Eddie… though complex this is not complicated. Due to the alternating guitar banjo parts it magically becomes a play along lesson that when approached slowly can work for a beginner such as me. To learn a song I physically write out the tab first on paper. This action creates a visual sound image in my mind then I play that measure in full to some level of proficiency. The alternating guitar then banjo parts gives me time to be mentally ready to play when it’s my turn. Due to my left handed/severely dyslexic mind set I need to assemble all information in mental/visual building blocks in a logical order. The Dueling Banjos tune provides that for me. Many thanks for your continuing contribution to my musical journey.
That's a good technique. The process of writing something out for oneself (even when the tab is provided) helps all learners better "picture" what they are trying to do and is a very good learning tool.
Great playing sir. Banjo is a minor instrument in Japan. The banjo is my favorite instrument, so I am learning by imitating your playing. Thank you so much everyday!!
This is really one of the best tutorials i have seen. I am a absolut beginner and my english isnt the best. Pleasent voice and speed. Really really good. I have to practice a lot :)
Great fun Eddie. Most folks find another room to hang out when I show up with the banjo, let alone make a request! All joking aside great tutorial on a great tune.
I've known somewhat how to play some of this for a long time, thanks to you I can now play the whole song on guitar.. I need more practice though, would LOVE for you to make a "Play Along" version with your Banjo for practicing! That would be so great!
@@EddieCollinsMusic Thanks, I will play along with it, practice some! I have been teaching my 7 year old daughter and 10 year old son Dueling Banjos on Mandolin with the help of your videos. They're doing so great! Thank you for the videos.
Hi Eddie, I am brand new at the banjo, actually it's a 4 string Irish Tenor Banjo, however, I know my way around the guitar so I'm hoping that gives me some small edge. I just purchased this thing for $150.00 and I was told it's from the 1960's. It's called a Beltone banjo.
Goal. Yesterday was my first experience producing a song that sounded like a song instead of a jumble of notes. Baby steps. And fun. I’m almost ready to buy the t-shirt.
Played slow, it's a song of its own. And a damn good one.
I never thought that I could get ever get past the G and C chord opening strums. This is such a good tutorial. Many thanks.
Just bought a banjo. This video enabled me to quickly play something. Still have to practice the simpler roll. Anyway thanks.

Maybe bring the banjo in a guitar case...but then you'd have to play Freebird on the Banjo!

Great to have milestones in your progress, thanks for sharing!
As someone that plays Clawhammer with no picks, can i still do this maybe using a 2 finger thumb lead type of playing instead?
You can read the tab the same, then choose a right hand pattern that you can combine with the chords during the "fast" part.
Merci pour la vidéo mai au auriez la tablatures complète svp
Rachid, please email your request to eddiecollinsmusic@yahoo.com and I will send you the tab.
