I would enjoy seeing a video of you taking care of all your tools preventative maintenance on your planters and jointers sharpening blades replacing etc.
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ruclips.net/user/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seems to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Love that you showed the mistakes. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that makes them. I also learn by seeing how you repair or find a solution! Thanks man!
i did my first wood working project because of you.. built-in cabinets and box shelves with lights in them.. i just bought a plan from you to give back.. thanks!!!!
Loved watching this, definitely going to make one and because you've done all the hard work of ironing out any possible mistakes this old granny shouldn't have too much difficulty making it too.
Hey mr. BMW! I think you have the best videos available for woodworkers. I really just love your videos. I think I will do exactly the same table for my father in law as well. Thank you for your videos and keep up the spirit !!! Greetings from Estonia, Taavi.
Those GRK's that you switch to when lagging the cross pieces to the legs are amazing. I use them on anything and everything that is outside or needs to be strong.
just ran across your channel and have watched several videos which are great.... the funny part was I didn't have the audio on when I started the first video and I was like - yikes, what a geek. then I turned the audio on and I thought wow, what a great melodious voice that wood geek has and his explanations for the geeky woodworking are awesome. Of course I'm partial to geeks
Materials cost 1 year ago: $100 tops. Materials cost today: $500 minimum. 3/4 construction grade ply was $89/ea at HD this evening. CDX sheathing used to be $9.89 and is now $58.99... Awesome design! Loved the video. :)
I've watched a ton of your videos and have learned so much. However after watching you make your cereal with eagle rare whiske I knew that my destiny Of starting my own woodworking business Will Be fulfilled. Eagle rare whiskey is my favorite whiskey thank you for your videos kind sir. Next time don't spill the liquid gold.
it sprinkles... It "Rains" it Iowa... It "rains" in Arizona.... It drizzles and sprinkles here in Oregon! Don't believe the propaganda! Love your videos! You need to come over and help me organize my wood shop!~
I did that a couple of months ago. I set in the office recliner and thought I need a table for my drink and 30 minutes later I had the crappiest pallet wood table holding said drink. It did the job.
I hear ya on the grayed out cedar, but if you ever change your mind, I used Sikkens Cetol 1 and Cetol 23 on a log home with cedar beams and it turned out amazing. Expensive, but awesome results. I used the same on a three car garage with cedar doors. Customer was very happy. Maintenance coat is every 3-4 years.
Like the many before me, I pray no whisky was harmed in the making of this video. Very nice table and much classier than the standard patio or deck table. Keep up the good work and the fun videos.
Though all your videos are pretty amazing, I'm washing dishes and hear you quote Shakespere. Then confirmed that you did indeed quote Shakespere in a woodworking shop. You definitely are that kind of guy. So freaking dope!
HEATHEN! Putting that nasty stuff in a perfectly good bowl of rice krispies & bourbon! The table looks awesome and will be attempting it as soon as I have my shop again (hate renting places)
Holy crap. Something I can actually build. Hope plans are available. I can definitely afford cedar and I have a Home Depot. First time I’ve seen Jason buy wood at Home Depot. Haha
That was a very nice video and a very smart garden table. Loved the intro. If it was my table, I think I would have stained it or oiled it. If you spill something on it, like coffe, whiskey or fat of some kind, it will be sucked into the wood and that will make nasty stains.
Nice video and really appreciate seeing the process, the mistakes and the fixes! From my NW experience for outdoor table I suggest to cover it when not in use (Classic Accessories is one brand I know that makes outdoor furniture covers) and put some coating/wax finish to avoid permanent food/drink stains. I didn't do this for my first table and had to replace it way too quickly.
Solid table that folds up for a nice compact space saving design! Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
Gee who would have thought about putting Bourbon on your Rice Krispies? You always have good tips. Actually in Ireland, they had Baileys and Jameson available to add to the morning oatmeal.
How does a 30 minute video feel like it was only 5 minutes long? It's just that good. I love all the attention to detail, and this is a nice change to have something with exposed hardware looking a little more industrial.
LOL @ the opening. Jason, suggest that you just put plugs in the holes where the brass screws are on the braces (timestamp: 23:34) since that would stop any leeching possibility and I can't imagine that you would ever need to 'unbrace them.'
One addition I would have done is put additional blocks just inside each leg for the bolts/threaded rod to go through. That would put the bolts in double sheer and increase how much load they can take while also eliminating the flex you were seeing. Less important with the long threaded rod and the legs joined together like that, but it would still add a lot of strength for a small change.
@@keithfaulkner6319 well, it already saw several hundred pounds in the video. It's more about having the screws flexing and pulling as they are loaded and unloaded. It wouldn't take much to open up the holes over time and make them move around even more. A simple block with a hole through it and a couple of screws would eliminate the flex and halve the forces at each end.
@@srwapo ok you, might be right, but geez it was supposed to be a simple build. In the real world the table would be set up in the spring, get loaded with 20 pounds of food at a time all summer, then taken down and stored for the winter. In this scenario that table will work just fine.
@@keithfaulkner6319 to be fair, it was my first reaction to seeing the screws flex in the original design. I'm less concerned with the full length threaded rod. Just hate seeing screws in single shear when it's so easy to make a double shear design! Especially when things are moving.
@@srwapo ok, if it were going to set up, taken down, repeat , repeat, repeat, endlessly. A table not treated that way isn't moving much. The design would obviously depend on how you plan to use the product. Overbuilding just complicates the product and increases the weight.

I just finished building 365sq ft cedar deck. plan on a partial roof for my Bbq,smoker and flat top grill. was looking for a nice table. found it. I will be sending for your plans
Nice design! Would be perfect here in Scotland. Pity getting hold of cedar stock here isn't as simple as heading to Home Depot. It's practically a second mortgage proposition.
@@justinstrik7125 Totally. Plus it wouldn't have anything like the durability of cedar. The only readily available alternative here is treated spruce. Even if you ignore the fact it's full of chemicals, it's horrible to work with and never remotely close to being clear of dead knots and splits etc. since it's expected to be used for fence posts and the like.
Nice build! One thing I would have done was put a flat washer between the leg and apron, so when it gets wet and the wood swells a bit, you still have a smooth pivot.
In this scenario I would go to Home Depot see that a 2x4 was 8$ then turnaround grab a 50$ patio table instead. Then skip the cereal and just drink the bourbon and coffee 🤣
Is the patio table really 50$ with same quality wood and durability? I really doubt it, although I do not live in the states and we do not have a Home Depot

I'm really glad I'm not the only one who just looks around the shop for something round when I need to draw a radius on something.
I got to say, you have the best introduction and music to anyone else that I follow. 👍👏
You SOB! I snorted when you, "nutted" your rod in place! Well done, your ability to throw stuff together and think on the fly is inspiring.
Actually when you build enough stuff, thinking on the fly isn't that hard. Been there done that, at some time in the past.
I enjoyed this video, not just because this is an awesome table, but because you’re funny. Thank you for making woodworking fun 🤣
I made my first and worst cabinet this week with so many mistakes but your videos have been really helpful!
The added time for humor to watch your videos is actually worth it. Keep up the exceptional job!

The best woodworker on YT. Once again fab u lous
Those GRK's that you switch to when lagging the cross pieces to the legs are amazing. I use them on anything and everything that is outside or needs to be strong.
The GRK lag bolts are great also. Used them to build shelving in my garage, and I’m sure that the structure will outlive the house itself.
