Today we diagnose a tc that has a misfire. In this situation it was only the coilpack. Many times it goes beyond this basic issue. Thanks for watching! Ig-@mcrib47
Thanks for this video! Saved my tC. I did exactly as you did and my car running smooth again. I panicked a bit when it did start to misfire and I found this video.
i had figured out it was a cyl 4 misfire. but didnt know the cylinder order. your video save me alot of time and money. a new coil and 4 new plugs (bosch double iridium) once i figured out that it also had the original plugs!!! 190,000 on factory plugs!! my 2004 scion xa is purring again!!! time to clear the code and complete a drive cycle. thank you! much appreciated!
If your check engine light blinking wile your driving it’s your modules but also don’t forget to change your plugs I’ve learn that on my own doing a diagnostic reading
Appreciate the input! I did my own field work car had a bad misfire and it is a common issue with this car since the coil packs are so cheap and wear so fast
@@McRib47 not everything the biggest mechanical issue was the fuel injectors and connecting rod bearings with few oil changes in a well over 200,000 mile xa
change all spark plug and ignition coil, car drove good for 700 miles and check engine light came back on. P0302. I swap engine coil and spark plugs and code keeps comming back saying p0302. After reading your comments i'm starting to think it's the fuel injector , what do u guys think ?

Very good video!!!! So my TC has a misfire like you showed. The code reader gave me a P302. I saw other videos n all said bad ignition coil. So I bought all four new and installed them. I scan it again and it gave me P0351, 352, 353 & 354. My car runs poorly now, what can it be? Any thoughts? Thanks!
it did fix it , in the end of the video i show the cel light is gone and car is running good. i would see if you are leaking coolant into cylinder two. if you have a boroscope and radiator pressure tester. I had a car that had the same issue. it ended up leaking coolant into the combustion chamber causing misfire
Hey McRib47 i have a question about the wiring trying to figure out what the wire locations are on the second clip from the left. I can’t tell the color of the wires. So if you could let me know. Thank you
Hey super sorry for late reply, when this video was posted was a few years ago i no longer own the car. maybe you can look up a wiring diagram on google to figure out your issue
When I drive there’s amiss, the auto mechanic switched the first fuel injector to the second and it worked fine, he mentioned it was the computer that is faulty, because they fuel injector is fine and just not registering to release fuel into the engine...
I had a guy tell me the cylinder order was 1234 from drivers side that it always numbered like that. I have a cylinder 2 misfire on my scion tc (2006). Have you heard of this?
Cylinder #3 misfire I replace all the spark plugs and Cylinder # 3 it worked well for 2 weeks and the misfire on Cylinder # 3 came back is a 2016 scion tc
@@McRib47 what is the coil pack if you don't mind explaining to me I still having the same problem after replacing coil po 303 coil #3 and the carscaner says is permanent please help
@@McRib47 yes that is my next step also it could be the harness but I will try injectors first is only 80,000 miles on the vehicle, thank you for the tip I really appreciate it
I would definitely check for vacuum leak and check fuel pressure. do a once over the car and see. If you can figure it out i would take it to a shop. or if is throwing a code go from there.
Lol you where saying how easily thos lil 10's will snap i was tightening my coil pack down on my 08 xb not paying attention and.. boom but rather than snaping the bolt I snapped part of the valve cover threads and all are stuck on the bolt which is now a part of the coil pack.. thank got my valve cover just came in today... moduals ? do you mean ingnition coils ?
The fuel injectors are super common as a misfire fix in Toyota’s / scions
yeah, alot of stuff was made cheap on these scions. everything is brittle and breaks.

Great DIY video bro.
Thank you so much!!!

how did i save you?
On Toyota when there past there 100,000 mile mark, most of the time it's the coil pack.

What computer? I have a xb . Can u help? Look at my vid plz
Have you had any problems with the wiring harness?
Nope I’ve never had any issues.
Yes
I had a guy tell me the cylinder order was 1234 from drivers side that it always numbered like that. I have a cylinder 2 misfire on my scion tc (2006). Have you heard of this?
No it goes from the belt side. Like I described in the video
It's belt-side on the Xa as well, just to confirm
@mcrib47 was the issue the spark plug itself or the coil pack?
the issue was the coil pack
What size tools do I need for the screws?
which screws? on the valve cover or coil plug? if so they are both 10mm
What if you change all of the ignition coils and sparkplugs and is still doing the misfiring
I would check valve clearances
And injectors
I’ve heard that the cylinder order is 1342?? Is that wrong ??
That's what I was told and found as well. You can test by purposely dissconnecting a known good one (not 1) to make sure.
Did you resolve the misfire on the scion? I don't see the updated video...thx
yes it did, it shows at the end that the check engine light is gone.
If replacing the spark plugs and cylinders don't fix the issue could that be the fuel injectors?
What’s the issue you are having? For me it was a coil pack

sorry about that, i didnt catch that. i would recommend checking the coilpacks or spark plugs as i did in the video.
Whenever you get a misfire on a tc it is always the coil pack no matter what. I've had a PO303, 2 coil packs were bad
