Just wanted to say thanks for all your help with the books and videos which turned my 17 acres into a spot my daughter and I can knowingly fill are tags on opening weekend of bow and firearms seasons.

Really enjoy theses video's , most of my hunts on public land so i try apply all as if I'm on private land as you always say diversity and habitat is the key i have been hunting deer since i was 14 years old watching you all videos make me realize i have some what hunt this way from the start

Great idea with the fence! I feel like I'm in the exact situation.

Just what I have been looking for. Have some pine plantation that I will be converting. Now a planting video would be awesome.

I like the mention to keep some cedar. There is a big push to remove cedar on other channels and I understand, but I also like to keep some. I am intentionally allowing them to grow up on areas of my place.

Very bad idea to remove large sections of red cedar in favor of planting hardwoods for future timber production. That's more from the schooled forestry approach...not a high quality hunting or wildlife habitat strategy based on wildlife habitat experience. Unfortunately...
Great move to keep a few for sure!

My pasture is overgrown w honeysuckle and autumn olive. Surrounded by east sloping semi dense woods. 50 acres total.. Is some clearing in order?

Thoughts on removing golden rod and slender false brome in any area with the best sunlight for the purpose of inputting a 1/4ac food plot? Owner doesn’t want to cut or hinge cut trees to open other areas from canopy cover. This spot is the best spot for food plot. Just would like your thoughts.

Great question! You just have to follow the steps in my low cost budget friendly food plot video (today's video), with the first spraying being the most critical.

Hey Jeff, I have a chunk of ground in Mi that is so thick the deer wont travel through it - should I remove the brush or maybe cut trails for them to travel on?

Similar situation but a switchgrass questions: after spring green up and using herbicides for weed control, can I disc up so that ground so that there is open soil and broadcast my switchgrass into that open soil in let’s say early June?

Just curious, I'm planting pockets of hybrid willow in an opening. I have 300' of fence to use, would you think it would be better for 1- 300 foot circle, or 3- 100' circles. This video just made me curious. The 300' circle was my plan prior to seeing this video. I have the same plan as you, moving the cage after large enough to handle deer pressure and starting again.

Trying creating 3 pockets using the 300' roll of fencing. This will create more diversity pockets and a 100' circle of browse will plenty big to hold deer!

    • @MrRABland

@@kurtpearson2793 Thanks, that's the plan. I've got plots scheduled on the periphery of the property away from the west and south public land with a lake bordering the east and a gravel road north. This way I draw deer from the public and bed them on my property. I'm connecting the plots with a travel corridor and cutting bedding on the interior that's a sanctuary. If the four feet of snow we have would melt I could get to work 💪👍😤

A little off topic, but when do you get your water holes going prior to season? Or do you keep them active all year?

We use 6' fencing to keep deer out. We have used 4' fencing in the past but deer were able to reach in a nibble the branches that were close to the fence.
