‘Faoiseamh a Gheobhadsa’
Máirtín Ó Direáin
Faoiseamh a gheobhadsa
Seal beag gairid
I measc mo dhaoine
Ar oileán mara,
Ag siúl cois cladaigh
Maidin is tráthnóna
Ó Luan go Satharn
Thiar ag baile.
Faoiseamh a gheobhadsa
Seal beag gairid
I measc mo dhaoine
Ó chrá chroí,
Ó bhuairt aigne,
Ó uaigneas dhuairc,
Ó chaint ghontach
Thiar ag baile.
'I Will Find Solace'
I will find Solace
A short while
Amongst my people
On a sea island
Walking the stone beach
Morning and evening
From Monday to Saturday
In the west at home
I will find solace
A short while
Amongst my people
From heart sorrow
From mind worry
From joyless lonliness
From hurtful talk
In the west at home Видеоклипы
This is truly the most beautiful song I have ever heard.
It is indeed.
Check out the Port Celtic channel, it's got some gems too
Although born and raised in Zimbabwe my dad is Irish, County Cork, so I'm extremely passionate about my ancestry and just love the wonderful music! Thank you for this beautiful rendition, I can close my eyes and be transported back in time, reflecting on my ancestors lives!
Good man
With Galway born ancestry I went there and did not want to leave. Even cried when the time came. Born in Newfoundland I found the place I could live and die.
A fine county indeed and the biggest of them all God bless you and your family slan go foil mo Chara goodbye for now my friend

My dad's whole family is 100% from county Cork, mostly near Bantry. My mother's is county Carlow. I'm American. Love Gaeilge and love this song!
I'm Hispanic but love this music so much, breathtaking, takes me away, soothes my soul❤

Maybe, just maybe you guys should explain to rest of us what you all are about.
When you do not know what will happen to you, when you fear for the future, listen, little and defenseless man, to this one. And when you see the vastness of the sea, the white surf, the high peaks of the rocks, remember: you are not alone. This reflection flows with her singing, with his playing, you can see, and so much is still ahead of you ...
If this was the last thing i ever heard on this Earth, i'd die a happy man. Totally transfixed by the beauty of it all. ❤
Both my parents were born in Scotland and this song resonates within my soul
This is so so absolutely beautiful that I just do not have enough words express my feelings. Only can't stop crying and crying and crying... And it makes me so sorry that I'm not Irish .. Go raibh maith agat ó bhun mo chroí!
Go hallainn are fad
🎼❤🌹🤗
Can anyone translate plz❤

Zoë's voice sounds like an angel. It brings me happiness and peace every time I listen to it. 💚 You two are amazing! Go raibh maith agaoibh ☘
This is so beautiful. I love that Zoe carries her voice into the fiddle entrance in the second verse. So so sensual. ☀
Hit Like if you came after A.R Rahaman shared

A RA man? Gerry Adams?
Zoe and John, you made something so beautiful together that I am almost overwhelmed by a feeling of love for the Celtic people, their language, poetry and music. The imagery, vocals and musicianship were wonderful. Thank you!❤️🎶🇮🇪🏴
This is breathtakingly gorgeous. The sights, the sounds, the voices. There are no musicians like the Irish. Just watch and listen.. it’s in their hearts and in their bones. Bless you both for sharing your wonderful talents.
Indescribably beautiful Zoe & John. Fabulous performance. Thank you 🙏💞☘️

Had the absolute pleasure of hearing this live in Letterkenny 2 nights ago. Magical.
We're studying this poem in my Irish Lit class and I found this "sung" version. Can't stop watching/listening to it. Really makes it come alive with feeling. "We" all loved it!
What's the name of poem,do you speak Gaelic? I want to learn.
Just saw this performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, as part of a celebration for St. Patrick's Day. Wonderful!!
If fairies were real I'd imagine they would sound like you.
You have stopped me in my tracks with your astonishingly beautiful singing and playing.

Zoë sends ASMR shooting down my spine with her ethereal, cosmically beautiful voice!
Pure magic!!! ♥♥♥
Everything about this is so beautiful, tender and poignant that it moved me to tears and filled my heart with longing to return to Erin's fair isle, where the sky, the sea, the hillsides, the music and the wonderful people never fail to uplift the spirit.
Ireland is currently being invaded. The invaders must all go home including the draft dodging Ukrainians.
Always such a pleasure to see and hear this couple together, be it on their own or with other artists. So much beauty and talent. Thank you.

I don’t understand a word but my soul is soothed nonetheless. She understood perfectly 💗💜 it reminds her of all her other Nordic lifetimes ❤️💜💝
It's an old poem set to music. Its writer is talking about returning to the island on which he was born and raised, finding peace. All that good stuff.

I came here after Tommy Tiernan recited it at his Stray Sod special, after an extended research (for I can’t speak irish but recited word after word to a friend who does) she helped me find the name and here I am in fookin delight.
