I had the privilege of meeting Spinney in 2018 he was a guest at a comic con in my state, We talked at his panel for a good 10-15 minutes and during the conversation he told me that doing ‘Follow that Bird’ was one of his absolute FAVORITE things he’s ever done in not just Sesame Street but in his life too. He is a such a pure, humble and talented soul and it’s a shame that he passed away
I loved that movie, I felt so bad for big bird when they turned him blue and honest sidenote Carol Spinney was absolutely amazing.
R.I.P
Carol Spinney
The moment where Big Bird sings in the cage and then sheds a tear😢... I just burst into tears!
Same too I actually cry tear it sad
This is The Saddest Song of the Entire Movie :(
You described my love for Big Bird so accurately.
Rip carol spinney you were a great big bird and a great Oscar the grouch
5:35 Here's another solution to this problem.
When the Sesame Street characters are starting to rescue Big Bird, there's a moment where Bert and Ernie are in their flight gear and head to their plane. Bert nervously asks if Ernie is capable of flying a plane, to which Ernie says yes and laughs.
Why not have Bert fly it? He's more responsible than Ernie.
When I was a kid, I would hide in a dustbin. One day my dad found me in there and asked was I playing Hide and Seek, I answered "No, I'm Oscar the Grouch" .
That's adorable xD and much more normal than when me & my brother asked my dad to make us coffins, after watching an episode of "Goosebumps"
Have you ever seen the Ryan Reynolds film "Buried"?
Baz The Storyteller Nope
Sam Pepper and his mate had to spend 24 hours buried in a coffin. The funniest part is when his friend had to pee.
This has to be one of my most favorite movies from Sesame Street, alongside The Adventures Of Elmo In Grouchland, but the first film was way better. Surely the film didn’t do well at the box office back then, but every Sesame Street fan love this film. This film is, to me, a cult classic.
I loved this movie as a kid and still do. In fact when I was old enough to get a Blockbuster card, this was the first movie I rented.
The last time I saw this movie was when my mom was alive. I absolutely love this movie. Best movie ever. I haven’t seen this movie in a long time. Oh, how I miss seeing this movie. It makes me think of my mom who sadly passed away in 2016.
Aww, how sad.
R. I. P Caroll Spinney.
This Film I watched over and over in my childhood.
I agree that Earnie was a negligent character. Not knowing any better as.a child found the airplane scene very entertaining.
What I loved most about the film, as a child and as an adult, of the sesame characters both Muppets and humans sticking together and the road trip fun.
RIP to Jim Henson always thinking outside the box and how outdoing one challenge after another in his films. I read somewhere that the Bert and Ernie airplane musical number Upside-down World was is indeed performed upside down I think 18 feet off the ground. Also, the risks and discomfort that Jim and Frank took to meet these challenges to WOW audiences.
Ohhhh, the memories I have with this film. One of those guilty pleasures of mine. I have such a big soft spot for Sesame Street. Its just one of those childhood classics that I refuse to part ways with. Excellent review, Jambareeqi! :)
"Follow That Bird" is actually a very good movie--perhaps too good for a "children's movie." A league above "Elmo in Grouchland." It's one of those flicks you can watch as an adult--Sesame Street fan or not--and not feel totally ashamed. Having come from a family that's dealt with social workers, the movie's plot well resonates with me.
The Puppeteer is Dead he passed away last year😭🧟♂️😭
A childhood favorite of mine! Thank you so much for making this video! I'm glad that you didn't overlook this one. Because I love Sesame Street so much! And IMO, this is the best movie from them.
I love this movie so much, and the scene when Big Bird is painted blue and locked in a cage always makes me sad. But you know something? I actually think that the Sesame Street bands [Little Jerry and the Monotones, Little Chrissy and The Alphabeats, How Now Brown and the Moo Wave] should've had a movie of their own! Also, I think other puppet shows like Pinwheel and Eureeka's Castle could make good movies.
Not a dry eye in the house when Big Bird sings I’m So Blue
This was one of my favorite movies when I was little. And mind you I am much younger than this movie, so that means it still really holds up
Wait
If big bird, which is already gigantic, is a kid then that means that when he is an adult he will be as tall as a building
The word panic makes me think that all of these puppet movies are going to be scary lol
It's something I've realised lately, but too late to change the show's name now.
Change The Show's Name???
I Don't See Anything Wrong With It!!
This movie does bring up very important messages. Things they don't talk about in today's kid shows.
Like What??
That I'm so blue song is absolutely depressing I always tear up everytime I hear it
I remember this coming on TV for the first time as a kid, and I must admit I found it pretty boring back then. Seen it again since as an adult and enjoyed it, but it just couldn't keep my attention when young.
Same thing with TRON.
Hey, Larry Bundy Jr.!!
I Guess You Liked It Too, Eh??
i still find tron boring
I Love Sesame Street Presents Follow That Bird------BEST MOVIE EVER!!
I love this movie and big bird.
I'll Admit, Ernie's Plane Stunt Wasn't That Bad!!
This video is making me feel even more sad that Carroll Spinney retired before Sesame Street turned fifty! To be fair, he recorded lines for the fiftieth season, but still!
yes me too. also there is a sesame street land coming to seaworld orlando on march 27th the same date as the opening of lego movie world.
do you know that Oscar the grouch and big bird were voiced by the same person? weird huh.
This was one of the many movies from my childhood
I loved this movie when I was little. Ms. Finch used to scare me tho 😅
Ah yes sesame street every bodies childhood and it will live into the next generation. :)
Great Memories Of Jim Henson And Frank Oz!!
Have you heard the sad news? Carol's retiring!
Yep, it's sad but good for his health
@@Jambareeqi I actually cried at that. Sesame Street was my childhood!
I agreed with you. big bird is my favourite too.
One of my favorite childhood movies! Aaaa I wish I could find my copy from when I was little ;u;
My sisters is watching movie follow that bird❗️
Really, This Was (Sort Of) Like A Mix Between "Disney's Homeward Bound" And "Hanna-Barbera's Wacky Races"??
I (sort Of) Didn't Know That!!
Is it sad I never watched this film when I was a kid?
I never watched this movie as a kid either which is ironic since Sesame Street was a massive part of my childhood
Its Still Been 4 Or 5 Years Since I Watched This Movie!!
This Is A Great Tribute To Jim Henson!!
And Carol Spinny Does A Great Job Voicing And Preforming The Roles Of Oscar The Grouch And Big Bird Before He Died & Someone To Take His Place!!!
I can’t believe you didn’t bring up the sick car chase
Elmo in grouchland and Blue's big city adventure does the same thing and I hope the third movie will do the same. If only dora and the lost city of gold was like this by staying faithful to the style and feel of the show, keeping the interactivity in the style of blue's clues to simulate the interactivity style of the original show and feeling like a real movie at the same time along with bringing back old characters and old elements like the explorer stars, some of the classic outfits and filming in both real locations and cgi digital ones in the style of the original show and especially in the costumes and cgi character designs.
4:08 Like if you thought your phone was turned upside down🤣
Jambareeqi do you think this movie handles adult themes such as animal cruelty better than films like rio or Ferdinand?
Big bird's muppeteer is still alive??
Yep, and still working. Matt Vogel (who is also the new puppeteer for Kermit) is his current understudy.
Thanks for the update Dillon! Wasn't too sure after the events of "I am Big Bird"
I Still Miss Jim Henson!!
Carroll preforms neither character now live,he does however still voice Big Bird and Oscar at least. He can't preform Big Bird anymore due to strength and when the redid the sets for the latest seasons of sesame street the trash can space is now to small and not much room for the muppeteers to use anymore.
I Thought He Did!!
Hey Jambareeqi, I have a question: Would you like to see a live-action/puppet/animated Sesame Street movie adaptation by Universal, Illumination, and Sesame Workshop?
Depends on the story
A Live actio/Puppet/Animated Sesame Street film??
That might not be quite bad..........if only I know how that would work out.
I Actually Have This Movie On Video And DVD!!
Is it me, or "Cars" by Gary Numan should’ve played in this movie while the Sesame Street gang set off to find Big Bird.
What's Your Favorite Song From Follow That Bird And Elmo In Grouchland?
I don't have a favourite from Elmo in Grouchland, but my favourite from Follow that bird was maybe "Easy Going Today"
I Haven't Heard That Song In A While, Its Catchy!!
And That's Alright If You Don't Have A Favorite Song From Elmo In GrouchLand (And To Be 100% Honest, Its Been Awhile Since I Lasted Watched Elmo In GrouchLand....So I Can't Remember Which Song Is My Favorite Either)!!
Oscar is Big Bird
Do thomas and the magic railroad
NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Wish my kids saw this movie
Carol spiny retired in October
This Is Still The First Sesame Street Movie!!
1:00 Derek savage just got triggered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Could Never Understand What Bird Species Big Bird Is Suppose To Be!!
He's a biggus canarius
@@dr_drawings That's a bird species??
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 No, but Big Bird says that's his species in this video ruclips.net/video/fc2yFoq09ug/видео.html
I Told You There Was More Than One Sesame Street Movie That Went To Theaters!!
I've always known about Follow that bird, you didn't personally inform me of it's existence.
Oops, Sorry!!!
But Its Great To Hear Your Opinion On This Movie
Why big bird is blue⁉️
I think barkley should've helped look for big bird too he has a great sniffer
The Sleaze Brothers painted him blue so no one would recognize him
History books biography book biography Tcm 1985 35th anniversary celebration. New
I Think The Nostalgia Critic Tried To Review This Movie Before!!
Are You Very Good Friends With Nostalgia Critic?
He did review it, and I'm not friends with Doug Walker, but I have met him.
So You Did Met Him----But I You're Not Friends With Him....Okay, Just Checking!!!
It'll Be Cool If You Reviewed Scooby Doo Mask Of The Blue Falcon And Scooby Doo & Batman The Brave And The Bold With Him-------Think About It!!
He wouldn't be interested in collaborating with me, i'm a very very small RUclipsr compared to him. I'm flattered you want to see me crossover with him, but try to be realistic about the possibility.
Okay, I'll Try To Be More Realistic About Things The Next Time You Review Something!!
It's a shame Elmo never got any lines if he did he'd be after his boyfriend big Bird with a shotgun and at the end he engolfs himself in big birds rechtum
This movie was made & released before Elmo was even considered to be a major character on Sesame Street because for the first half of the 1980s (1980 - 1985), he was an afterthought to children who watched that television show.
Big bird isn’t Elmo’s boyfriend no offence but where did you get an idea like that?
