You saved me!!! I am a singer and use backup tracks and I was doing the pitch changes but the quality was horrible, this way makes it sound so good!!! Im so happy I found your video! Thank you so much
I do parodies and sometimes struggle to sing a song if it's out of my range, and I've been using Garage Band for 3 years with no idea it could do this, and it's so simple, thank you!!
Thank you thank you THANK YOU! I had to look through a ton of vids before I found your 2 minutes of instructions. Why can't everyone just cut to the chase like you? :))
Thank you very much. That was quick and extremely helpful. I wanted to alter the pitch for some of the songs for my vocal students to sing. Earlier I was using Song Surgeon, but now I discovered that I can do the same thing on Garage Band. Much Appreciated!
Thank you for your quick and very helpful video! At first it only transposed the intro....then I figured out that at every spot that I had split the region at the playhead, I needed to redo in each section what you taught in this video. It took an extra minute....but it worked. I have a question I am new to garage band. I imported my track from iTunes. It didn't seem to matter what track type it was, but does that come into play where it may only work on Audio track type and not a Software instrument track type?
Thanks for posting this, I just tried it on a track I'm recording for some that needs the song a whole step higher but nothing changed. I tried to lower it , raise it several pitches but nothing changed
Hmmm maybe it only works with MP3s and MP4s I haven't tried with recorded tracks. Try recording it, then sharing it to iTunes as an MP3 then drag and drop it into a new project. That might do the trick
@@MannysGameRoom Hi I shared it to MP3 and the Transposing slide does not work , and I check off Follow Tempo and Pitch ...not sure what to do ...thank you
this was great and straight forward, could you show how to get plugins working? i was able to get vocals in the sample keyboard on mobile phone but not mac :/
Is there like an automation clip for changing the pitch? I could only do it for the volume, kinda hard to explain but I just know FL Studio could do it
Thank you very much for the explanation! I have a question: GB only changes the pitch in 1/2-steptones. Is there a way to adjust the pitch gradually in smaller steps than that? I would like to play along with a MMO recording (Mozart piano concerto), and the orchestra on CD is just a LITTLE too low for my piano, so I am looking for a way to correct this - but I don't want to transpose the audio by a whole 1/2 step. Is there a way to adjust this?
There used to be a technique using what they call ‘coins’ on old versions of Garage Band. I haven’t used it in years. Try doing some searches around pitch change by coins. Sorry I can’t be more helpful
Ah yes, where you could adjust the 'coins'. Unsure. But really, working with semitones and tones will make your edits more musically precise and in tune with other players.
@@MannysGameRoom Speak for yourself. For instance, heaps of songs from the 60's i.e. Beatles are "in between" semitones which means they are unplayable on piano or require one to retune guitar. The old GB has it and it was brilliant. Apple have really dumbed down on this one. One step beyond? No, one step BACKWARD!!!
Hi Manny - I'm hoping you can help me with something else. I record my vocals in Garageband, then export it from GB to iTunes (uncompressed). I then move the AIFF file into iMovie to add video to the audio, and export it to my desktop. Then I upload it to IG and FB. But by then the audio sounds like crap. How can I prevent from losing audio quality once I try to upload it to IG & FB? Any advice you can give would be most appreciated!
Have you tried using Logic Pro X? It's like Garage Band but so many more options to polish and bounce your song to be used with other projects. It's expensive but maybe you can get a free trial?
I have a other Question if you don’t mind do you have any website for IOS for free I really want to Make a video and I really what to change that Pitch
Yeah you can if you split the song into segments and put each segment on its own track. For example have the intro as track 1. Cut the rest of the song out and paste it into track two for the verse, then the same for the chorus etc. Hope this helps

I was about to hire someone online to change the pitch for a song but you saved me. I did it myself! Thank you!
Oh that’s awesome! Super glad it helped you.

Oh I'm so glad! :) Have fun singing!

Can you change pitch (transpose) a karaoke song and create an mp4 output?
Is there a way to do this on an ipad? I have a song that i need to transpose but i use an ipad.
can you do that in Ableton or Reaper? similarly?
It is not able on iphone version? Only mac and ipad version able?
How do I download any song from android that provides a pitch version?
how can I switch the key for the whole song without messing the vocals ?
Unless they're separate tracks you can't sorry to say
No matter what I do, I am unable to click the box that would allow me to transpose. Help anyone?
Have you double clicked on the track? (For instance, where the orange part is on my screen)
What if you want to change less than a semitone? The old Garageband used to do that.
Ah yes, where you could adjust the 'coins'. Unsure. But really, working with semitones and tones will make your edits more musically precise and in tune with other players.

what if I have multiple instrument tracks?
hello can you help me out? I'm having a bit of a trouble here. why can't I click the follow tempo and pitch button? thank you
Hmmm, try clicking the headphones button the track that you want to work with so that you can isolate it.
It's not working for me. Any tips? Thanks
Hmm maybe try another version of Garage Band?
And how do i save it?
Go to export or share.
How are you able to include music? I need to do the same
Just drag and drop your music from itunes :)
So this means -1 = a half note down right?
That's right. One semitone, or one note down on the piano
@@MannysGameRoom thanks man, really helpful 😍🤘
can i do this using the garageband mobile app? :(
I actually haven't tried sorry!
what is website or link to use this?
It's a program on Mac called Garage Band
