    Taking it the 7th, I've practiced for a while, yet now since the date is getting close, I'm getting pretty spooked.
    Also Barron has the 5 up 5 down rule, see the line prompt as a focus, you still need your peripheral vision to understand the context of what you are looking at(reading).

      Ediane Voltaire i wouldnt recommend the barrons much but it does shine here and there but the overall book isnt as helpful, ive also heard that much of the math section was copied from the previous edition (old sat).

    My teachers are telling my class that the SATs is an end of the year test and I wish they explain that there are earlier dates for people who don't look into it as much as me. Some people, like me, would like to take it early to have more time to prep and try again if tests are not high enough. This girl, aka me, has AP, driver's school, college tours, and finals to worry about at the end of the year. Anyways, thanks for all your helpful information! I know I sounded really random :/

      What I do is skip to passages focusing on a subject I know I will do well on (i.e. comprehend more easily). Afterward, I go to questions with line numbers where I read (usually) 5 lines above and, if needed, 5 lines below where it tells me to read. Once I finish reading those line numbers, I keep in mind what those 10 lines mean and choose the answer that best fits my answer. Next, I go to questions where you need to provide evidence to a previous answer choice. After doing that process over and over again, I go to questions asking about the main reason why the passage exists (what is the author's purpose) or similar type of questions; since I read through most of the passage, I can now answer that one single general question about the passage. Repeat the process again but this time for your least stronger subject of the one you know very well. That is my strategy for doing Section I of the SAT.

    • @rabbikalala408
      @rabbikalala408 5 лет назад +13

      This is very true. I followed the same procedure and it took me a long time to get done with the 1st passage. When i reach my 2nd passage, I had only 20 minutes left. So I just started bubbling random answers 🤷🏽‍♀️. Their must be a shorter way to do the reading, because this is time consuming especially for people like me who have a hard time understanding what’s going on in the passage.

    My biggest problem is with test makers and the context. They make it so unnecessarily difficult for most students (even the brightest ones) to understand. Like I’m pretty sure I could analyze the text if Mr and Mrs so-and-so hadn’t channeled their inner Shakespeare. I can do well on most of it but sometimes I sit back and think...... “are they forreal” 😂

    Brooke please if you see this, leave a comment below giving me your suggestion cause I'm in a really tough situation. I'm a foreign student and even though English is not my mother language, I still manage to understand it efficiently, but maths is my worst. I've been good at maths until middle school, but in high school I was and still am AWFUL., I've never succeeded passing any of my math exams the last 4 years and I've even forgotten the lessons I took when I was in middle school. If you have any advice please help me, I'm really trying to reach a propriet level on maths, but I have to start from 0 and I want to conquer on May.

      Btw I stopped the video to read the passages and answer the questions. It made me really happy that I gave the right answer for both of them 😊

      Melissa Toska Honestly speaking , Khan academy is gonna eat up a lot of your time since its all practice and the course material does not focus on explaining concepts in a systematic and orderly manner . What I would suggest , is that you buy a book that explains each and every math concept included in the SAT thoroughly and then gives you questions to practice at the back . Stay away from the big 3 - Kaplan , Princeton and Barron's . They make books which are tailored towards the needs of average students or those who don't want to put in the effort .

      |TREE| thanks for the advice, I have bought the SAT college board book plus another book explaining basic maths. I've tried Khan academy and what you said is true, they focus more on the solution and the practice of a problem rather than explaining it thoroughly

      Melissa Toska Yeah . I guess that platform was originally created for american students who are familiar with all the concepts but are just looking for revision via practicing questions . Doesn't suit the needs for us international students .
