There are a lot of folks out here who focus on holistic habitat improvements and will not compromise on that out of fear that it might inhibit deer hunting success. I think this is a great addition to your lineup and already have two places in mind where I want to try it.
Let’s see a video on how you’d make a bedding area with this and switch and a drill. How would we instruct Brandon to design it and plant it effectively with a tractor. Outer square edge in switch. Then waved lines of each ??
Sounds like a great blend. I will give it a try. As far as trouble with the size of one seed to the others. I would suggest the biggest seed in a separate bag having two bags within the package for using in a seed spreader.
Follow up! I got my 1 bag of Forbes and forage in the ground. I lined a couple of switch grass pockets and then made a U shape of about 1/5 acre around a hinge cut area on a section of my wood edge. Excited to see how it goes.
This channel is a wealth of great info for those of us who are new to the habitat development arena. I really like your presentation style and detailed coverage of the topics. Your products are part of my habitat plan already and I'll be adding more as the budget allows. One suggestion for connecting the details in these videos with the products would be to include a link to here from there. That way if someone finds your products but is not familiar with this channel, they will have a way to tap into this valuable resource. Keep the awesome content coming!
Sunday my grandson and I got 660'×100' tilled along Westside of one woods in bean stubble for screening with 15ft wide of switch on outside and 15ft wide of your HDscreen on the woods side of that. Got switch frost seeded can't wait til June to get your HD seeded. Every 100' we put a 15' strip across to the woods edge to give us approx 6 pockets 70'×85' to experiment with for this falls plantings. Going to try to maintain weed free in pockets through summer. The screening is what we really need the most, but you know we're going to fill all those in-between pockets with some of your awsome deer salad bar goodies!
John they have to feed in the bedding area at least once maybe twice! Sounds like a great idea for doe bedding for sure. It should be great for helping control doe bedding in close proximity to your staging plots or hunting plots on the way to destination plots on small properties. Great idea!
State College Pennsylvania here , spoke with you yesterday about RC Bigrock Switch grass, and ordered 5 pounds to try out . I'll be sure to get some of your new blend as well moving forward. New to your Chanel. Really appreciate 🙏 your knowledge base. Kind regards...
This is awesome! I’m converting 2.5 acres of ag in central WI to a woody vegetation. Pockets of shrubs, pockets of aspen, and pockets of spruce. Would this be a good mix to add into the entire 2.5 acres as the trees establish?
I have hybrid poplar regrowth that I'm cutting pockets out for bedding, this looks like a great option. Do I need to work up the ground, spray herbicide to get bare soil, or can I frost seed this on what's there?
Sure a test and proper soil amenities will help. The are mostly perennial legumes so a low nitrogen fertilizer may help as well. Yes it will grow in southern climates.
Any updates on this product? Will it be available again next year? How did it grow? Etc….

Thanks Jason
This is going to be a great mix to really jump start our bedding areas! Can't wait to try it!
Anxious to see you results!!

I think multiple designs are possible. Buy outer walls of switchgrass is a good start
Are those different size seeds no till drill friendly ?
@@nicschaalma3508I would have to have Brandin look at them and determine that.
Thanks for the video and information. I could not see when you said to plant this, fall I am thinking.
Spring early summer planting similar to the Pollinator Blend

We will try it this year, but that may be an option down the road.
Thanks for the feedback!!
@@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663 off topic how many pounds of rc big truck do you recommend per acre for making bedding?
@@paulsipe8481screen around the bedding area will be thicker and heavier like 8-10 pounds per acre
Inside with the pockets maybe 6-7
Great idea. I want food in my bedding area. Get the deer to waste as much time on your ground as possible.
I think the right type of food (forbs and woody browse) is a good thing.

Is that a perennial or annual blend?
Perennial

Looking forward to trying this blend John.
Thanks for the input Randy
What's in it? I can better predict my results if I know what's in it.

I think we are going to scratch up the ground with a rake , seed and lightly cover.
Thanks for the vid
Small Burnett?? Chicory? Is that the seeds
John, will this blend require a soil test and amendments? Also, will this blend do well in the Southern U.S.?

Yes it will grow in southern climates.
2750 not 2175 lol
Some day I’ll get it right lol
