    They obviously think of their customers safety and their own economics. Its nice to see an American airline, not be swayed by all the US Governments aids to buying American.
    To be honest, if I were a CEO of an Airline, I would be very wary of that Boeing management ethos,(Wall Street first, safety last) it could come back to bite me very hard.

      agrreed plus boeing has no answer for the A321neo and A350 unless they add range and payload to 787-9/-10

      @Kevinksk92 Well, the 777X is sort of a combatant to the A350, but it still hasn't been certified, and it's less efficient. They both operate in the same market, and the A350 just does it better. The only thing the 777X has on the A350 is seat capacity, but it's not a large difference

    It must be noted that Richard Anderson was the CEO of Northwest during its conversion to Airbus 330 widened jets. He left Northwest and was eventually Delta's CEO when the Delta/Northwest merger happened. He remained the CEO and was a strong influence in transitioning Delta from a predominately Boeing fleet to a predominately Airbus fleet.
    While Northwest had 747s and 757s from Boeing, the workhorse of their fleet was the DC-9. They also were gradually introducing narrowbody Airbus aircraft to their mainline fleet.
    Delta was predominately Boeing but also had MD 80s aircraft in its fleet preserver.

    If you order a Boeing you just join a massive waiting list, followed by terrible uncertainty over groundings and shit quality. Only 38 737s are produced each month. Only 5 787s are produced each month (!). Because of quality problems. And Airbus' are just better aircraft - more efficient and also more popular with passengers and crew.

    There are a number of arlines in the US that choose predominantly Airbus aircraft. Namely JETBLUE, SPIRIT, FRONTIER, BREEZE; and there were VIRGIN AMERICA and ALLEGIANT, the former being swallowed by Seattle based and Boeing minded ALASKA Airlines, the latter having placed a large B order lately. The largest of all Airbus narrowbody fleets in the US is owned not by DELTA, but by AMERICAN (about 480 units plus 135 more on order). United has 179 A320 family planes in its fleet and 207 more incoming. Airbus is indeed strong at DELTA, but its influence in the procurement strategies of US based airline companies is much stronger than suggested by the video.

    The video says it all: Delta merged with an airline with a huge Airbus fleet in Northwest. As such, it made more sense for Delta to continue flying Airbus planes. And it appears Delta may be looking at large A330-900neo and A320 Family orders to tet rid of the older Airbus jets.

Boeing problems go deeper, now the Boeing Starliner is MARRONED IN SPACE wig 2 US astronauts unable to get back to Earth.

    A smart business will never put "its eggs in one bag". If I was runnning an airline I would always buy 50, 50. 50% from Boeing and 50% from Airbus - irrespective of the "current" Boeing's misfortunes. There is no gaurrantee that Airbus will not have its woes in the future.

      @Kevinksk92 They are the most advanced airplanes for midium range distance already proved not to mention the cost for fuel and maintenance. America airlines just bought around 100 just last month and the Canadian Porter Airline did the same. Delta should not put all its cards on Airbus, just saying.

    • @KlausErmecke
      @KlausErmecke 2 месяца назад +1

      @@apapahristodoulou Well, the airlines currently in trouble are those who put all their cards on Boeing!
      Regarding Embraer, we should notice that their (apparently good) aircraft are positioned BELOW the A220 segment: they have a narrow fuselage, providing only 2-2 seating, and have much less range. The A220 offer 2-3 seating which allows for a larger PAX capacity without stretching the tube too much. DELTA has been building a lot of additional operational flexibility by radically reducing the number of aircraft families (and corresponding pilot and cabin crew pools) in their fleet, with a few more to go. There is no need for DELTA to "lufthansadize" their fleet and start again buying everything what is around.
