@@diablocls55 Series X is a pretty awesome thing to have because of the backwards compatability all the way back to the first xbox, and resolution/performance improvements on 360 games. I still really enjoy my PS5 but Xbox has come back around to being a good buy.

Had tons of 360 games laying around that I was itching to play again after several years. Original Xbox games too. And the best part is all I have to do is pop in the disc, download an update and I’m ready to play. No such feature exists on PS5 for PS3 & PS2 games except for some you can DOWNLOAD with or without a SUBSCRIPTION. Game pass also sealed it for me.
At one point in time in the early and mid 2000s, Halo was a bonafide pop cultural phenomenon. It was in a prime spot to become a multimedia franchise to rival Star Wars, getting its own books, comics, TV series, and whatnot. For a brief time, Halo was tied with Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty, if not ahead of them. So for a nostalgic Microsoft desperate to reclaim the glory years, I can imagine it was more than a game to them. But alas, titans fall and you can't change destiny.

Personally I like the Wii U over the Xbox One because it is very cheep and has a huge library of original, big budget exclusives. emphasis on "original" because shooting at bad guys in a mech suit has been done many times before. And I like the Play Station Four over the Xbox One because it's cheaper, has Little big Planet and the hope there will be a Mod Nation Racers Two. I will say the Xbox One itself has slightly better quality hardware, operating system and server but that is to be expected with a larger price. But video game wise, it is the worst choice and it may seem crazy but the main thing I care about with my video game console are the games, that's why The Xbox One is my last choice in the eighth generation of video game consoles. It was games like Uncharted 4, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Spider Man, The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Until Dawn, Detroit Become Human that sold the PS4 (Microsoft shooting itself in the nuts with things like always online DRM, no backward combability and no good exclusive games also helped but still…). I`m not saying to go full Nintendo and sell potato chip hardware hoping and praying it can somehow run a neutered version of games based on your nostalgia bait IPs but maybe stop and think "what exactly are people buying your console to play?" cuz Spider Man and Horizon 1.1 aren`t exactly earth shattering.
To be fair on Nintendo, the Switch runs on a mobile chipset that was just a couple of years old at the time of release. A long time by mobile standards but it wasn't terribly outdated in that regard.

Who did less and got away with it? People seem to forget the PS3 was also the best Blu Ray player on the market at the time, played SACDs and DVD-audio discs, memory cards and USB, and was the first to output 1080p, and has a TOSLINK for audio. It also had an entire PS2 built right into it. But people complained about all that so they stripped it all out to bring the price down while working on the slim.
If i want to watch TV i use my Swisscom TV box or my Apple TV 4K For games i have my Xbox series S and my Gaming PC But i agree the original xbox one reveal sucks
11 Years later and they haven't changed much in terms of DRM policies. Instead of learning from the mistake they made in 2013, they simply decided to stay quiet and reinstate the DRM. The Series X had so much potential too... Sad they ultimately decided to only focus on GamePass and not exclusive quality.

And you're telling me those industry "innovations" are a good thing? Paid online multiplayer, live services, creatively exhausted 2000s IPs, on-disc DRM not to mention discs only containing an installer, controllers still using double A batteries, propietary hard drives and now SSDs. The list goes on. Most if not all of these black marks were pioneered or endorsed by Microsoft at one point and another, now both Nintendo and Sony followed those tactics not for necessity, but because of greed. They were _given_ the ideas. They only started doing these things themselves only after the fact. Microsoft did nothing but ruin the gaming industry since conception, they had good games at the start sure, but buying yourself into market share can only take you so far. And thus far they have not learned their lesson, Activision will either not change at all or their games will vanish from the gaming sphere much like what happened to Rareware back in the Xbox days.
Their downfall wasn't any of the typical hater montage thrown into this vid. It was making people have to pay fees for used games, and the biggest issue, having to always be connected to the internet for it to work, what a garbage idea. Immediately would've cut off thousands who don't have internet access, and everyone else including me that doesn't want a £500 plastic box whenever there's no internet. Other than that ps4 and this are no different when delved into, other than teraflops with gpu, so I got a pc.

and they’re all wrong, that’s exactly what they are. imo companies be trying way too hard to equate the rest of the entertainment industry with gaming. if i wanted to watch a movie i’d go to the theater or boot up my laptop, if i wanted to watch a show i’d hop on my amazon fire stick. but companies want the experience of gaming to take a backseat over entertainment in general (which does include gaming, but it’s not the focus of making the console for them). serious gamers see through this bullshit of course, which is why i’d like to think most people use a nintendo switch or steam deck over the current ps5 or xbox series - they’re purely games machines with little to no fluff built in from the get-go

The funny part is that rocket science is not particularly impressive in and of itself. The basic technology's literally over a thousand years old, in fact. Suits never fail to showcase how out of touch they can be. Sony pushing for PS5 Pro when nobody even cares for PS5 is as artistic as you can get. Somebody should hammer it into their heads that it`s games that sell consoles, not the other way around. It was games like Uncharted 4, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, Spider Man, The Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Until Dawn, Detroit Become Human that sold the PS4 (Microsoft shooting itself in the nuts with things like always online DRM, no backward combability and no good exclusive games also helped but still…). I`m not saying to go full Nintendo and sell potato chip hardware hoping and praying it can somehow run a neutered version of games based on your nostalgia bait IPs but maybe stop and think "what exactly are people buying your console to play?" cuz Spider Man and Horizon 1.1 aren`t exactly earth shattering.
To be fair on Nintendo, the Switch runs on a mobile chipset that was just a couple of years old at the time of release. A long time by mobile standards but it wasn't terribly outdated in that regard.

Who did less and got away with it? People seem to forget the PS3 was also the best Blu Ray player on the market at the time, played SACDs and DVD-audio discs, memory cards and USB, and was the first to output 1080p, and has a TOSLINK for audio. It also had an entire PS2 built right into it. But people complained about all that so they stripped it all out to bring the price down while working on the slim.
Damn a lot has changed Xbox has gotten soooo much better thanks to Phil Spencer and the rest of the team :D

11 Years later and they haven't changed much in terms of DRM policies. Instead of learning from the mistake they made in 2013, they simply decided to stay quiet and reinstate the DRM. The Series X had so much potential too... Sad they ultimately decided to only focus on GamePass and not exclusive quality.

you know what I always loved about these E3 deals, not one of those guys or girls could even know how to play the games, they are just suits who walk up there and try to sell you something. lol Then when they make the company look bad ie all of them, then they get "resigned" lol left and right.

Sony was planning the same thing til they saw fan reactions. Now Sony is hurtin with not making money on them exclusives and consoles basically require online to play most games.
And you're telling me those industry "innovations" are a good thing? Paid online multiplayer, live services, creatively exhausted 2000s IPs, on-disc DRM not to mention discs only containing an installer, controllers still using double A batteries, propietary hard drives and now SSDs. The list goes on.
Most if not all of these black marks were pioneered or endorsed by Microsoft at one point and another, now both Nintendo and Sony followed those tactics not for necessity, but because of greed. They were _given_ the ideas. They only started doing these things themselves only after the fact.
Microsoft did nothing but ruin the gaming industry since conception, they had good games at the start sure, but buying yourself into market share can only take you so far. And thus far they have not learned their lesson, Activision will either not change at all or their games will vanish from the gaming sphere much like what happened to Rareware back in the Xbox days.
Their downfall wasn't any of the typical hater montage thrown into this vid. It was making people have to pay fees for used games, and the biggest issue, having to always be connected to the internet for it to work, what a garbage idea. Immediately would've cut off thousands who don't have internet access, and everyone else including me that doesn't want a £500 plastic box whenever there's no internet. Other than that ps4 and this are no different when delved into, other than teraflops with gpu, so I got a pc.
The trailer for it was absolute garbage, along with the people who explained the xbox and it’s features, but i have the one X, and it’s a great console, honestly the xbox and ps4 and great systems in general, but fucking microsoft fucked up badly on launch for the OG xbox
