But it didn't break the skin or even cause any bruising. Um. Yeah. Wow. Super powerful. This was easily the worst film in the MCU for a very long time. It held on to that title until at least 2019 when Captain Marvel hit theaters. Pretty much all critics agreed. Were they all too dumb to understand it? Maybe you didn't understand it? Nah... must be that everyone else was wrong...

Hi Steph. Great reaction! Remember that these movies are early on. Nobody knows about Thanos or the infinity stones yet except comic readers. Even they are not sure how those comics will translate to film or how much marvel will stick to them. So each movie is building out the universe and dropping hints of what's to come, but also focusing on one corner of the marvel universe and introducing us to more characters or teaching us more about the ones we've met. So far as why the avengers haven't arrived to save the day - they are not just waiting around for things to happen. They have only worked together once at this stage and even later on when they are actively intervening, lots and lots of things are happening all at the same time. These films show us some of the things that are happening and some of them make it more obvious when they are taking place in the timeline as well. Love to see you going back through these movies as well. I'm a huge Loki fan too so i'm hoping you one day react to his show. Cheers.
Spiderman and some other Marvel superheroes got started in 1963. So did I. So I grew up reading these comics. By the mid 70s the story lines were intense and dramatic. I say this to highlight how good a job the MCU has done to amalgamate all the stories and histories of these characters from the last 60 years into movies that current audiences can follow and even form attachments to. For those who say that this movie or that movie is the worst or least one, I'd say that you've got to remember that they are all a part of a much bigger picture.
I’ve loved this movie since it came out. Is it the best? Absolutely not, but given the recent MCU, it’s made appreciate this movie so much more. Loki is top 5 characters in the MCU.
I never thought The Dark World was the worst Marvel movie out there. I just think that they tried cramming a lot of exposition into a very limited amount of time, giving the movie kind of an unorganized, rushed feel to it. Pretty much, it could have been better produced, but as far as storyline goes, definitely not the worst of the Marvel films.
Svartalfheim: Svart = Black or Dark, Alf = Elf, Heim = Home It's Nordic influenced like Thor in general is supposed to be. The name is directly from Nordic 13th century mythology.
55:00 - How quickly do you think the Avengers move? The whole climax took maybe an hour. It's not like they're all sitting around in a ready room waiting for a batsignal or something.
Especially because these films take place in the time they were released. So thor was dealing with this whilst iron man was dealing with anxiety and cap was dealing with whatever happens in the next film. Its all basically simultaneous
Tony Stark is probably still recovering from open-heart surgery. And none of the Avengers (other than Thor) have any experience with "mystical, mythological" threats like this.
When you have non-crossover movies, unlike The Avengers, and they're focused on an individual hero, just assume that the story is this specific hero's story and try not to think/plug in how you think this might possibly connect to the greater MCU. (Mainly 'cause you'd never guess what's going to connect and what won't or maybe will much further down the line) Individual movies are like comic book where they show what trials and tribulations a particular hero has to go through. Crossovers are special events where they need to come together because no one hero can handle it. When we, who read comic books, read a Thor comic (for instance) and it looks like the villain is so powerful, we don't think "Where's Iron Man? Where's The Hulk?" We think, "Aw man, how's Thor gonna get outta THIS one?" We don't really expect other heroes to be waiting in the wings, because they're off dealing with their own problems, in their own comics. So, good rule of thumb is to just focus on what is happening to the characters in the current movie because it may or may not have something to do with whatever the next big crossover may be, but it will definitely be important to the individual hero later on 'cause all the experiences shape them. Look at how Tony was shaped by events from "The Avengers" or even how his whole life changed because of what happened in that cave with Yinsen in the first movie. Those are all HIS personal experiences. Best not to just brush off events in a movie because you're waiting for the next big thing. Now, if a movie, in and of itself feels lackluster, that's fair to say. Saying that it over all wasn't interesting because this or that, perfectly valid. For the longest time, this was my least favorite MCU movie because I thought the villains were not fleshed out so much and I thought we should've really felt the threat of them more.
So, Stef, you asked about the connection between this movie and the overall saga. I think it’s more a character building movie, relations between Thor, Loki, Odin and Friga and that influence on future movies. Of course, the aether will enter into the plot of future movies in the hands of the Collector. So glad you liked. On to CA, Winter Soldier. 👍🏻😊 Good intuitive foresight at 42:35 on “wanting them to think he’s dead”. And Stef, you didn’t recognize Benicio Del Toro as the Collector? Stef! Loki’s death was a projection illusion; after all he is the God of Mischief. Avengers don’t respond to every conflict or disaster. It just doesn’t serve the saga to have a team up every movie.
You will find out about the Collector two movies ahead. Of the first 3 Thor movies I'd rank this last, but I liked it better on rewatching than I did the first time. The director of this movie also directed multiple episodes of Game of Thrones including the one where Ned was executed in the first season.
Don't forget to include the Spider-man entries, last I checked they weren't on the Disney+ list, so you'll have to attain them elsewise! (they're great, so don't hesitate to buy them!)
Yep That's kinda odd and refreshing at the same time: I know both 😉 Natalie Portman and Chris have excellent social skills and chemistry(even though they are both actors) but I wouldn't be comfortable with another woman or another individual kissing my partner 😅.. "just no,just just no no ."
To be fair almost everything happen out of earth, when they came to earth the fight happen in the moment it would give time to put the avengers together, remember in avengers 1 it took like a day to put together the team
Loki: HA GOT EM I honestly love mythology and lore so Thor movies never bore me, I always appreciated the laughs in these earlier ones specifically keeping the serious parts and sprinkling in the humor. Not my favorite Avenger, but probably 2nd. Can't wait for Captain America The Winter Soldier.
stef, i think that alien ship might have appeared and the final battle only took as long as that group of scenes did for the movie, so the avengers if they did see that ship on tv, it would have taken them a couple hours to fly to england, and by that time, the movie/battle was over and the alien ship was on another planet
I do agree with the (somewhat general) perception that the relationship between Thor and Jane didn't really worked the way they expected, with the fact that the Jane character is one of, if not THE, main love interest of Thor from the comics in general... I'm one of the viewers who thinks that they should've gone full steam ahead with Thor's relationship with Lady Sif after the first movie when people said that they didn't really connect with Thor and Jane's romantic relationship (certainly after this movie it would make even more sense)... The curious part is that it has been said over the years that there was an early version of the script for this movie where the "triangle" and Sif's feelings for Thor played a little bit of a bigger role in the story... I 1000% would prefer Thor to be with Sif... It would make much more sense and can also lead to good scenarios and storytelling... The God of Thunder & The Goddess of War
In the Scandinavian myths, Thor and Sif are married and have a daughter. You mention that Malekith reminded you of the "Lord of the Rings." It actually works the other way. Tolkien drew a lot of inspiration from the myths and fairy tales from ancient, pre-Christian German and Scandinavian culture. 🙂 "Svartalf" means "dark elf," and "heim" means "land of." When a catastrophe happens in the Marvel universe, that just means it's a Tuesday. Nah. This film isn't bad. Love & Thunder is *bad* bad, but this one isn't.
Hello Stef!😊 The Elves were dormant, and the release of the Aether awakened them. The realms have actually been at peace for a while. It has only become unstable with recent events. This is probably why Asgard doesn't have much in the way of defense. When Thor was going to be crowned king in the first film, they were at peace. The Thor sequels tend to be a bit odd. I agree, the main story is not that strong. Great reactions to this Thor sequel, Stef!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is really the first film where they assume that you know a lot of background from the Thor comics. If you don't have that background knowledge it make the movie feel a lot more disjointed. I think that this is a reason that a lot of people didn't rank this one very highly. From a story perspective this one really is a lynchpin for a lot that is to come.
You may want to avoid confusing MCU movies with Marvel associated movies. Ghost Rider, The Amazing Spider-Man & other Spider-Man adjacent movies are part of Sony movies branch of Marvel, while Blade was part of New Line Cinema's branch & Mutant-stories plus the distribution of Fantastic-4 are part of the 20th Century Fox branch, then Hulk & Sub-Mariner were licensed to Paramount. This all happened because Marvel was in financial trouble at one time. They sold off a bunch of their characters for "movie rights only" to various studios. As a result the love story in The Amazing Spider-Man came from Sony not Marvel.
Other Avengers (or SHIELD) not coming to help only means they are somewhere else busy with their own missions or problems and would not even be aware of what’s happening in this movie. But simplest reason is, it wouldn’t be a Thor movie if he needed other heroes to defeat the movie’s villain. This goes for any solo Marvel hero movie. It would only be an Avengers movie if a situation needed for all of them to defeat it. 😁
The ‘weak spots’ were random. Jane tried to open them but didn’t know where it would open to. Marvel has had many artists and writers throughout their comic book history. Which means many versions of characters and stories. Marvel Studios had a specific story to tell that spanned multiple characters and comic issues. Trimming the story or changing things slightly rubs some fans the wrong way. There are movies that fall into that category. See you in the next one or the painter post.. ✌️🥰
If you've got people telling you what's going to happen, or even telling you if a movie is good or bad before you watch it, I don't think those are fans. People that truly want to see a blind reaction won't tell you anything about what's coming up, so that it doesn't get ruined. 🤷🏻♂️
People are weird when it comes to media takes. If something isn't perfect, it's terrible. Or in the case of this movie, if the villain is pretty boring and one note (if that), then the movie sucls. Apparently. I disagree. I agree Malekith isn't an interesting villain in this film, but I don't think that makes the movie bad. There are plenty of movies with uninteresting villains that are near universally loved. Like, basically any horror movie ever, because horror movies kinda suck as far as movies go (and I say that as a horror fan). I also don't think Jane and Thor have much chemistry in this film, much like with the first film, but part of that is due to directing. Chris Hemsworth was also fairly new to acting in the first film (compared to Natalie Portman, that is), and in this film Natalie grew kinda upset behind the scenes because she felt her character was underserved. She had such a terrible time working on this film that she didn't come back for the third Thor film, or any other MCU film until the fourth Thor movie, Love and Thunder. You're not there, yet, but I must say that Natalie and Chris actually have chemistry in that film. Bottom line, I think this film is massively underrated. It's easily one of the most fun films in the MCU, and that should count for something.
I personally think this film is over-hated as well. It also plays a significant role later on. And, it's at this point that things really start to connect and get REALLY good moving forward. Enjoy!
Best aspect of this movie was Thor and Loki dynamic. Loki was not once a bad guy in that movie if you think about it. Polt wise the villain was weak and the plot was not good because they wanted jane to do something and not be the mistress in distress, but that failed . because Jane is human and all the other Gods and Dark Elves.
Captain America The Winter soldier is next and i cant wait for you to see that!!!

Oh no... the bad guy has it and is capable of wielding it now? Oh shit. What's it going to do?? Oh.... it.... knocked Thor off his feet momentarily.
@@nooneofconsequence1251 wow. I said most people. Not 100 percent of the people. Your opinion differs from mine.
@@nooneofconsequence1251 bro didn't read the "most people" part
@@nooneofconsequence1251”Most people.” Nobody asked you to write all this lmao
stef, the guy at the very end, the Collector, he is very old, so is his collection, you will see more of it later , and other things and people
We all love Loki
This movie introduced you to the fluid known as The Aether is the liquid form of one of the infinity stones. It affects reality
Great reaction! 😊
This is one of those movies where the more I watch it the more I like it. Loki will always 100% be the best part of this movie.
I love Natalie Portman's Asgardian wardrobe in this movie. It gives "Star Wars Episode 2" Naboo wardrobe vibes.
RIP to Frigga, Queen of Asgard. 😭
31:40 - 33:27 The best part of the whole movie. LOL!
Loved Stef's reaction to the Loki twist reveal at the end. LOL!
Up next one of the best MCU movies "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
So glad you git back into the MCU Stef!
Yep. It will all come together for you. Thanks for helping us relive the saga. I love your attention to details. They are necessary.
Loved your reaction at the end when Loki revealed himself!
We have entered the rise of the MCU
Takes a little longer than 20 minutes to get from America to London, even for the avengers. :) but I’m sure they were on their way. Might even have been sucked up by one of those anomalies like the fighter jets were
Cheers.
A "painting" session sounds like a terrific idea to me!
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world that loves this movie.
I’ve loved this movie since it came out. Is it the best? Absolutely not, but given the recent MCU, it’s made appreciate this movie so much more. Loki is top 5 characters in the MCU.
I also love this movie and have loved it since it came out. So you’re not alone :)
1 down, 5 to go! Go Collector go! He just wants them for his Collection... right?
Svartalfheim: Svart = Black or Dark, Alf = Elf, Heim = Home
It's Nordic influenced like Thor in general is supposed to be. The name is directly from Nordic 13th century mythology.
The exposition required her to fall through space to find the Ether.
You've seen Ragnarok, you know where Odin is.
I love how Stef calls it the esthar like from final fantasy 8 haha a good ode to it 😅😊❤
55:00 - How quickly do you think the Avengers move?
Your first comment in the end credit scene reminded me of,
“What is this a P.F. Chang’s?” 🤣🤣🤣 IYKYK
The Aether demon "Kurse" is so badass, able to deviate Mjolnir in flight!
Agreed, the music in this one is fantastic. ^___^
You are going to love the rest of the THOR movies Ragnarok was especially amazing. You are amazing keep up the great work
One cool thing about Chris is that he only kisses his wife. That was her he kissed in this movie.
Stef-48:27 "You've got to be shitting my pants!"
Us-"Yes. we are shitting your pants." LMAO
Don't forget to include the Spider-man entries, last I checked they weren't on the Disney+ list, so you'll have to attain them elsewise! (they're great, so don't hesitate to buy them!)
Loki is the best. The Real GOAT 🤍💚
Your intro music is always a welcome sound!
The music from the first two Thor films are excellent imo
50:14 fun fact, the one kissing Chris is actually his wife Elsa and not Natalie Portman since she wasn't able to make to the reshoots
Yep
That's kinda odd and refreshing at the same time: I know both 😉 Natalie Portman and Chris have excellent social skills and chemistry(even though they are both actors) but I wouldn't be comfortable with another woman or another individual kissing my partner 😅.. "just no,just just no no ."
To be fair almost everything happen out of earth, when they came to earth the fight happen in the moment it would give time to put the avengers together, remember in avengers 1 it took like a day to put together the team
Loki: HA GOT EM
I honestly love mythology and lore so Thor movies never bore me, I always appreciated the laughs in these earlier ones specifically keeping the serious parts and sprinkling in the humor. Not my favorite Avenger, but probably 2nd.
Can't wait for Captain America The Winter Soldier.
Love loki ❤❤❤❤
stef, i think that alien ship might have appeared and the final battle only took as long as that group of scenes did for the movie, so the avengers if they did see that ship on tv, it would have taken them a couple hours to fly to england, and by that time, the movie/battle was over and the alien ship was on another planet
The God of Thunder & The Goddess of War
stef , when this was in the movie theaters, lots of people went to this as a date movie
35:50 The Aether is one of the Infinity Stones, so yeah this is definitely advancing the MCU's big picture plotline if thats what you want to call it
In the Scandinavian myths, Thor and Sif are married and have a daughter.
You mention that Malekith reminded you of the "Lord of the Rings."
It actually works the other way.
Tolkien drew a lot of inspiration from the myths and fairy tales from ancient, pre-Christian German and Scandinavian culture. 🙂
"Svartalf" means "dark elf," and "heim" means "land of."
When a catastrophe happens in the Marvel universe, that just means it's a Tuesday.
Sif and Thor are lovers in the comics.
stef there is also Howard the Duck (1986) that definitely has a love story in it
Loved your reaction to the end 😂
Hello 👋 Miss Stef !!! As always the like button 🔳 has been Illuminated 😊
The battle in London happened pretty fast. They might not of had time to get there. Also the same thing can be said of Ironman 3.
Let's 'dive' more into this 'Thor thing'.....
I've already seen this film, but with such a beautiful woman reacting I couldn't resist watching it again....🥰😘😘🇧🇷
I love watching your reaction 😍♥️ The next part of Thor is the best of all😉🔥
You're in for an incredible ride with the next movie.
Always love your reactions Stef!
This movie was ok love the Stef stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way can’t wait to see you react to Captain America, the Winter soldier.
Awesome reaction video like always! More please 🙏 it’s the reality stone
stef, i like this movie because it's a mix of swords and sorcery and sci fi, like that movie called star wars
Great reaction again
You make a good point. It is crazy how all this crap is happening like in New York. And.... where are the other Avengers? Liiiiike...... >______>
Loki is a master of illusions, feigning his injury and death wouldn't have been difficult for him
If you've got people telling you what's going to happen, or even telling you if a movie is good or bad before you watch it, I don't think those are fans.
Next Captain American The Winter Soldier. Oh yeah, she gonna be love that 🎯
I personally think this film is over-hated as well.
Jane had no way of tracking anyone.
stef, there is a movie called Fantastic Four (2005) that has a love story in it too
Awesome reaction of my favorite Marvel movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
