+Kurt Tomlinson | Compositions Thank you Kurt! I was also pretty amazed by the footage coming out of this thing. Always having such a small 4K camera in your pocket opens up so many creative possibilities! Can’t wait to take it everywhere🎥
I love it!!! If you record with highest possible quality (100mBs bitrate) will it take a lot space right - do you recommend 256GB or 64GB? Is it enough if we transfer approx. 45 min of materials right to macbook ?
Haven’t seen this comment yet! I think for creating corporate video’s the 64 version is enough. But if you are planning to shoot complete day long events, you might need to look into the 256 one. 45 minutes will be close, I think it fits on the 64gb but with no storage space left.
Thanks man! I was also pretty surprises with how it turned out! The original clip was actually pretty noisy, but shooting in 4k really helps as it makes the noise size smaller and let noticeable. I shot everything in a flat picture profile (with filmic pro). This gave me a little bit more dynamic range and the possibility to push/crush the blacks more in post. Deep black = Less Noise (in this case). Hope it helps! :)
@@JustinvanTol thx a lot! do you think is will be enough for shooting promote video for small enterprenuers (bakenry, coffe shops, etc.) What I am just afraid is is performance in low light. I think iP8+ is perfect compact/budget 4K60fps! Are you happy with it? Did you shooted 60fps and then in final cut pro slowed of 50% (so you get actually 30fps playable - slow mo) ? :-))
@@Hayk_empty_cloud I would say yes, you could create a lot great content with it. For low light it is not the best, but I recommend shooting in 30fps in low light. Because of the difference in shutter speed, it will let in a lot more light. Try to overexpose a little if you are shooting in dark areas, so you can lower the exposure in post a little, this will get rid of most noise. When shooting in 60fps I like to slow it down to 40% speed and edit in a 25fps timeline (also did that in this video). This type of slowmo is very convincing for natural movements (like people walking). I also recommend getting a stabilizer, the Zhiyun Smooth 4 is absolutely amazing. You can shoot such creative camera movements with it, that your videos will already look professional even though it is not shot on a bigger camera. If you need any more info, let me know! :)
@@JustinvanTol wooow. Such a precious info. Can you do some tutorial for filming with your iPhone and smooth 4 ? I think not only me, but a lot of people who like us will appriciate it!! :-) Pleaase, can you tell me, how did you get rid of thats micro jitters ? I saw video where was comparsion Filmic Pro and Mavis Pro. M is more stable app and whats more, M do better black in low light with crisp details. Can you confirm that? :-) Thank you Justin. Definitely interesting topics here! I'm thinking about making a 'cinematic film look on smartphone' video for already a while. Great to know I can help you a bit with this info. I'm working hard to get my new site online and I could also dedicate a blog post to the best settings. As for the Mavis App, I don't know much about it. Coming from Filmic Pro on an iPhone 5 all the way to my 8 Plus, I love the app. But it can be a bit unstable sometimes (with corrupted files or shutting down randomly). From what I see the Mavis app does not support any flat profile. I think this is the real value of such a third party app, as it will give you much more control in post-production. 'Flat' profile on Filmic Pro is really good! But a Filmic vs Mavis comparison would be a cool topic! As for the micro jitters, most gimbals will get rid of it. You can also experiment with turning stabilization on or off. For me shooting in a 3rd party app helps a lot. As I lock my focus, it seems to be less of an issue during recording. It looks like this is part of a focusing issue in the regular camera app. If you have any more intel or request for videos or blog posts, feel free to let me know. Always glad to help! :)
Glad you like it! This was shot handheld. I used the optical image stabilization (in camera) and tried to rotate around my own body with hip movement from side to side. Then in post production, I used warp stabilizer (which works really good with 4K footage) to smoothen out the shots. Hope this helps! 🙌
Could you activate tone & color sub panel while you’re shooting on 4k 60fps? I’m using iphone X and I see a message “Not available at frame rates higher than 30fps” I purchased cinematographer’s kit also and it’s newest version available now.
At the moment I bought my iPhone I immediately downloaded filmic pro with the kit, while Filmic was still really busy working on some updates. I asked filmic pro why the app was lagging so much (because I had a lot of frame drops and unusable footage). This was probably a bug. You can use the kit with 1080 60fps when it comes to higher frame rates. Future updates may improve this. Hope this helps!
Justin, those shots are incredible! I can't believe the iPhone cameras are now much, much better than my own DSLR camera. Great edit, too!

Hey Justin! Really incredible video. Would like to know if you used any gimbal/stabilizer while shooting this video?

Settings? Did you shoot this with a 3rd party app?
Yes! Shot with the filmic pro app in the ‘flat picture profile’. Really vibes you another stop dynamic range and more shadow details 👌
Qhe vibe foda
