  • World's most anticipated airline in 2020s has to be STARLUX, a new luxury oriented airline that is based in Taipei. I tried its most prestigious route to Los Angeles, and so far, its only long haul flight. I was blown away by its insane attention to detail, but that made me realize this was a big problem.

    As I have been told, apparently the whiskey they carry onboard is one of the best in the world, a Kavalan that is made in Taiwan. So that is even more of a reason to give it a high score! They also serve the whiskey on the rock, which is a large crystal clear chunk of ice made especially for this purpose.

    I'm very excited about Starlux!
    I love their story.
    The leadership is inspiring.
    I flew with them April and May of 2023. And I was always smiling.
    I will fly with them on every opportunity because of how they make feel.

      I am so glad you like them! But I am not so sure if they can be as big as the middle eastern big boys. Those airlines benefit from their hubs being in the "center of the world", allowing 1 stop options between most destinations in the world. However, Taipei is not a place for that, and there are 2 already fully established competitors, so it will be mostly an uphill battle.

      You are correct and if you look at East Asia they're being squished by there are two competitors in an airline alliance BR (長榮航空) Star Alliance and CI (中華航空🇹🇼) Skyteam Alliance. To the North the South Koreans KE/OZ🇰🇷 and the Japanese JL NH🇯🇵 across the Taiwan Strait Hong Kong CX🇭🇰 Mainland China MU (中國東方航空) MF FM CA ZH🇨🇳. To the southwest of them you have the Malaysian MH🇲🇾 singaporeans SQ🇸🇬 Thai🇹🇭 and Filipinos PR🇵🇭. If you compare this one to Philippine Airlines Taiwanese and Hong Konger spelling (菲律賓航空) which was actually the first airline in that part of the world the Taiwanese Airline Starlux beats Philippine Airlines. Unless you are a fan of its competitors direct service to Manila without stopping in Taipei.

    Here's the Oddity about the airline it's actually founded by the founder of Eva Air the Taiwanese 5 star Skytrax rated Star Alliance members. Which is why it has great service like it's competitor Eva Air. They need an Airline alliance to get expanded lounge access besides their own the competitor Eva Air gets access to United Airlines Air Canada lounges Star Alliance China Airlines gets Delta Skyclub Skyteam Alliance some of them are the former NW WorldClubs.

    • @beyounged
      @beyounged  8 месяцев назад +2

      Starlux will only get Oneworld, but the problem is that Cathay Pacific is super territorial, so it may be a bit difficult to get it approved into the alliance proper. Maybe they can be a Oneworld connect member, which is not that useful to most people though.

    Is this going to be enough time? I'm stressing a little hard haha

    • @beyounged
      @beyounged  6 месяцев назад +1

      if it is all on 1 ticket, it is no problem at all. you can transit through directly after immigration. Worst case scenario, the airline is legally required to put you on the next flight if you missed your connection. If it is on 2 separate tickets, make sure you check in online for Sydney to Melbourne beforehand and double check if you need to switch terminals, which adds a lot of time in Sydney.

    • @beyounged

      not surprised at all. They are way too different to be merging. Frontier should have merged with Spirit. both will remain in business, maybe with other acquisitions and major changes.
