Ferrari Testarossa - The Supercar of the 80s and 90s

- The Ferrari Testarossa screams 1980's styling, but in the best way possible. Its loud 12 cylinder engine, wide body, and aggressive design as become an automotive icon. The Testarossa is the predecessor to the Ferrari Boxer, and managed to resolve many of the issues that were common in the boxer. One of those issues was excessive cabin heat due to the radiators being in the front of the car. The Testarossa solved that issue by relocating the radiators to the side of the car, which is where the wide hips on the Testarossa originate from. There were three variations of the TR produced, the car you see in this video, then the 512 Testarossa, and finally the 512M. While the variations on the Testarossa have some improvements, it is widely believed that the first edition of the car has the most aggressive stance and is the best looking of the bunch. In this video we will discus the history of the Testarossa along with what it takes to service it, and much more.

This car is Just so amazing... Its like a piece of art out of a museum....
And that's exactly how Enzo Ferrari wanted his cars to be seen as an authentic Italian work of art and engineering. Ferrari has strict guidelines on authorized paint schemes as well and if you attempt to repaint your Ferrari in some oddball color, Ferrari's lawyers will be sending you a not so pleasant cease and desist letter.
I have never seen you look happier driving any of the cars. I think it may be "the one"! I love the shirt, too.
Even to this day, I still think the Testarossa is one of the best looking cars ever made!
you speak as though people came here to find out what ABU thinks, get over youreself
@@slowery43 ??? What is that supposed to mean??? This is a comments section open to the public. I simply posted a compliment, that's it! Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing arrogant about posting a compliment. I certainly wasn't trying to get your attention, but reaching out to the uploader of this video! If it bothers you so much, report it or something, but please spare the stupid responses! 😩
Wow this car still looks amazing today.
Keep it up! The content you put out is excellent and shows that you know what you're talking about and not reading a teleprompter or cue cards! AND you drive them, excellent.
Your love of Ferrari's is very apparent. You are very knowledgeable about these cars. You always do a great job. I love watching your videos. My love of these cars is due to my love of Miami Vice.
Great work, honest information and you’re so cool 👍🏼 to let us know all the good and bad in detail.
It's so cool !
Thank you for your wonderful experience.
Beautiful Lady, beautiful Car, beautiful Location. Congrats
Whoever your videographer is needs a raise. Bravo. Petrolicious quality.
I’m french and i love watching your channel, it’s very rare to see a (beautiful) girl driving all this amazing supercars! It’s a real pleasure!
Thanks. Glad you enjoy the channel. :)
Iconic.
Love your channel, greeting from Holland!
Great stuff always!
I love this channel. I've always wanted a testarossa.
Excellent channel. So pleased to subscribe 🙌
Great video! Alwasys a pleasure to see you driving a Ferrari! My dream is to see you at the wheel if an F40!
my 1972 Datsun 510 came with only a drivers side mirror! Mostly all cars came with one side mirror! The best TR is the one with the high side left mirror and it also the coolest one!
Clearly one of the best cars of all times
i like how transmission clicks! So cool!
Awesome review, as always. 15:31
Great video 😊😊😊
Love the Testarossa!
My friend is in Maranello filming Enzo right now. Adam Driver is playing the part.
Still an amazing looking car! Don't you think it's a bit of a coincidence that Adam 'Driver' is making a film about cars?
Totally appropriate and I think he will make a great Enzo.
I remember this during it’s day. These were so exotic and powerful. They still look great. It’s amazing the modern cars’ performance. Back in the day, we thought that the days of the muscle car were over. Cheap-ish American cars are amazing today. It’s nice that this car design has stood the test of time. It doesn’t look dated like the Countach.
Italian is Italian Americans can never have that emotion
They were horrible to drive though. Short distances and simple cruising weren't much of a problem, but on a somewhat longer trip the rock-hard suspension tended to almost break the occupants' backs. The Countach was way better suited to longer trips than the Testarossa.
Cracking video 👌👌🤩
That flat 12 on full chat sounds amazing, blue or black for me!!
These are unique cars. I had one a decade ago, and it got lots of comments and looks.
Great video as always!
(Altho someone forgot to paint the area behind the grille matt black :) )
Bellissimo video ✌
Great Video as always .. thanks for the info. .. Some of Us Have seen the Good Bad and the ugly of owning these cars ... The Super Hi cost of keeping these 80's Ferraris on the road etc. leaves a bad teste for me for sure ! Keep Up the Good Work !!
Great review, I like the transparency of your dealership. I feel the Testarossa is something I could live with!!
great explanation. I learned a lot from Testarossa with your video. I am a new subscriber to your channel.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
I still love these early single lug Testarossa models
Both the Car and The Lady are Bellissimo 🤩🤩
I cannot believe how undervalued these cars are today. Beautiful!
well that particular car will have a drop in price due to the accident no matter how small it is, because any car has same issue for all salvage titles +the drop in value if was involved in any minor incidents over same model of car that was not involved in any incidents at all, that is even if the repairs would be made by a Ferrari dealer shop..
love the seat belts
I really missed the boat on buying one of these (during the banking crisis around 2010). Testarossas and Porsche 930s (including slant-nose) were relatively VERY affordable.
Love the TR.. not going to lie getting a car totaled for that little damage is why i dislike insurace adjusters.
There are classic car policies that come with the option for you to get the car back after a write-off, if you want that.
And that car has the best anti thief system on EEUU, a clutch 😎
I Love the TR's & 512's. Not too practical as a driver - so wide that it's hard to find safe parking. Still beautiful & classic. [The Berlinetta Boxer had a 180 degree 4.4L FLAT-12 engine. The newer Testarossa (name derived from the beautiful 'red head' Testarossa 250, 1957-1961) had a 180 degree 4.9L Flat-12.]
Gorgeous. Not so sure on that subwoofer enclosure though.
Love how you shift out of gear and coast to the lights in neutral Colleen ;)
Yeah the sub box is interested. We have seen a few TRs with some pretty extra stereo systems, LEDs etc in them. This one is fairly tasteful.
The old 1980s Miami Vice TV series put the Testarossa on full display!
A salvage title doesn't scare me... as long as the seller can show me photos of the damage, teardown, and repair. No photos and "it was just a light hit, easy fix" doesn't instill confidence. If I didn't do the work myself, I at least want to see what someone else did.
The F40 was the Ultimate Supercar from that Era.
The Tesarossa is definitely a favorite as are the F40 - F50, and the LaFerrai. The side Straights are also aerodynamically functional as well. Angled to slightly for rear wheel downforce each side adds considerable downforce. As is the rear fender haunches, which are angled to ramp up as a mini rear wing. Thank for Sharing such a beautiful example of rolling Artwork 👦🏻👍🏻🏎️🏁 The 3rd Pedal Manual Transmission is the +
B.Title is never a problem as long as it has… transparency…detail… concise and matching information. Never. I’m pretty sure this TR will come out a total gem for someone to invest in… you don’t buy a Ferrari… you invest in one- because it’s worth it-the rest is just? Bridges to Cross. Cool Lady with the Black Sabbath T-Shirt Tour which birthed War-Pigs into the Amps.. 1978-79. I know … I own the original large patch from the show.
The clutch isn't getting a workout but I'm pretty sure the breaks are when you're putting it in neutral and breaking lol
best supercar ever made with f40
My favorite Ferrari.
I was grossed out by the 80s aesthetic as a kid _during_ the 80s. Lol I'm still not a fan of most 80s design, fashion, music production, etc. I wasn't really a fan of 80s Lambos even as a kid.
...but I've always thought the Testarossa is absolutely gorgeous. The way those widebody rear fenders create a shelf that swoops down and blends into the door... With the strakes shooting into it... It's the perfect example of "looks fast even when it's standing still". They nailed it. The car reminds me a lot of really good guitar design. There are lots of straight lines and hard edges but they're all tied together with perfectly placed, organic curves. If a Testa were a guitar, it would be a Gibson Firebird.
I honestly think they're way better looking than F-40s. Along with the 250 variants, they're the prettiest cars from the Enzo era. (IMHO)
Good summary! The side strakes were a response to German pedestrian safety regulations; ditto the 348. Fortunately those regs lasted only a few years, giving us eventually the beautiful F355, but Ferrari apparently decided the TR series had to keep them.
It is a true flat 12, or a 180-degree V12, depends how you look at it. But yes not a true 'boxer'. Doesn't actually matter; it's a great long-distance GT. Just don't drive it like a race car or the high CofG and roll oversteer will get you in the end!
Not so wide by today's standards, my baby Range Rover is several inches wider, but you do have to remember when eyeing up a gap that the back end is a lot wider than the front where you're sitting!
What a pair off cuties
Saturday morning, "OutRun" game on Sega Genesis. Me and a virtual Ferrari Testarossa.
這部車真的很漂亮。
The 512 M has the Naca vents on the Hood .. Looks Cool
At least it has a head seat between the seats : )
Hello from Russia :))
Nice girl, nice car )))
Labor is crazy money for the TR. My flat 6 911 turbo look costs peanuts to service VS. the TR, and I get the same thrill of driving it and sensational sound. Major service is approx. $3-4k, TR is around $20K. The 911 has German reliability as well. I can take my 911 across the country without any hesitation, not sure TR will do it without beakdown or fuss.
Steer miles away from the insurance company that made it a salvage title with so little damage. I have a cheap $8000 daily driver with a salvage title. It also did not have enough damage to justify the title. The only way I could get comp and collision was to accept a fully depreciated value. So my premium is low but if I get in an accident, they will cut a check for $1200 instead of about $4800. I was willing to chance it because they allowed me to keep generous liability limits. Prospective buyers should contact their insurance company and ask about terms and conditions for salvage cars. I won't screw the next owner because I will drive it until it's truly dead -- the next owner will be a salvage yard.
Bellissima macchina senza tempo Miami vice quel telefilm rappresentava tutto quello che c'era bello in qui bellissimi anni 👌🐴🏁
Did I just hear you pronounce it “Testarossa” instead of “Tezzarossa”
Finally 🤣
I was looking at a Tributo or Roma for my first Ferrari (I've only ever owned Porsches for 40 years) but I just can't stomach driving an automatic. So I found an '89 Testarossa that I'm in the process of buying. Very cool and beautiful.
Thanks Colleen. Yes, the Testarossa was my childhood pin up car along with the 427 tri power Corvette Stingray. Awesome!!
Hit 👍before seeing the video!!!
When you stop on a red light, in a manual car, you never press the clutch and leave the car in first. You put the gearbox in neutral and press the brake if necessary.
When will you do a video on any of the 456 series cars or a Mondial Cabriolet. No love to them?
Next time we get one in we will do a video. :)
Flat engine is a bigger category that includes boxers and 180-degree Vs. Testarossa is both flat-12 and 180-degree V12.
A testarossa for $45,000? WOW
"Testa-RAWsa," you know like the Italian Ferrari color "RAW-SO corsa."
Can I put a request in for a 94-95 348 spider just doesn't get enough love that it deserves.
This is the REAL thing
What car is the "Testarowsa" ive never heard of that car before ,, when did they make that car
The grille on the rear lights needs to be lifted a little on the driver's side. Or is it just me?
👍👍👍
Good looking car but like the Countach had a 0 to 60 of about 10 seconds
One variant wasn't mentioned: the one-off Testarossa spider.
Do you always break in neutral or?
It depends on the situation.
you've lost so much weight !!! goof for you !!
Does anyone notice how she shifts into reverse when coming to a stop?
The Testarosa even by today's standards is a very beautiful car. In fact, I have no idea why they do not build another. Some of the newer Ferraris lack an iconic look, in fact in my humble opinion boring with a few exceptions.
I am disowning my son because of this.
What happened to the white pants? I thought they looked good on you.
Pininfarina at it's best
This is a 1987 og 1988 car because of the single bolt wheels. The paint job in the front is not like the original(should be black behind the front grill). The loudspeaker between the seats is also an aftermarket installation. Remember that a european model is more popular than an american(more power, less weight and not the automatic seatbelt).
1st gear-
Over and down
😏
It is a real flat 12. It's just not a boxer.
How many watching these videos are in love with Colleen? 🙋🏼♂️
calibrate your monitor and/or fix your color space, the video is gray
Noi italiani a fare auto siamo i numeri uno. Non ce storia
Respectfully… The Testarossa was never a Supercar considered by Enthusiasts as well as Ferrari… I was that kid…😊
Just to change the belts on this car, the whole engine needs to be dropped because the belts are right behind the rear window and those belts need constant changing. $$$$$
The single hub on the rims was a nightmare. That's why Ferrari opted for the 5 lug nut rims on later models.
Why one mirror on the drivers side????.....which is why Ferrari opted to 2 mirrors on later models.
IF you buy a Ferrari, you marry the mechanic...literally.
Ferrari's ethos is: "We sell cars to finance Ferrari racing....especially in F1".....hence why EVERYTHING having to do with a Ferrari is extremely expensive.
C4 is screaming 80'. Take notice.
Testa ross ah. Not row sah.
je prends la fille
GTA cheetah ??
tessta ross a
Tell you what., I'll give you 45K for it and you can keep the luggage. Lol
Double ss
She keeps saying Testarowsa she does not even how what car she is standing next to
Pronounce it right!
