result, the screen frame tends to detach from the screen after a while. The rear air vents are really a bad choice. I use the notebook mostly with an external HD monitor and keep the lid closed.

The main usage scenario is programming (data science / python develop), in your free time genshin, league of legends, lost ark. I would like the laptop not to burn me when writing text / programming outside the home. I really want a moderately powerful laptop and so that you can carry it with you.

I like the idea of a numpad, but realistically, you can just buy a USB add-on numpad for not that much. I'm using a Microsoft Sculpt keyboard on my Desktop that has a separate numpad unit. It's fine, I only use the numpad for programs that require it (like Sibelius music notation program), and otherwise, its tucked out of the way.

Update - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE - I've had it for 1 year. Pretty good except the 'USB not recognized' error pops up every time i plug in an additional usb. Impossible to print a document without huge waste of ink and paper, as it fails to recognize it whenever it feels like. The customer support got me to re-install windows 11 and update all drivers but that didnt solve it. Service utterly useless, and i will try definitely to sell this junk and buy a reputable brand instead. And if you think the pb only pops up when you plug in other devices, i tell you that even the mouse (only usb plugged in all the time) is not recognized half the time.

If you have any idea why this may be for my unit, could you please explain? Thanks.
