No one might see this comment but I used to get beat and abused for years. At one point my own mama didn't recognize me. I was so beat down physically and mentally I didn't think I could ever leave. I know so many will say why didn't you just leave. Easier said than done. My then, young sons watched everything that happened. I still carry that guilt to this day and they are 31 and 29. I finally was able to get out after 10 years. This song gets me every time I hear it.

When you can get in thruck!. Took me 26yrs to wait in the truck. That was due to cops saying black eyes, swollen mouth with missing teeth didn't mean he was abusive. He was shorter than me & they always accused me of abuse????? Like a short person cannot abuse someone taller?????? WTF with men? They worry more about their dick than their lives!

That is so true. I’m a 66 year old white grandmother that scared a boy to death 3 weeks ago for putting his hands on my 17 year granddaughter. We I found out why she was crying , I got my
Aluminum baseball bat busted in the room and told him to get out before I knocked his d head off with one lick and he better be gone before I got my 12 gauge pump shot gun. And some how he disappeared so fast he was a blurr. I got in the car and my husband came with me, but I couldn’t find him no where. Lol ant heard from him no more And that’s a true story. When you talked about "Love Language" you were spot on. Too many women have grown up waiting for the shoe to drop and a fist to strike from someone they were told loved them. For them it's all a part of being loved because of the twisted way they were raised. What's worse is that it can destroy any good relationship they may find. They meet a decent guy and the longer they are together the more worried, jumpy and skittish they become. They only know the cycle of the buildup, the snap to abuse, then a short time of "security" while the buildup starts all over. The longer the buildup the worse the snap and abuse will be. I was raised right and never even raised a hand in anger to a woman. When I was 29 and dating a 27 year old woman I learned how it works. For the first month and a half things were fine. Then she started getting quiet and apologizing for the tiniest things that really were nothing. She started jumping anytime I would reach for something or just move my arms too fast. Kept getting worse and worse. I realized she had become afraid of me. I played our whole time together over and over in my head. I couldn't see anything that would cause that fear. Finally one night we sat down and I asked her. It was an all night conversation from there. Short version: something inside her was waiting for the moment I blew up and hit her. Shocked is an understatement. All I could do was ask "Why?". By the end of the night we were both in tears. Yeah, I cried. I felt sad and helpless wishing I could go back and undo what had been done. I also hid the anger I felt and the desire to go have "conversations" with certain people because the last thing she needed that night was to actually see me angry about anything. We didn't stay together but are still friends even now. I cannot confirm nor deny that none of those "conversations" took place. And, luckily, she trusted me enough to keep talking honestly about her life, especially any guy she dated. Anyway it was an eye opener. She went to counseling and leaned on me for several years. I watched her self esteem keep improving along with her relationships. She has been married almost 5 years now to a good decent guy, whom I became friends with as well. I only wish things could turn out as well for any woman caught in the same abuse cycle.

Its been a year so you might not see this, but when he was talking about that I was thinking about the same thing. I grew up in an abusive household and the violence and abuse has become so normal to me that I expect it in a relationship and tend to find people who are aggressive more attractive because that's what I'm used to, it's a weird cycle cause I don't want that relationship like my mum did over and over again but it's what I'm used to and what I associate with "love".

I love the line "I never thought my day of justice Would come from a judge under a seat..." because there is a gun called a Judge, so it's a pretty creative play on words. This song and this video is brilliant. It's a callback to the days when MTV and CMT actually played music videos and singers made videos like this that went along so well with the song. I'm making myself sound old but I miss those days and those videos that were like mini-movies, like Reba's video "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" and Garth Brooks's "Standing Outside The Fire."
Hardy sings quite a few great songs and fun fact, he has written some pretty incredible songs for others. He co-wrote "Come Back As A Country Boy" and "God's Country" by sang by Blake Shelton, and "Beers On Me" sang by Dierks Bentley and several other songs.
The man has some serious talent.

This song brings back a very painful memory I thought I buried 50 years ago. It brought tears remembering the hell I loved for , 4years before I escaped. Waking up to a flying fist and running down the stairs with shots fired at me, trapped in a bathroom and pistol whipped and stomped in the face. Shot in the foot running and a gun to my head more times than ycan count. I finally got so scared I didn't care anymore! I was in a restaurant/ bar where my mom worked and he came in and said if I didn't leave with him he would blow me away! I was terrified but then I thought we'll go ahead, I'm tired of living this way. I looked around and saw people we knew and told him to go ahead because all these witnesses will put you under the jail! He turned and walked out! From that day on, I decided no man would ever lay a hand on me again! He tried to sweet talk me into coming back but I was done and he knew it. I was scared for a long time but I got myself some protection, and knew I'd use it! He moved out of state and I stayed single for over a year to get my head straight. Met a wonderful man! Raised a big family and were together 43 years and married just over 40 before he passed on. God Bless all the women that have gone through and are going through it! There's a Big light at the end of that tunnel! ❤❤

Loved this reaction. New subscriber. I have never been a fan of country music but I did find this a couple months ago. I can't watch it without crying, but I do enjoy watching reactors as new to it as me. Ages ago, I was her. My abuser made the mistake of thinking my one close friend, who was gay, was not a "man" so he couldn't do anything to stop him. He didn't hide the abuse from him even when I was tied up or bleeding. One day, my friend showed up with two other men and they broke in that "double-wide door" and beat him pretty good. Then he was off to jail on a former warrant of abuse as well. I went into a shelter and finally ended up safe, states away with a new life. 2 years later, he got out...tried it with another young girl and her father unalived him. My friends sent me the news articles. I'm glad for this song and happy for your reaction, so thank you, Sir.

I had to run with my 3 babies to save our lives, we started over with only the clothes we were wearing, the cops were no help (I tried repeatedly and they looked at my bloody busted up face and told me if did as I was told he wouldn't hit me) and after years of getting away with it, he just got worse. Every situation is different, but the constant is that no one has the right to abuse another person, I couldn't tell my brothers how bad it was or I would've been told to wait in the truck.

Thank you for such an enthusiastic reaction. This song hits home for SO many women and the failure of the supposed justice system is in large part to blame. I was kidnapped at gunpoint by my ex after I’d left him and he’d paid someone who was supposed to be my friend two grand to find me. The police literally didn’t even investigate, not even after the serial numbers from his gun started materializing on the huge knot on my forehead. Only one detective believed me. Two years later, that same detective was subpoenaed at the trial that finally imprisoned him. She said she was traumatized by my case because she knew that when I left the police station, I would probably end up murdered and there was absolutely nothing she could do. Finally he did something so heinous with so much evidence against him that FINALLY I was heard and believed. It only took two years of me being held hostage and assaulted and beaten to near death and involvement of the SWAT team for me to get away, luckily alive but barely so. He got attempted murder and other charges…….did six years and got out. So many women die waiting for the justice system to do it’s damn job, which inevitably means the asshole does a year or so and gets out even IF they actually see a day in court. Restraining orders do NOTHING. The justice system does NOTHING. But a good man or woman with an equalizer can………

    Lord have mercy on him!

Thank you so much for this reaction-what you said to the women is priceless advice. I’m 56 and lived with my first husband who verbally and occasionally (2 x a year I guess) beat me for 27 years. He’d leave me on the side of the road in the snow with our 3 kids watching as they’d drive off. I left him finally-and married a good man I’d known for just as long. He’s a good man-not a narcissist like my first husband -but I knew he had a temper too. in the 7 years we’ve now been married he went to jail once for choking me when he was drunk, and another time gave me a black eye. He quit drinking and went to anger therapy and I’ve stayed married-but the total trust I thought I had is gone. I’m “too nice” as I never want to rattle the cage I guess. I can honestly say I’m not a difficult or mean person. I just accept too much. I’m a middle class woman from a good family-I. Have a home and what I need, but it has cost me more than I wished. My dad never even raised his voice or spanked me as a child-he passed 3 years ago from Alzheimer’s. I didn’t learn it, but got married the first time at 22 right out of college and it caught me by surprise- I’d never seen violence. But my youngest child is my only girl-and she has allowed men to physically, mentally and sexually abuse her. The cycle I started is repeating itself. My life is not all bad-I’m not asking for pity or sympathy at all-but I want to say sir that your words are so true. I’ve rewatched this reaction several times. You give me hope for the next generation. My oldest son came to visit (27) last week. He unbeknownst to me was upset with my ex his dad and he brought over unknown to me a bottle of vodka. He is a “sometimes”recovered addict of 14 years, and last week he drank that vodka and took something. I begged him not to leave or let me drive him home but he was out of his mind drunk. He kicked in my whole glass storm door and shattered it when i took his keys, and then grabbed them from me. I told him I’d call the police if he tried to drive. I tried to block his car and couldn’t-he hit 60mph in my quiet neighborhood in 10 seconds with people out walking, driving through the yards. So i did what I said and called the police to stop him. They arrested him and he went nuts and of course to jail. Now my son won’t speak to me, and my exes family thinks I am so awful for turning him in. But you know what? I’m doing what’s right to break this cycle of violence drinking and aggression. He may never speak to me again-but he and whatever stranger that might have been in his path are all still above ground and not 6 feet under this week. So I’m trying to break this cycle I allowed to start over 30 years ago. I’m strong, I’m happy despite it all-and I hope I’m “writing” a guidebook for my daughter and women after me to not not fall into this life, and not be afraid to stand up. I hope I’m one mom that can break the cycle. Sorry this was so long-I just had to let you you know how thankful I am to you, to God, to all that fight this for spreading the message you did. I thank you kind sir!!!

Love your reaction. This song hits hard. EVERY thing you saw and reacted to, was exactly the way I reacted when I saw this. I am a country fan, and this introduced me to Lainey and Hardy. Lainey is going to be as big as Carrie Underwood, or, in the 90's, Faith, Martina and maybe even Reba. She is one to watch. Hardy is doing his own take on country. Listen to some others and that dude knows how to friggin' rock! Thumbs up and subscribed.

As you saw with this song, Hardy is a lyrical genius with the way he uses words to tell a story. Definitely check out more of his stuff - there hasn't been a single song I've listened to of his that disappointed. I'd recommend checking out "A Rock", "Give Heaven Some Hell", "Signed, Sober You" and every damn song on the album he just released "the mockingbird & THE CROW".

Sir, thank you from bottom of my heart ♥ for your reaction. I'm a DV survivor. My abuser was my husband and he abused me physically, sexually, mentally and emotionally. He controlled every part of my life as je threatened to hurt my elderly parents and disappear with our son. He was low down enough to do it too. I was so beaten down psychologically, I was terrified to fight back because if I did, it would be my fault if something bad happened to somebody else but me. I went to police and lawyer and law didn't protect me because we were married and if I left, it was considered abandonment per law and he would get our house, land and everything. If I left with our son to protect us both, it was considered kidnapping. If I told daddy, who was 80 but still a crack shot (he didn't miss), I'd be waiting in truck, my husband would be dead and daddy would go to prison. What was i to do? Talk about being in the corner from HELL! My husband had an affair and tried to make side chick my FRIEND to keep me off scent. I had friends to spy and I got pictures and video to use in court and got divorce. For the folks who say, " Why didn't you just leave?" Like it's easy. I say, "Walk in my shoes, keep your big mouth shut, and YOU figure it out when EVERY option you could take is going to get SOMEBODY hurt and maybe really bad. " I'm so grateful to Hardy and Lainey for bringing DV to forefront like this. And thank YOU sir, for your honest and very passionate reaction. May God bless and keep you always.

I grew up like this. Me and my mom got abused for 20 years until I put a stop to it (I'm a 5'4" woman by the way, and he was a cop). He became a guest of our local ICU for 2 weeks.
I still have PTSD re the things that happened to me when I was a kid, but I cant say I wouldnt losetouch with reality and do the same thing to some random abuser just like he did in the song.

Longest reaction I've seen to this song in THE BEST WAY. Thank you for taking the time to truly appreciate this video for what it actually represents. So many others don't give this song the true appreciation it deserves. I'm fortunate to not have experienced this kind of abuse in my life but, unfortunately, I have many friends who were not as lucky. I know this reaction is about 5 months old and I see you haven't done any other Hardy reactions since. If you have a few minutes, PLEASE check out HARDY "Give Heaven Some Hell." Even if you just listen and don't have time to react to it, I promise you it's worth the listen.

No man or woman should raise their hands to another. My ex husband had a woman living with him that abused him. He was a gentle giant and wouldn't defend himself. I found out after the fact and she had moved to another state. I wanted to go find her and make him wait in the truck. He wouldn't let me. I pray to God she doesn't come back because that will be the last to thing she ever does.
