The start of the movie hit me hard because i lost my mum to breast cancer years before watching the film. every time i watch the film i have to fast forward it past that part. I went to see the film at the cinema with my friends and when that seen happened i had a bad panic attack.
I'm in a similar boat I think. I used to enjoy emotionally heavy stuff like that because I hadn't gone through it for real, but ever since my mom passed suddenly a couple years ago, and I had to feel her go limp and cold in my arms as the bacterial infection slowly shut down each organ in her body while all I could do was watch and try to muster the strength to let the nurses shut the machines off, there are so many movies that just feel violating. It's not even fun anymore, I just either disassociate or skip it. Hard to enjoy a lot of things nowadays. I love movies but now I can't watch many of them in full. It's nice to know I'm not the only one 🖤
Same here!! Because my daughter was in the children's hospital undergoing chemo treatments so me and my wife stepped out for a breather while being there 3 months straight to see this movie when it first came out.
Peter..take my hand💔😭😭 PS I've lost three family members to cancer, the first of which was my mother who died when I was two, robbing me of any memories of her. First "theatrically released in the US" Marvel movie. There are earlier TV movies based on Spider Man, Dr Strange and Captain America (two of them!). One of the Captain America films was released theatrically in France. There was a 1940s Captain America Republic serial in the theaters (the last Republic serial as it turns out), but that was back when Marvel was called Timely Comics. Although many of their heroes debuted in their title called Marvel Comics and "The Marvel Group" was an alternate name for the company long before they officially changed the company name in 1961.
Alot of people don't know this but Cosmo the Spacedog, the one in the astronaut suit in Knowhere, actually has his own powers and is a member of The Guardians of the Galaxy. He was launched into Earth's orbit as part of an experiment but his spacecraft drifted out of orbit during the 1960's, eventually sending him to Knowhere. At some point during his spatial drift, cosmic rays mutated him, giving him his psionic powers such as telepathy and telekinesis.
Cosmo was created in honor of Laikia, an actual dog that the Russians shot into orbit back in the 60's. His best run was from 2007-2011 in the 'Nova', 'Guardians of the Galaxy', 'Annihilators' & other comics during that period. He was a great character & clearly written by people who love dogs. They changed the sex to Female in the 3rd Guardians film, but still did the character justice. Seeing her as part of the official team at the end of Guardians 3 was fun & I hope we get to see her again. My only real gripe is that there are many very talented 'Dog Actors' & there was no real reason to make the character completely CGI, other than convenience.
Guardians is what brought me into the MCU... I had watched Iron Man and one of the Capt Americas, and while I didnt dislike them, I didnt really care. I was reading a book and just wanted some background noise, turned on the tv and landed on this... after watching this I went back and started watching all of the movies I did not see. The 3 Guardian movies, Infinity War, End Game are hands and shoulders the best of the MCU.
Your questions about Thanos are valid but it will take time to answer them. As a villain, he won’t disappoint. James Gunn knows how to tell a story. And with this group of characters, he rents room in our hearts. I love watching movies with you.. such a big heart.. 💗
It was later made clear, Groot did die in this film. The sprout is basically his offspring who also goes by Groot and has the same vocabulary. Both Groots are voiced by Vin Diesel. Rocket was voiced by Bradley Cooper.
I’m my mind the top tiers are the Guardians franchise and the Russo Bros movies (Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame). There are other good movies in the MCU, but those are the most consistent for me
16:08 thanos was born "deviant" by eternal parents (Alars and Sui-san)... the eternals are powerful and immortal beings created by "celestials"... the power of thanos is so great, that he can use all infinity stones at once, without dying.
Thanos is of the race of Eternals from the planet Titan. His race has superhuman strength and endurance but Thanos is also a mutant and he has enhanced his powers through both scientific and mystical means. In the comic books Thanos was also a bit insane and had a delusional love for Lady Death, which provided another reason for his insane need to kill half of all living things. He felt he needed to impress Death.
That's in the comics. In the MCU, Eternals are synthetic beings manufactured and programmed in space, and Thanos doesn't have most of his comic book abilities. So we don't know if Thanos is really an Eternal or something else- we just know he's from Titan.
I always felt comic book Thanos' motivations make a lot more sense than the ones of his MCU version. Not having a choice in who you fall in love with? Falling in love in almost omnipotent being and feeling you have to become her peer in order for her to acknowledge you? I would argue he wasn't insane, he just became incomprehensible to everybody but cosmic powers - like force of nature, or Galactus - but he still was somebody readers could empathize with. A dude in love with a girl. I can't discuss MCU's version without massively spoiling it, but consider one thing: in few generations, universe would restore itself to prior state, like Thanos' great plan never happened and THanos never even existed - yet he considered himself its saviour. That's entirely another level of delusion.
@@AppleFrogTomatoFace yeah the comment from Eros about being brothers made it sound like some link exists, but we don't know exactly how. The Red Skull also called Thanos "Son of A'Lars " but that doesn't mean much. He also called Gamora "daughter of Thanos" and Natasha "daughter of Dreykov" so maybe it's not biological, Thanos was just raised on Titan? Which of course implies that he ages and was raised... Maybe Arishem created a different type of Eternals at some point who are actually organic beings born to parents. Also, MCU Thanos is apparently only 1000 years old, nowhere near the age of the Earth Eternals like Sersi, Ikaris, Makkari etc. Yeah the MCU's Eternal-related stuff is a real mess.
@@neospock5034 Natasha doesn't know her biological father in the MCU. her adoptive father is "Alexei Shostakov"... red skull gave the name "ivan" who is natasha's biological father... (clint barton son of edith... who is the biological father) so red skull gives the name of the real biological father, not adoptive. thanos (son of alars) is gamora's biological father.
The history of the Guardians of the Galaxy is unique and intriguing, as two versions of the team exist across two different universes. The original team's debut in Marvel Super-Heroes #18 (October 1968) was not in the familiar Earth-616 (Mainline Marvel Universe), but in an alternate timeline called Earth-691. This timeline, filled with dramatic events such as the Earth's world's ozone layer breaking down, the Bionics Wars, and a conflict with Mutants, led to their exodus into space. It's an adventurous journey exploring this possible Future of the Mainline Marvel Universe. But moving back to the Guardians, they exist in the 31st Century, a thousand years after the above events and mainline comics. The comic follows Charlie 27, Major Vance Astro, Martinex, and Yondu, who you know from this film. This was the original Guardians of the Galaxy team, existing within a possible future, yet they also crossed over with our own Earth-616 Avengers, Fantastic Four, when time travel was used. The modern Guardians of the Galaxy set within the Mainline Marvel Universe of Earth-616 appeared in Annihilation: Conquest #6 (April 2008). Every single member was a pre-existing character. Starlord appeared in Thanos #8 (March 2004), but the character first appeared in Marvel Preview Vol 1 #4 (1975) and was later retconned to be from Earth-791. It is a more Buck Rogers take on the character, very retro 1970s. Gamora made her first appearance in Strange Tales #180 (March 1975), while Drax first appeared in Iron Man #55 (October 1972), which was a surprise for many to see as his first comic being an Iron Man one. Finally, Rocket made his first appearance in Incredible Hulk #271 (February 1982), another pretty surprising first appearance. And Yondu of course returned with Star-Lord #1 (November, 2015) a year after the film released. This comic showcased the mainline Earth-616 version of the character. How did they get the name Guardians of the Galaxy? They discovered a displaced Major Vance Astro from Earth-691, the reality of the original Guardians of the Galaxy. He informed them about his team, and so Earth-616 heroes adopted the name as well, becoming the Guardians of the Galaxy we know and love today. Also Vance Astro, born Vance Astrovik also exists on Earth-616 a latent mutant with telekinesis powers. He also encountered his Earth-691 self as well when travelled back in time, and across realities, in an attempt to prevent Vance from becoming an astronaut and ending up in cryogenic suspension for a thousand years.
Correction: you were made for these movies. Your reactions are a thing of pure beauty. The amount of empathy you have is enormous. You have the best video reactions and not talking too much during the movies is the least of your problems. plus, your face is beautiful ❤
48:48 the story of thanos is partly explained in the avengers (infinity war)... you will have to listen carefully to what red skull will say about vormir... red skull's curse is to know all the people who come to vormir (he knows the biological parents)... and that we know the different powers of each one of the "6" infinity stones. Peter's story is explained in Guardians of the Galaxy 2... it is in this film that we know what a "celestial" being represents and their mentalities. Rocket's story is explained in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. when all these films are watched, the question to ask is = who is really the bad guy in the MCU
2014 was such a good year for movies, winter soldier was also release that year, interstellar, budapest hotel, birdman, nightcrawler, whiplash, gone, fury, edge of tomorrow, etc etc
Guardians is one of my favorite Marvel movies. James Gunn was heavily influenced by the TV series Farscape when making this film. Farscape is also one of my favorite TV shows. The lead character, John Crichton, was a human trapped on a ship full of aliens. You can see a lot of similarities with Peter Quill. The jokes of just being a human in an alien world really stand out. I love your reactions to all the Marvel movies. I can't wait for the next one! 😃
Wow! Guardians is a rollercoaster ride and that's the beauty of it! You are the 1st reactor I watched who recognized Karen Gillan as Nebula during the reaction (without looking it up after,) ! You have good observation skills, that's handy! Keep up the good work! Subbed!
The actress who plays Nebula, you may recognize as the badass "dance battle" redhead from Jumanji. Her name is Karen Gillian. I love these movies. I can't wait to you get to 3. They're ALL great, but IMHO that's the best one.
Ten years on and I think this is my favorite MCU movie. Close tie between this and The Winter Soldier. GotG2 took a few viewings before I started to appreciate it like I did this one, but some people connected with it instantly.
@39:40 As far as I’m concerned, “We are Groot” means “We are family”, and Groot was willing to protect his family, even if he had to commit the ultimate sacrifice. Niagara Falls over here, or someone’s cutting onions, one of the two.
My #1 and #2 MCU films are from this year. Guardians and Winter Soldier. Infinity War is #3 Cris Pratt was also the voice of Emmitt from the Lego Movie that year. Such a good year.
It is indeed great storytelling. And the fact that this film introduces critical elements to the overarching MCU storyline, and plays a huge role, winding in and out of those main elements across multiple movies, is incredible. The creators were damn confident in putting the entire series of stories altogether. Amazing.
Groot has a huge vocabulary which Rocket understands. But for those who don't know his language, I AM GROOT is all we hear. P S. Yes Nebula was in Jumanji. She was also in Dr. Who. Her name is Karen Gillan
Yes, this soundtrack is absolutely amazing, and definitely the best part of this movie. I have all of the soundtracks from iTunes, and they are all fantastic.
Stef the movie "Warm Bodies" is a kinda of a horror movie that has that human dimension you talked about at the end of this one. It has that funny quirk you don't expect. Its called Warm Bodies because its about zombies who are cold blooded because they are dead.
James Gunn is a master of the juxtaposition of heart, humor, and drama. I think you were responding to the insertion of human pop-cultural references making alien/cosmic situations more relatable. The MCU changes Thanos' backstory from the comics, but he is still from the planet (moon?) Titan. In mythology, the Titans were the ancestors of the Greek gods, which would make him potentially more powerful than "gods" such as the Asgardians, Thor, Loki, and Odin.
You will learn about Thanos in time basically. He is very different from the comics and MCU has its own spin that plays out throughout the Infinity Saga. Also, he doesn't have actual children, he just adopts children with insane potential to raise as his personal warriors, and refers to them as his sons and daughters. Basically his own version of the Avengers.
In the comics, he has a few biological ones. Like, the son Thane. Thanos is technically a human. He was birthed by Eternal parents on a different planet, Titan, with a deviant mutate gene. Thane, being an Inhuman, appeared as human until exposed to terrigenesis and that how he turned into the vegan, emo soyboy rager version of Thanos. One of the best Marvel comic moments is when Thanos tells Blackbolt to give up the boy.
not sure... in the MCU we know the true origins. in avengers, the red skull scene on vormir tells us everything = Natasha doesn't know her biological father in the MCU. her adoptive father is "Alexei Shostakov"... red skull gave the name "ivan" who is natasha's biological father... (clint barton son of edith... who is the biological father) so red skull gives the name of the real biological father, not adoptive. thanos (son of alars) is gamora's biological father.
"Terran" is the Marvel Comics alien word for "Earthling." I think it's supposed to come from the phrase "terra firma," which basically means land (and in the minds of the comics writers, Earth is the ground, space is up). I'm not sure at what point the comics started using that term for Earth people but it's been in use in Marvel for ages now.
There is a short animated series called I am Groot you should see now keep in mind its not essential but it is fun two season series. Also something to know despite I am Groot coming out in phase 4 or 5 if you watch it now the series does not spoil anything going for it.
Fun fact but the director of this movie and the next 2 Guardians movie (James Gunn) is the CEO of DC studios and he's also directing the next Superman movie... Yeah I trust him, he never misses.
Director James Gunn mo-capped baby Groot dancing. His best friend is Michael Rooker (Yondo) and Yondo's partner is his brother Sean Gunn whom also mo-capped Rocket. This was the first MCU movie after Disney had acquired them, and the quality of CGI just goes through the roof from here. The movies just get better and better after this with very little drop in quality, so buckle up ! Have patience with learning too much about the mad Titan Thanos and Nebula. Their stories are coming.
"I'm excited for the music" Girl, the music in these movies SLAPS! So many bangers! Too bad it's copyrighted 🤬. You're 100% correct Stef, Nebula and Ruby Roundhouse are both roles played by Karen Gillian.
In the comic books Yondu fires his special arrows from a regular bow and then controls them, but I have to admit, making it just one arrow that completely flies on its own is one of the few changes for a movie that I don't mind.
yeah. I remember when I first saw this movie. The moment when quill grabbed the infinity stone and Gamora said "grab my hand" but Quill saw his mother saying that, I'm telling you, I lost my shit. I cried so damn hard.
13:29 -So cute drinking your water! (now that's it's safe). Answers will come, don't worry. Keep them in mind for later. You will get unconfused on colors soon.
Oh. Stef, so many questions and there are many answers, in the upcoming movies, many movies. If you keep going with these kind of reactions you will continue to put pressure on other reactors. You are doing great young lady.
The MCU version of the guardian character are different from the comic book counterparts with some being stronger or weaker based off their live-action storyline. For example Drax is one of the last survivors of his species with a strength level around 100 tons which does not really compared to his counterpart who's strength is greater than Thanos because drax was made specifically to destroy Thanos. Rocket is smarter than Tony Stark with better than technology as well. Groot did die and the seedling is Groot's son. Gamora is weaker in the MCU then she is in the comic book but despite that gamora strength level is around 30 to 50 tons. Ronan the accuser strength level is equal to Thor and Ronan with the power stone is equal to Hulk.
In the MCU, Ronan the Acccuser's base strength is well below Thor, since he and Hulk are almost equal (slight edge to Hulk, but Thor has Mjolnir) In the comics, Ronan the Accuser's base strength was around 1980s Luke Cage/US Agent level (10 ton class) but wearing his armor it was increased to 60 ton class.
This was the first of the Marvel movies that made the music an integral part of the theme throughout! Others tried to copy this like Thor Ragnarok. But none compare to this as Quills connection to his mom is the music and it lasts throughout the entire movie.
Most people had never heard of The Guardians when it came out in theaters. It became a huge hit through word of mouth in a matter of weeks. Now, it's a pure classic with a group of the most loveable characters ever.

your last cry ("we are Groot") at the end of the movie was unbelievable. Incredible video-reaction.
Stef will learn all about these characters of the MCU as she gets through each movie 🤣🤣
I’m my mind the top tiers are the Guardians franchise and the Russo Bros movies (Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame). There are other good movies in the MCU, but those are the most consistent for me
You're completely right about Karen playing nebula and also in Jumanji.
If you think of Tanos' servent (who Ronan killed) you've seen him before--he was negotiating with Loki about the invasion of Earth in The Avengers.
Yes Nebula is played by Karen Gillan from Doctor Who and Jumanji
you're crying after 5min and after 15min i can say most honest reactor out there. subbed. please never change.
Laugh-Crying is 100% appropriate for GotG!
Good thing for her, the sequels don't have any heavy-hitting moments that will make her cry, right?
@@TheYakusoku precisely, it's all Up Hill from here! GOOD... TIMES... 😳
16:08 thanos was born "deviant" by eternal parents (Alars and Sui-san)... the eternals are powerful and immortal beings created by "celestials"... the power of thanos is so great, that he can use all infinity stones at once, without dying.
...no, he needed the Infinity Gauntlet to wield them without dying, and even then it hurt him immensely. Same as with Bruce when he used it.
A decade later and We Are Groot still hits just as hard as it did back then.
@@neospock5034you are right, but in eternals, they mention thanos being brother of one of eternals… mcu is just a mess after end game.
(clint barton son of edith... who is the biological father)
so red skull gives the name of the real biological father, not adoptive. thanos (son of alars) is gamora's biological father.
And Yondu of course returned with Star-Lord #1
(November, 2015) a year after the film released.
Yes she was on Jumangi. She's also been on Dr. Who
Each one gets better . And you love the characters more and more
48:48 the story of thanos is partly explained in the avengers (infinity war)... you will have to listen carefully to what red skull will say about vormir... red skull's curse is to know all the people who come to vormir (he knows the biological parents)... and that we know the different powers of each one of the "6" infinity stones.
Her:"what does Thanos do?"
Me: 50%
He won't do any half-assing! I'll tell you that
you don't know the half of it
Well she's half-way there to seeing thanos do his thing
He Thanotizes
I don't remember. I'll have to dust off my old Marvel comics and look him up. It'll be a snap.
2014 was such a good year for movies, winter soldier was also release that year, interstellar, budapest hotel, birdman, nightcrawler, whiplash, gone, fury, edge of tomorrow, etc etc
The musical score when Quill grabs the Power Stone gives me goosebumps every time
Guardians is one of my favorite Marvel movies. 😃
Is she the one in Jumanji? Very good. You are good at this. Is this your super power? Super reaction. Thank you.
You will learn more about Nebula and yes her actress is Karen Gillian from Doctor Who, the video game versions of Jumanji movies.
@39:40 As far as I’m concerned, “We are Groot” means “We are family”, and Groot was willing to protect his family, even if he had to commit the ultimate sacrifice. Niagara Falls over here, or someone’s cutting onions, one of the two.
Guardians of the Galaxy is definitely my favorite of all these films so far.
I am Groot.
prolly my favorite trilogy in the mcu
@@dracoargentum9783 I love that I had a prompt to "translate to English" here 🤣🤣
@@baloneyandfunk5234 😮I would die if it actually translated what I said
Thanos is a CPA - Certified Planetary Annihilator.
Howard the Duck was star of the very first Marvel movie back in 1986.
My #1 and #2 MCU films are from this year.
Guardians and Winter Soldier. Infinity War is #3
Cris Pratt was also the voice of Emmitt from the Lego Movie that year. Such a good year.
It is indeed great storytelling. And the fact that this film introduces critical elements to the overarching MCU storyline, and plays a huge role, winding in and out of those main elements across multiple movies, is incredible. The creators were damn confident in putting the entire series of stories altogether. Amazing.
It is indeed the actress from Jumanji. You got it pretty quick, especially since she looks wildly different
Groot has a huge vocabulary which Rocket understands. But for those who don't know his language, I AM GROOT is all we hear. P S. Yes Nebula was in Jumanji. She was also in Dr. Who. Her name is Karen Gillan
Guardians of the Galaxy is my all time favorite MCU movie and in my top 10 of my favorite movies of all time.
You’re supposed to be curious about Thanos but not get the answers yet. There’s like 7 more movies to go before he gets focused on.
These are really great movies as you are finding out. Laughing or crying they get everyone! Great reaction ❤
@@DirtCheapFU Hopefully he is nicer to his children in the comics than he is in the MCU.
not sure... in the MCU we know the true origins. in avengers, the red skull scene on vormir tells us everything = Natasha doesn't know her biological father in the MCU. her adoptive father is "Alexei Shostakov"... red skull gave the name "ivan" who is natasha's biological father... (clint barton son of edith... who is the biological father)
so red skull gives the name of the real biological father, not adoptive. thanos (son of alars) is gamora's biological father.
Isn't Nebula his only biological child?
Fun fact: Wyatt Oleff (young Peter Quill) was eleven-years-old when this movie came out, even though Peter is only eight.
The best Marvel "branch" IMHO ... I damn love Guardians 😁
At the time this was the best MCU film, i miss these days. Ps. Love your reactions, never stop.
I am writing this to help out stef and this video and this channel with the algorithm 🥰
2014 MCU was peak.
im excited.......1 min later........tearssss.
You will get unconfused on colors soon.
i swear Stef is constantly that confused pufferfish meme when watching MCU movies lmao
Oh. Stef, so many questions and there are many answers, in the upcoming movies, many movies. If you keep going with these kind of reactions you will continue to put pressure on other reactors. You are doing great young lady.
I can't wait until you see the rest of these ones 👏👌😔 Especially Volume 3!!
In the MCU, Ronan the Acccuser's base strength is well below Thor, since he and Hulk are almost equal (slight edge to Hulk, but Thor has Mjolnir)
In the comics, Ronan the Accuser's base strength was around 1980s Luke Cage/US Agent level (10 ton class) but wearing his armor it was increased to 60 ton class.
Love this channel. Can't wait to see it climb up to 500k and higher!
maaan ure not ready for the emotional roller coaster of vol.3

This was the first of the Marvel movies that made the music an integral part of the theme throughout!
Others tried to copy this like Thor Ragnarok. But none compare to this as Quills connection to his mom is the music and it lasts throughout the entire movie.
