In this episode of Better Know a Letter, Will breaks down the W - a high-scoring letter with some intriguing 'hidden' attributes. Where does the W stack up compared to the rest of the alphabet?

This is quality Scrabble content, thank you Will. The point about the high probability for strong counter plays due to hooks - as well as how to counter that threat - is excellent, and the seemingly small details like color coding to distinguish between CSW and NWL hooks are much appreciated as well. Plus, while Scrabble is admittedly a math game, it’s a love of words that drew many of us to the game initially, and including definitions in the vid as you did for the short WU words was nice as well.
I think there’s something here for Scrabblers of all levels and look forward to watching more videos. Thanks to NASPA for linking to this in their newsletter.

Will, thanks for keeping posting these videos! I’m trying to improve my game to competition level and they’re incredibly helpful. Could you post one on the blank tile? I get caught in situations where I can play a bingo with the blank tile but it doesn’t hit a bonus square but will still score me much more points than not using it. I also get caught in situations where I can play a bingo that will hit a bonus square but exposes me to a potentially high scoring counter-play from my opponent. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated!
Christian, really appreciate the kind words. The blank is going to be a really interesting episode because it’s unquestionably the best tile in Scrabble, but also potentially the most difficult for newer player to use for the reasons you laid out. I confess I was going to wait to finish the other letters before doing a bonus episode on the blank but maybe I need to move it up!

I do play other word games from time to time - I haven’t heard of Word Blitz. Is it an app?
Best SCRABBLE player ever!
In the Welsh language, W and C are bros in some Welsh words (Ex: "Cwilt" which means "Quilt" in English)
Also, earlier, C and W used to be bros in words like Cwen (which means Queen in Old English)
