NICE WIDEO!!! I caught a 40 inch red and it didn’t have any worms and it was really tasty, my buddies also caught some 35 inchers to and they didn’t have worms, and they are really good eating.
Hey congratulations on those catches. I’ve actually never tried it. I don’t cook a lot of fish because I always mess it up. 😂 I saw a 30”Red with worms once and was told most over slot Reds have them. So I will only keep 20-24”. But I will give away an over slot with my tag each year. I’ve never used my over slot tag.
red drum is actually one of my favorite fish to eat, its good in spicy soups because the meat doesnt really fall apart but its not tough. i dunno how else you would prepare it otherwise my mom cooks the fish i catch lol.
I just don’t like the taste or texture when they get above slot. But everyone has their preference. I bought an extra tag this year, so I hopefully can give away 2. I don’t really keep many fish. But my daughter loves to clean and cook. So when I get a slot, we will definitely keep it.
Ha !! ....the son really wanted Redfish for dinner !! FYI - Texas Saltwater License provide for one over-sized red per season. ....else 20-28 inch slot, 3 per day. However, you can also purchase a bonus red drum tag that will allow you to keep one additional oversized redfish during the same year.

Just a word of advice next time someone ask for over size red fish you have to ma,make, sure he has a fishing license so he can use his tag because you can get in trouble if he doesn't and you have to give him paperwork with you license to it is the law that Way you both don't get in trouble

Gave him my tag. Or should I say I tagged it after I gave it to him.
Redfish tags don’t transfer to someone other than the holder of the fishing license. Especially if he doesn’t even possess a fishing license.
