In today's episode of "Puppet Panic", I'm going to talk about a bunch of classic British Puppet TV shows that I grew up with! FOLLOW ME ON TWITCH: / jambareeqi
7:10 Thunderbirds is my Favorite Puppet TV Show ever & 1 of my ALLTIME Favorite TV shows ever. I grew up with it when i was 4 years old when Sweden (were im from) aired it in 1994 to 1996 with swedish voices. The organisation is then called Thunderbirdpatrullen, wich means Thunderbirdpatrol in swedish, instead of International Rescue & i think its a BETTER name for the organisation then International Resue since the show & the vehicles are called Thunderbirds & they use the phrase "Thunderbirds are Go", so i think it makes sense that Sweden named it Thunderbirdpatrol in the swedish dub. 💙
I love this video, I hope you cover more British puppet shows like The Basil Brush Show, Bodger And Badger, Playdays, Tots TV, Mopatop's Shop, The Hoobs, the other Gerry Anderson shows (e.g. Captain Scarlet, Joe 90, Stingray, etc.) and Andy Pandy (the 1950s version) in the future.
Captain scarlett!! Thanks mate thats been driving me round tryin to think what it was called , do you remember centurions, not puppett but best 80s cartoon in my opinion. Cheers again man
10:14 which was probably why he was reimagined as Indian in the 2004 live action movie where he was played by British actor Ben Kingsley but was also likely the reason why he was reimagined as British from Mongolian descent in the CGI reboot
During my college years, the girl I hung out with had an assistant teacher 👨🏫 that didn't like Pingu because the characters don't talk English. I told her that I think 💭 it's fun to invent a language but she was so determined to win the argument, she googled on her phone 📱 a report (that she didn't show me) that stated Pingu was banned from TV 📺 because the characters don't talk English. It is so wonderful to hear 👂 you talk about the benefits to the autistic children 👶 that gibberish shows have. I never saw the original Bill & Ben when I was a kid but I saw a couple of episodes of the stop-motion reboot. My nana (grandma)'s neighbours had Bill & Ben gnomes. Apparently Gerry Anderson was determined for his puppetry to look 👀 better than Bill & Ben and Nick Park thought 💭 it was lame 😒 that Bill & Ben stayed in the garden instead of exploring the beautiful landscape backgrounds. Someone in one of my fan groups created his own animated short called Bill N Back. I told him about Bill & Ben and convinced him to research and double check that there aren't chances that people could mistakenly call his work Bill & Ben instead of Bill N Back when spreading it through word of mouth 👄
I remember seeing Rosie & Jim advertised as a kid and watching one episode in preschool. I still remember and love ❤️ the theme song. At college, the girls in my class looked up Rosie & Jim and found the puppets so creepy they were surprised 😳 that they liked it as kids (almost tempting me to introduce them to The Oogieloves for a laugh 😂). Watching your review of it, it amazes me how much you say that the show stands out and holds up! It especially blows my mind that you think 💭 Rosie & Jim are like Beavis & Butthead
A friend of mine is going to be showing me Rosie & Jim sometime hopefully in future. I’ve already been introduced to Sooty & Co. and I love it! Matthew is hilarious, the puppets are so adorable, and the show is just really cute and funny Can’t wait to see what else you’ve got to talk about :)
I agree with you, Ragdoll Productions had a golden age in the 1990s with shows like Rosie And Jim, Tots TV, Brum (seasons 1 and 2) and of course Teletubbies.
The first Thunderbirds episodes I ever saw (when I was 5) were Pit Of Peril, The Mighty Atom and The Perils Of Penelope. Then my mum and I went to a museum in London called The Movieum which had room with a featurette of Behind The Scenes of Thunderbirds that included my hero Nick Park talking about watching it as a kid. Having found out my hero loves Thunderbirds, I watched the whole show and the 3 movies 🎥 as a preteen. I even have a whole DVD collection of every Thunderbirds episodes (which my mum also loves) and have seen plenty of Behind-The-Scenes looks at it. My mum finds The Hood so evil, she doesn't enjoy hating him (we have the same reaction to Syndrome from The Incredibles) so she'll be happy 😊 to know that he doesn't hold up. Even though it's puppetry, I consider Thunderbirds to be one of the main things that inspired me to study animation (the others are Looney Tunes, Wallace & Gromit, Dr Seuss and Thomas The Tank Engine). I too am surprised 😳 children 👶 enjoyed it when it first came out. Some people in my life can't enjoy Thunderbirds because they think 💭 it looks fake. Last summer, I joined several Facebook fan groups, including 4 Gerry Anderson fan groups. Those groups hate the CGI reboot series, so it's a real treat hearing you say that it's for children 👶 of today, because I love ❤️ it. However I recently made the mistake of posting Trey Parker's "negative" opinion of Thunderbirds in one ☝️ of the groups and got kicked out of the group
Captain Pugwash was puppets? I thought it was paper/card cutouts, similar to the human characters in the old "Paddington" shorts, or like how "South Park" started life?
I never heard of Captain 👩✈️ Pugwash until it was talked about in a lecture on my animation university course. The tutor raved about how the characters have dirty names like Master Bation. My dad also knows it and sees it a similar way to the tutor. It's great 👍 hearing from you what it specifically is
Honestly regarding the 2000s Bill and Ben remake, I'd really love to see a video similar to this made on British stop motion telly programmes! We sure have a lot of them, and I find it really interesting, we still have a couple running today, so it doesn't seem like we're ready to give it up quite yet :)
Such interesting selections! I'll have to give these a watch for myself sometime! I think it's incredible how 'Rosie and Jim' was filmed in your hometown when you were growing up! As for 'Benny and Bill', I certainly think there's nothing wrong with the main characters of a main show not speaking clear English. (Let's not forget that there are lots of other shows that do it, even ones aimed at kids!)
The first thing I ever saw of Rainbow 🌈 was a marmite advert starring Zippy. Then I saw an advert for it on a VHS. Then I saw Zippy & George on the puppet special episode of The Weakest Link, which led to me seeing a Top Gear parody starring Zippy & George and a rude episode of the show. In both the Marmite advert and The Weakest Link, Zippy's lips 👄 were zipped to shut him up, a joke I sadly haven't seen in the few Rainbow episodes I've seen. A member of Rainbow died while I was at university and the News report on him had another member stating that Zippy gets away with murder (Is that true?). It seems the most popular Rainbow episode on RUclips (that I know of) is naughty Zippy. People say that Zippy has negative 👎 traits that they don't like in other characters but they do like in Zippy. The VHS advert made it look 👀 like Zippy, Bungle and George magically appear when the end of a rainbow hits the ground. Having found out that's not true, could someone please tell me why the show is called Rainbow?
That police officer from rainbow it’s like the stereotype of British police officers look at the invisible Man from 1933 that is the exact same stereotype
I watched a lot of Sooty (VHS specials, Sooty & Co and especially The Sooty Show) when I was a kid and a preteen. It's very nostalgic to me. It's also amazing 😉 hearing from you that Matthew appeared on Rainbow 🌈. What do you think 💭 of the current Sooty host Richard Cadell compared to Matthew Corbett and Harry Corbett?
I just discovered that series online last year, as I was struggling to get through what has been happening! It really helped me get through all the stress-especially leading up to the US presidential election!
Which came out first: Bill & Ben The Flowerpot Men or The Railway Series? If The Flowerpot Men came out first, I'm surprised 😳 Reverend Wilbert Awdry got away with calling 2 of his characters Bill & Ben
"George is the shy quiet one"
That's one way to put it I guess xD
When Matthew Corbett sprayed by that water gun, he looked at the camera like Oliver Hardy

OH YES! NETFLIX'S 'THE DARK CRYSTAL'!!! THAT'S GOING TO BE A FUN ONE TO TALK ABOUT!!!
10:14 which was probably why he was reimagined as Indian in the 2004 live action movie where he was played by British actor Ben Kingsley but was also likely the reason why he was reimagined as British from Mongolian descent in the CGI reboot
The style of animation in Captain Pugwash looks identical to Clutch Cargo’s style of animation

My opinion the best British show is Teletubbies
I agree with you, Ragdoll Productions had a golden age in the 1990s with shows like Rosie And Jim, Tots TV, Brum (seasons 1 and 2) and of course Teletubbies.
If your gonna make part 2 also include Milkshake Monkey and the Cebbebies and BBC dog puppets (loved this video though)

Will you be planning to do Jim Henson’s The Storyteller in a future puppet panic episode?

2:13, I can see Rosie and Jim watching music videos.

I love Sooty so much
@Jambareeqi Do y’all remember The Tweenies (1999-2001).

Have you seen Peter Rabbit 2 yet? Because I know you're not a fan of the first film and if you have seen Peter Rabbit 2 what are your thoughts?

@@jacobbelow I think that's the 2020 reboot, I meant the original version from 1984.
@@levipeabody2344 Right, it does have a reboot. But I think either one would make for a good topic.
@@jacobbelow agreed
I have a request you can do a review about the time cebiess shows came together to support children in need
