True as IQ only measures your knowledge and some pattern recognition skills mostly but according to multiple intelligence theory there are at least 7 different types of intelligence a person can belong to. It's like asking who is smarter a person who can do maths well or a person who is good at many different languages. We can't exactly compare them both can we?
Well no IQ tests don’t measure intelligence, they measure speed and accuracy of absorbing information. People with high IQ learn faster, but many factors go into overall “intelligence.”

SOMEONE SAID IT. I WAS THINKING THAT THE ENTIRE TIME. LIKE "this is the metapod battle and nobody is saying anything tHESE FREAKS AREN'T SAYING ANYTHING"
Check my math here if you will, but I think I’ve got the odds of Ant metronome-rolling 3 Vice Grips in one battle. According to Bulbapedia, there are 354 moves available as of Gen III. Therefore, the probability of scoring one vice grip is 1/345. To calculate for all three, we must do (1/354)^3, which comes out at about *0.00000002254188.* Converting that into a probability percentage makes it 0.000002254188% odds, which is INSANELY low. To compare, the probability of encountering a shiny Pokémon as of Gen III was 0.00012207, or 0.012207%. Doing some simple math (shiny/3x vice-metro), that means you could encounter about *5415 FULL ODDS SHINY POKÉMON* before landing 3x vice grip with metronome. Once again, I might have made a mistake here, so feel free to check me. But holy moly, bro.
I wrote a comment about this separately, but I'm gonna paste it here just to cross-reference your math. Ok guys, I'm bored so here is the chance that you'd get Vise Grip 3 moves out of 4: Metronome, in Gen III, can select from a move pool of 354, except for the fact that Metronome cannot select itself or one of these 17 moves: Counter, Covet, Destiny Bond, Detect, Endure, Focus Punch, Follow Me, Helping Hand, Mimic, Mirror Coat, Protect, Sketch, Sleep Talk, Snatch, Struggle, Thief, and Trick. Thus, the total move pool is 354-17-1=336. The chance you'd get Vise Grip once is 1/336. Thus, the chance of getting Vise Grip 3 times out of 3 is (1/336)^3. However, we're doing 3 times out of 4, meaning a fourth move of any kind can go in between. For example, it could go Vise Grip, Disable, Vise Grip, Vise Grip, or it could go Disable, Vise Grip, Vise Grip, Vise Grip, etc. In total, there are 4 places it could go (at the start, at the end, or in the 2 spaces in between Vise Grips), meaning the chance is 4*(1/336)^3 (we are including Vise Grip as a possibility for the fourth move, but that barely affects the calculation so I'm keeping it in), which equals: 0.00001054%. For reference: 0.00012207031% are the odds to get a shiny pokemon (about 11.6x more likely than getting Vise Grip 3 times out of 4). So basically, Ant got incredibly lucky (or... well not that lucky since Vise Grip isn't that good of a move, but still)
I like to imagine that the character has, in fact, caught 'em all. But doesn't trust the PC so he carries all the pokemon on him in unlabeled pokeballs. Then when someone challenges him it's just like "Ah shit. Uuuuuh this one, these ones here, and let's go with these."

The inventor of IQ actually said himself that it's not a good measure on its own for determining how intelligent someone actually is.
Isn’t it like “Intelligence Quotient” not like overall intelligence? Something like your ability to absorb information
The worst part is Imma trust that you’re right and not fact check you
And who is the inventor of IQ? Of course its not the only measure or predictor of performance but its the best predictor by itself.

Damn... That's pretty SICK
I read in another comment that said that metronome isn't out of all of the moves possible because it selects move pool before the battle starts
I wrote a comment about this separately, but I'm gonna paste it here just to cross-reference your math.
Ok guys, I'm bored so here is the chance that you'd get Vise Grip 3 moves out of 4:
Metronome, in Gen III, can select from a move pool of 354, except for the fact that Metronome cannot select itself or one of these 17 moves: Counter, Covet, Destiny Bond, Detect, Endure, Focus Punch, Follow Me, Helping Hand, Mimic, Mirror Coat, Protect, Sketch, Sleep Talk, Snatch, Struggle, Thief, and Trick.
So basically, Ant got incredibly lucky (or... well not that lucky since Vise Grip isn't that good of a move, but still)
Honestly, just pull out your TI-86 or whatever you have and do a binompdf(
Easy way to calculate the probability of 3/4 being vice grip
I cracked up when his struggle didn’t work
I think that vicegrip phenomenon can be explained by emerald’s broken rng
