    Brandenburg is based on an academic design study of the Bismarck-class armed with twelve 305 mm guns that was brought forward around the time of the 1936 London Naval Treaty. During this time, the naval high command demanded more new ships. Although that wasn't meant to be. Plan Z was just getting started around 1939 until it fell in WWII. Battleship Brandenburg's keel was never laid down. And was later used for U-Boat Designs from the second half of the 1930s.

    thanks for the breakdown - will be interesting to do some comparison - i currently got Odin and Tirpitz, but i prefer Odin due to its speed and manoeuvrability and the sonar makes it much better ship with its reload can catch people out as i like to play it on more aggressive side - will have to see what Brandenburg is like once i grind out the campaign 😁

      Look I'll make it really easy to understand, Brandenburg is a more armored version of the Odin with slightly less mobility than Odin and that's it along with secondary range being extended because it lacks sonar. Tirpitz is still hands down the best one of those failures to get sank in, notice how I worded that. I speak from experience not that any of you millennials care because I know you don't because all of you think that you know everything. War thunder still has better ships than your little game.

    I wanted the Brandenburg until I played several games against them in my Iowa and GA. Nearly every engagement ended the same way. Start at range, then Brandenburg rushes in to get secondaries involved.....I let em keep coming. Let em set a few fires, now they're salivating at the opportunity to drop torps.....I let em keep coming while consistently chunking HP and turning main guns red. When they get to about the 8km mark put it in reverse and there's nothing they can do. Brandenburg bring nothing new or exciting to the German line. It should have gotten 8km torps and shorter range secondaries.

    • @DerkaGames
      @DerkaGames  2 года назад +1

      Lol yeah it can be easily countered. Best way to play them is around islands so that you can disengage. Rushing in open water is usually not the best! They will learn eventually 😄

    I’m thinking of using my Scharnhorst/Gneisenau build on Brandenburg which is Scheer 16/3 with AL Baltimore 16/2 and Guepratte 16/3. This is an agile/speed build that’s very effective for me.
    I can take zero credit for this build as it was inspired by VII Hipper’s videos regarding both ships and the agile build that he demonstrated quite well.
    I have Henry J. Hyde at 16/3 as well so I might use my Bismarck, Odin, Tirpitz, G.K. build which uses Hyde, von Essen and Cunningham.

    Great video, lots of good information.
    For what it’s worth, I’m not sure that this kind of “direct comparison” is the best way to discuss the pros and cons of each ship. It’s certainly a valuable starting point, but I think it loses sight of how the differences between each ship can favour different play styles.
    For example, I knew very early into this video that you would end up preferring the Tirpitz, because your build leaned into the strengths of the Tirpitz. That build is fine on the Brandenburg, but it certainly does not lean into the Brandenburg’s strengths. You state early in the video that you weren’t going to focus too much on the secondaries because you don’t think secondaries are that important in WoWs Legends… that’s a perfectly reasonable opinion in many cases, but I would argue that until you play with a full secondary build Brandenburg, you haven’t experienced what makes the ship special. With my Brandenburg build, any Destroyer that gets spotted within 12km just gets shredded. Cruisers too. And against enemy battleships, I’ve defeated Bismarcks, Iowas, Massachusetts, and even GKs, all of whom have far superior main guns, simply by getting inside my secondary range while staying outside of theirs and then carefully managing my angles and distance.
    Now there’s plenty of room to argue that a Tirpitz with an accuracy build is still the better ship… that’s a fair debate. But at least it’s a debate that looks at the actual strengths of both ships, rather than picking a build that favours the tirpitz right out of the gate.

    • @DerkaGames
      @DerkaGames  2 года назад

      Like mentioned near the end of the video, I think different set ups are warranted, not only to bring a little variety into the equation, but because they are all unique in their own way. It's just not reasonable to objectively measure each ship against each other with an entirely different build (modules, commanders, inspirations, perks, it gets very messy).
      I've played Brandenburg with a full secondary build, it's great and it is also great fun (vid to come, maybe). I truly enjoy it. It still does not sway my opinion on what a Tanky battleship should be able to do successfully though in the current Meta.
      I will say secondary viability has improved greatly since I started playing this game at launch, and old salty players such as myself, should do well to remember that.
      Thanks for the comment, Douglas! I appreciate it

    You must understand that Odin has the same armament that Brandenburg gets, but instead of 9 guns Branden gets 12. Branden also gets faster reload time albeit minor. Branden has the superior 2ndaries compared to Odin and a spotter for her main guns with marginally better main gun accuracy. I went full secondary build with Admiral Lutjens, and due to no hydro acoustic search or radar smoked up destroyers are problematic. I usually will tail one of our dds and use their smoke while they spot and do their things. Once the 2s open up the enemy dds are fishfood. I’ll take the Bradenburg over Odin AND Tirpitzas long as it doesn’t come down to Braden vs a dd to finish the battle lol

The torps should neve be your main use because it get knocked out way to easy so secondaries are the way to go..no one is going to push into you unless they see those knocked out..fighting at mid to close with Brandon with only going in at the last minute. If your secondaries can light fires from 11.9km away Why the hell would you initiate a brawl when you have more fire power..or I should say more shells going down range. Shinyhorse should be used on certain ships Brandon is not one of them neither is the terpitz. Odin yes and scharnhorst but not Brandon or terpitz you have hyde for that
