I absolutely adore the table and bench, and the four cube stools are such a delightful and practical choice, especially for those with big families. Appreciate you sharing this! 🙂
Great video! Love it. Nice work. Thanks for sharing. One small improvement that could be used: when cutting the 45 degree cuts for the cubes if you tip the blade over just a bit past 45 degrees (just a teeny tiny fractional degree) compensates for any wonky boards or inconsistent cutting. If there's going to be an open gap in the edges it'll look better if it's on the inside of the cube rather than the exterior. So by tilting the blade just barely past 45 degrees you force that the exterior edges are tightly closed (at the expense of maybe having small open gap on the inside edges). Something to try. take it or leave it.
New subscriber and I really like the looks of this outdoor dining set. I paused the video to click through some of the product links (thank you for including them) and when I returned it looked like the tabletop had a great deal of undulation in it (timestop on the video is 12:14). Is that possibly because you only finished the top and not the bottom of the tabletop boards? I am wondering how I might make it lay flatter.
Hi and welcome! Yes, the bottom is unfinished. I never sanded or flattened the bottom because to me, it is unseen and unimportant. The top is flat, however :) To make the bottom flat, I would just turn the top over while it is still on the workbench and give it the same finishing treatment as the top. Thanks for watching!
Omg. I’m in love with your channel haha. My wife and I are closing on a house in Houston near Katy and I’m going to try everything you’ve done. Lol. Not a handy man at all but I will give it my best shot. 😂
Looks fantastic!! But, at current cedar board prices, this would probably cost me $1,000 to build. 😂 I’m curious as to your opinion on the Total Boat varnish compared to a Spar Varnish? In your opinion , could I build it out regular pine board if it finished with either TBV or SV?
Looks great! Building those cube seats is probably not for the faint of heart! Precision is definitely key when trying to get those big bevel miters to match up!
I love the design and just purchased the plans! I’m excited to get started but quick question on the cedar. A lot of the cedar in the lumber yards are green. Do you use green or dried cedar? If green, do I need to let it dry for a certain period of time before using it? Thanks!
Great question! I use green cedar and I've not let it dry for any of my outdoor projects yet. I've not had a problem with it warping, but if you really want to be safe, you could let it dry awhile. Hope this helps and thanks so much for getting the plans! Enjoy the build!
Unbelievable cubes r practical, easy storage look cool. Well done now what's for dinner 😘 seriously if this set sold at Pottery it wld cost $15 hundred to 2 grand, imagine that, with your set is better made 🤩
Thanks! I did just one coat of each part. I should probably do more, but I'll probably do it again next year to keep the finish up. And yeah I'm stoked about the biscuit joiner trick! Thanks for watching!
Can I know pl if the cedar board u used r pressure treated? I just spoke to the lumber yard and the guy said not suitable as table top. Do u know if i can get cedar 2x6 boards that r not treated. Txs
No, the cedar is not pressure treated. Cedar doesn't require chemicals because it is naturally water, rot and bug resistant. It is an excellent choice for a table top.
Great looking and deserves a LIKE, which it got! But, is the whole of the table top supported on rails relying on pocket hole screws and glue (both under shear)? Don't try dancing on this one, eh?
Hey Miss Grey. Awesome table and stool design! Wanted to let you know that a few of your links in the description and your pinned comment (what do you think?) have http: hyper links (rather than https:) the http links are unsecured and easily susceptible to scammers redirecting your potential customers (sales) to alternative pages and/or collect information on your customers off their computers (IP addresses, packets, ect) which can lead to theft and loss. You don't seem like you're in the business of ripping people off just looking to build cool things like the rest of us. So letting you know.
I’ve never seen a biscuit joiner used this way, this is an incredible tip.
I'm so glad it's a good tip for you! Thanks so much for watching!

Thank you so much for this comment! So nice to hear. We absolutely love this table. I appreciate you watching :)
Beautiful build! And awesome use of the biscuit joiner -- I've never seen that before.
Thank you very much! And very cool to know that you found this tip useful! It's a good one.
Nicely done! Those cubes will work also very nice as sidetables next to a loungechair or so. Best wishes from Germany
Great idea!! Thanks so much and cheers!

Great tip. Thanks!
That cute little wink from the pupper at the end.
10 seconds in and I already liked this video. Just the design of all the pieces is simple but amazing looking.
That's great to hear! Thank you so much 😀
Great project! Table looks really nice and the cube seats are fun and look pretty cool. Thanks for sharing!
Ah thank you so much!!
Can't believe I never thought about using a biscuit joiner like that it saves so much time
Right?! It's a great tip!
Loved using biscuit jointer to cut rabbit grooves thought I was only one who did that
I'm glad to hear you do that too! It's a great use of that tool!
Amazing and Awesome project Gray !!!!!! 10/10
You are an artist.... it's like meditation...
I love it, nice vidéo really amazing to see. Good job and really good idea. 🇫🇷
Thank you very much! I appreciate it!
Love it and in that corner behind the outdoor shower you could do an L shaped bench for extra seating
Great idea! Thanks!
Great design and build!

Thats amazing! I will try to do this with my brother this week, barbecue will never be the same ❤
Yes!! 😄
Beautiful ! Ty
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
Nice video. I really like your cube seats. Thanks for sharing this great idea. You could also use a router for the slot.
I definitely don't use the router enough. Great tool. Thanks so much!
OMG…totally in love with that TACO PUSH STICK! 🌮 😆
Good catch :)

Very nice work madam👍🌹
Party🎉 time!
Right?! 🥳🥂
Excellent video. Mind if i ask which KREG pocket hole jig you recommend for joining the 2” material to the 4”?
Kreg has a new jig out for larger material like 4x4. I haven't used it yet but I'm sure it's great! Here's a link: rivr.link/MRG-UNRA_m and thanks!!

Some required loooots of clamps 😂 Thanks Jeremy!
Watching you makes me wish I had taken wood shop in Jr High and High School instead of choir. 😢
It's never too late to start!

My thoughts exactly! Thank you so much :)
BOM TRABALHO
Looks really nice especially with that finish. Did you just do 1 coat? Never thought about using my biscuit joiner to cut a long slot….. great idea!
Thanks! I did just one coat of each part. I should probably do more, but I'll probably do it again next year to keep the finish up. And yeah I'm stoked about the biscuit joiner trick! Thanks for watching!
This is cool, but can we all just appreciate the Taco Push for a minute?
I love it when people appreciate the taco push stick :)
Love this!! Do you have a favorite place in Austin that you get your lumber from?
Thank you! If it's cedar, I usually buy from Lowes or McCoys. If it's hardwood or nicer wood, I usually buy from Fine Lumber.
awesome video, one question. instead of making all those grove cuts, why not just use L brackets?
As long as they allow for wood movement, should work fine. There are several options. Thanks!

Thank you! The top is not meant to be super structural and hold hundreds of pounds. However, I feel very comfortable standing on top of it if needed.
👍
