I know nothing about cars and never (and I mean never) watch these kinds of videos because they're all full with jargon I don't understand. This video was incredibly easy to follow in a language I could actually understand. When I started this video, I definitely didn't think I'd be leaving a comment thanking you, yet here I am. I just bought a 2015 Tiguan and this was super informative. Can't wait to see what other Tiguan videos you have!
Absolutely fantastic video that includes a few 'watch out fors', sizes of sockets etc. Lined 'em all up, jacked the car up, and had it done, with all checks, in less than half the previous time I did in before. Thanks again!
Great video, very well done! ONE THING THOUGH: when changing fuel filter, you really want someone with Vagcom/VCDS diagnostic software and cycle/prime the fuel transfer pump a few times before starting the engine. This fills the housing and filter and the whole system with diesel again, eliminating all that air. The way you do it introduces a lot of air into the system and may damage high pressure injectors. One DIY way to do it would be to flood the filter housing with diesel when you're done, just like you found it. When I cycle the pump, you can literally hear bubbles for the first one or two cycles.
Hi there Thank you very much. Yes, I usually do it on a newer models to be honest. Unfortunately most people haven't got any diagnostic tools. That's why I always advise to fill it up with a fuel or fuel additives and then cycle ignition 5 or 6 times before starting it up 😀
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne That's the best way to do it when no diagnostics available. Again, thanks for a great video, I know how to do all of this and watched the whole vid anyway! Definitely one of the best out there, you covered it really well.
Great video - really helpful. Just for info, my 2016 Mk1 2.0 TDi bluemotion (150BHP) has the filter underneath, opposite side of sump from the drain plug. You need to move a cable slightly to get at the filter. Remove centre plug first (13mm) to drain the housing, then remove filter housing with 32mm socket. There are two O rings to replace. The engine under tray is a bit fiddly to replace. It's easier to remove both front and back sections, and refit the back section first, then the front section.
Excellent video, thanks for taking the time to record and share it. My CFFB engine Tiguan is exactly the same as this for anyone else reading this and wondering of theirs is the same. I used a sealey vacuum pump for convenience and my bad back and got just over 4 litres out.
Nice , I just did the oil and filter on my 2010 Tiguan - same as you and no issues. I dont have a working torque wrench so I just kind of winged it for tightening the oil filter and sump plug nut ...
I calibrated my torque wrench by hanging some weight off it and calculating the force - I love youtube. Climbed back under the car and checked the sump plug - I tightened it to something a bit more than 30nm it seems - but dont think I did damage- will leave it alone now :) @@AlexTheGrumpyOne
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne hmm in last week my Turbo is whistling a bit more than before and I noticed chugging idle on cold start today and engine temp on dash ( coolant ? ) moving about a bit - like not holding 90deg C but moving down to 70 and back up in a few mins some times.... I wonder if my oil change did naything funny - I didnt go back and check the filter housing was tight enough with the torque wrench after calibrating it. Wondering if not tight enough could let air be sucked in past the seal or something ? Will go check that today and will change the Engine Air filter also! And I'll buy a turbo cleaner spray and try that cos why not :) Oil level seems fine and not leaking. ANy idea? I plugged in VCDS and no obvious realted fault codes - I drove it high revs for a trip also and I think it did the DPF regen so thats good.
Thank you very much, this video was very interesting and informative. I wanted to ask, do you ever flush you engine and if so what do you flush it with? I heard that flushing it with a mixture of diesel and fresh engine oil is very good .
Thank you. 👌 No, personally I avoid doing it as most of the cars usually got over 80k on them already and its not recommended as it can cause issues. Flush is good on lower mileage cars and also when it's been done before. Specially if it a chain engine with high mileage... u can create a big issue.
Hi, great video thanks. Isn't there a water trap on fuel system? My 2021 Tiguan has fuel filter same as yours, you think it won't bleed with being hooked up to diagnostic stuff? Doesn't water gather in bottom of bowl? My oil filter with 24mm nut, is underneath car
Thank you for the oil filter info 😀 Yes yours will definitely need a diagnostic tool to bleed it unfortunately. There is no drainer for the water on them unfortunately
So why didn't you empty the bowl to get rid of any water that might be there? At you guessing about the diagnostic tool? When did the requirement come in exactly. Bet you don't know

Hello Alex. is this VW Tiguan 2007-2016 2.0 TDI car need to change power steering fluids??? from the manual book it say need to change Hydraulic Fluid how?? Please make a video on it. Thank you
Hi there. From what I heard they never really do change powersteering fluid. But I will have a look for you. Was going yo do the gearbox oil change soon
5W30 for countries that are not too cold is enough. If the country where you live always or almost always falls below -7º you can put the 0W-30 it is much finer and to start the engine it does not suffer so much
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne During the video you say that you are going to put all the torque values at the end, but it isn't. It's going to be the first review I'm going to do to my Tiguan and I don't want to spoil anything.

Thank you very much 😀 It doesnt make much difference its just for the emission control. I recommend using a diesel system treatment every now and then and giving a car a good drive at least once a month on a motorway to clean the dpf. Needs to get nice and hot for at least 30 min

Hi there. I would start first with looking at pedal itself and floor matt. Sometimes they can get under it. If thats all good then check your brake fluid level please. That might be your release bearing mechanism starting to go. What is the mileage?
Ok thats good. Now you need to keep your eye on the level... there is only few things that can cause brake fluid to drop level. First and not stressful one is your brake pads wearing thin as piston has to come out more to brake it will use more fluid.... so I suggest checking your brake pads thickness just to be safe. Apart from that it can indicate a slight leak in the system... that can be either brake system or clutch system. So just keep your eye on the level for now and let me know how you getting on. Also if you can check under the vehicle for any signs of brake fluid leak or etc coming out maybe from the area where gearbox joints the engine.
