@@Imyerda Punisher War zone is a very underrated movie. I knew it was in trouble when there were like 3 people with me in the theater seeing it on opening day but I love that movie!
I do love the scene where Loki changes himself into Captain America. Seeing Chris Evans have to act that way was so funny. They even had Tom Hiddleston act out the scene first, in the costume even, to give Chris Evans a point of reference on what to do.
Also Tuesday from Tiw/Tyr (patron of warriors and mythological heroes) and Wednesday from Woden/Odin (associated with wisdom, healing, war and the runic alphabet)
@@reactswithjax If you want the whole story: It was the Romans who named the weekdays. Sun(day), Moon(day), Mars (Tuesday), Mercury (Wednesday), Jupiter (Thursday), Venus (Friday), and Saturn (Saturday). But the Vikings changed the names to honor their gods instead, so Mars became Tyrs-day, Mercury became Odins-day, Jupiter became Thors-day, and Venus became Friggs-day. Saturday became Laug-day, which translates to Bath-day. The Vikings were known to be very clean and actually took baths once a week, while also combing their hair and beards often. If you're wondering about the name Wednesday, it comes from an older dialect called Germanic, that predates Old Norse, which eventually turned into the three Scandinavian dialects; Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. In North Germanic the name for Odin was Wodan, so Wodan-day became Wednesday. Saturday is of curse just the name Saturn-day that was used instead of Bath-day, but in Scandinavian we still use variations of the old spellings, so Tirs-day, Ons-day, Tors-day, Fri-day, and Lør-day (Laug-day).
In the first Thor, in the bifrost control room when Odin banishes Thor, Anthony Hopkins got so deep into the role, that Chris Helmsworth and Tom Hiddleston later admitted in an interview he genuinely scared them!
Loki is very loved by everyone, but now that his series has come out, he tells more about him, because his personality is like that, a great character, he is not a villain, now he is considered an antihero
Wow! This is officially my favorite reaction to this film. This is one that many fans dislike, but you "got" it and picked up on all the important aspects of the film that will come into play later. You have made it to the threshold, because from here on out, things get AMAZING, and I can't wait to experience it with you. It's about to kick off!
There's a lot of good stuff in this movie. And watching a reaction video emphasizes that - because when you edit down a full-length reaction, you naturally take out the uninteresting stuff. The reason (as far as I can tell) why this is considered the worst of the first three Thor movies is because of the main villain - he's just so generic and forgettable. Mindlessly evil for evil's sake. Like he was board and just decided to turn the universe back to darkness just for something to do. No back story, no reason behind his goals. I don't even remember his name. Looking it up again, it's "Malekith", but by the time I finish typing this sentence, I will have forgotten his name again. That's how forgettable he is.
Another excellent and engaging REACTION, good lady. I've experienced so many other channels that disengagingly are more running commentary RESPONDING than REACTION. As you, many are conflicted but none the less enamored of mischievous Loki, all simp for the imp. One thing you misinterpreted about Loki's consideration of his mother Frigga in his prison cell interaction, was due to you not registering her name when Odin's imprisonment sentencing of him included never seeing Frigga again: Loki: "He's not my Father!' Frigga:(heartfelt) "Then am I not your mother?" Loki: (matter-of-factly)"You're not." Loki reaches out to touch Frigga, she luminesces and dissolves away. Loki wasn't referring to Frigga not being his actual mother, only that with which he was presently interacting not being his actual mother, just a projection of her from elsewhere. Because Loki knew his mother's fidelity to Odin's wishes was absolute and would never outright violate his visitation restriction, and that she was using her witchcraft to circumvent Odin to comfort her condemned beloved son.
The arm handshake is where handshakes came from, to prove to each other that you had nothing up your sleeve. Kights proving they have no weapon dagger or something. And the smooching at the end with Thor and Jane, that was the actor who plays Thors wife. 😄
I love your reactions, you’re a real expressive person, and you have a warm sense of humor. And you also just get it, the stories the jokes, some reactors don’t always catch everything, but you gauge the story and follow along really well, which for someone like me who’s seen all these, it’s nice when people get it..♥️
Fun Fact: The new actor for Fandral (the blonde friend of Thor), is Zachary Levi, who plays Shazam in the DC movies (And starred in a great TV series called Chuck).
Why did I feel proud that you pronounced Mjolnir correctly! I feel like my little tip worked. This Thor movie was not received as well when it came out. Many felt it wasn't as good. R.I.P. to Ray Stevenson (Volstagg) whom we just lost this week. Frigga's funeral was really amazing on the big screen especially when Odin bangs his staff on the ground and you see the lights go to the sky. Loki's reaction was actually the saddest.
Thank you for teaching me how to say Mjolnir!! ❤🎉❤ I'm so glad I said it correctly! Frigga's funeral must have looked beautiful in theaters. And, yes, RIP to Ray Stevenson.
I love Loki so much, he is such a complex character, far beyond good or evil. It's impossible not to sympathize with him, even more so when we know that Odin is a horrible father. Also, he kinda saves this movie for me
After Endgame and the Loki show i came to the conclusion ( my opinion only ) that's hes one of the best of if not best Marvel characters. His story and writing are very interesting, and Tom Hiddleston is simply brilliant.

Fun fact: During reshoots Natalie Portman wasn't available for the after credits kissing scene, so as a stand-in they used Chris Hemsworth's real wife Elsa Pataky. Man got to kiss own wife! 🙂
That is Hemsworth's wife in that last kissing scene. Reshoots were being done and Natale Portman wasn't available, so Taika put Hemsworth's wife, Elsa Pataky, in Portman's wig and costume.
Fun Fact: The end credit scene with Thor kissing Jane- Natalie Portman was unavailable for the shot that day, so they put a dark wig on Thor's real life wife, Elsa Pataky (Who is blonde and a stunning woman and actress in her own right). That's why the kiss looked so real. Hope that was a fun fact. She was in Fast and Furious 5, as the female cop working with The Rock, just in case you were interested. :)
The Dark Elf language used here - called Shiväisith - was created for the movie, by linguist David J Peterson, who also created the Dothraki and High Valyrian languages for A Game of Thrones.
Hi Lamby and Jax. Have followed your channel for a while. Why i may not comment on everything. I have mentioned you remind me of Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop. (Dont know if you ever heard of her or watched her) You provide so much joy to people and my family, it is heart warming and it feels like watching a movie with a sister, best friend or a mom, aunt. I was eating my 5 star lunch today (Peanut butter and jelly) and watching your vid. (I work in concrete and bridge building..stressful to say the least) How relaxed i felt and warm watching your vid. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know im watching someone react to a movie but it feels like im right there in there in a theater. Much love and blessings ❤
Hi David! I remember you mentioning Shari Lewis. I'd never heard of her before but after looking her up, I've learned that she and Lamb Chop are wonderful! I really appreciate your kind words and I'm so grateful you enjoy my reactions. Your compliments have me smiling ear to ear! Have a wonderful weekend! ❤️
Handshakes started a long time ago. People used to greet each other with a rock in their hand or a knife or sword or spear... but as we got more civilized people would show their open hand with nothing in it and greet each other that way. Also, people use their own knives, in the olden times, to cut their food and stab other people and such. Again, we got more civilized, so everytime you sit down your knife is placed with the blade facing inward not outward.
Watching you volley from one emotion to another is worth the price of admission. The excitement you convey is all the reason we need for those of us who have seen these movies to watch them again. You are delightful and wide-eyed in your enthusiasm. The only thing better is watching your grasp of the characters' names and Stan Lee reaction light up your eyes. Keep going.
Omg you’re going to love Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It’s in the top five of almost everyone’s list for the MCU. That’s saying a lot when in 2023 there’s 25+ movies and counting, and Winter Soldier still holds its spot. Hell, Captain America: Civil War is also way up there. I think it’s in my top 3.
I think top 5 is getting really crowded now with NWH and GotG3, so not sure if that is still in almost everyone's top 5... TWS is still a fantastic movie though. It's only not in top 5 anymore (for me), because there are A LOT of great movies in the MCU. Edit: CW is still in my top 5 though :)
@@benediktmathes2528 well, I cheat and consider Infinity War and End Game as the same movie haha. But yeah, it’s hard to really pick a Top 5, and I weirdly find it hard to pick my bottom 3. Each trilogy is so uniquely different than the next. AntMan is in my top 5, but it’s a VERY different movie than IronMan and Cap1, GOTG.. but I can watch it over and over and laugh everytime, so it ranks for fun comedic light hearted reasons, yet it still beautifully fits in with the rest of the MCU.
18:09 I Only noticed this now, but I think the "Goat at a banquet table" comment refers to a story from Norse mythology, in which Loki entertained the guests at a banquet with a goat. If it was intended to be that, it's very... brave of marvel to reference that story. it's quite something.
Jax, you are my spirit animal and I adore your reactions! I don't know if anyone else pointed this out to you but Zachary Levi was originally supposed to play Fandral in Thor. However scheduling conflicts with Chuck came up and he was replaced with Josh Dallas. When Thor 2 came around, Josh Dallas had conflicts with Once Upon A Time and Zachary Levi was free. Crazy how Hollywood works sometimes.
52:34 Fun fact, this is Chris Helmsworth's actual wife. Natalie Portman was unavailable for reshoots so Chris asked his wife to play the part since she and NP are the same height and frame. Side note, people hate this movie among all the MCU movies. I loved it lol
omg i'm so happy u liked this one cause it's kinda universally hated in the fandom but the Thor movies have always been my personal favourite and nobody seems to comprehend why🤣👏❤
Some Marvel movies are homages to classic film genres. Ant-Man is a heist movie. Spider-Man: Homecoming is a John Hughes teen comedy. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a 1970s political thriller. To get into the proper mood before watching CA:TWS, watch not the movie but the modernized trailer for THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR (1975) | 4K Restoration | Official Trailer | The fight choreography and practical stunts in CA:TWS are the best of all Marvel Movies. It was directed by the Russo brothers, who had previously been known for the offbeat TV comedy series Arrested Development and Community. Their work in CA:TWS was so impressive they were brought back to direct three of the biggest Marvel movies. Pay attention at the beginning of CA:TWS when Steve Rogers keeps saying "on your left". That same simple line will have tremendous emotional impact at a key moment in a later Avengers movie that was also directed by the Russo brothers.
11:36 The bottle would actually fall faster each time because of gravitational acceleration. Air resistance would be the only limiting factor in how fast it could ultimately go.
I skipped a lot of stuff in school, but when I am not mistaken the gravitational acceleration itself is the limiting factor. Every falling object reaches the maximum speed after a short amount of time.
@@NeverKilledHillock What you're describing is terminal velocity, the maximum speed a falling object reaches in a fluid (like Earth's atmosphere). This is purely the result of drag caused by air resistance - a feather has a far lower terminal velocity than a rock, for example, due to its aerodynamic properties. But in a vacuum, all objects would fall at the same rate and constantly accelerate until they reached the speed of light (assuming they could travel infinite distance toward the center of gravity, which would be possible in an infinite loop between two nearby portals).
The MCU translated the Nine Realms of Norse mythology as nine different planets which were accessible via BiFrost portals. And the two realms with extreme temperatures you're thinking of were Jotunheim (land of the Frost Giants, which we saw in the first Thor movie) and Muspelheim, a fiery realm ruled by the demon Surtur.
It may be a bit different. In the Norse mythology books that I've read, there's Jotunheim - the home of the frost giants, but also Niflheim - the world of ice - which is a different place, that his combined with Hel (or Hell) the realm of the dead. Muspelheim - the world of fire, where the fire giants live, under their "king", Surtur. Midgard - Earth - that's us. Asgard - home of the Aesir gods (Odin, Thor, Heimdall, Tyr, Balder, Sif, etc. Vanaheir - home of the Vanir gods (Frey and Freya, and others, sort of "nature spirits" perhaps slightly "lesser" gods, but friendly with the Aesir) Alfheim - home of the elves (or "light elves") Svartalheim - home of the dark elves. Also called Nidavelir - and "dark elves" is translated as "dwarves". Gimle - the "High Heaven", the ultimate paradise. Valhalla is not one of the nine realms. It's a great hall located in Asgard. Where slain warriors go. They practice fighting all day, then feast and come back to life each morning - all in preparation for "Ragnarok" the Norse mythology ultimate showdown between good and evil. Long-winded bastard, ain't I?
@@PhilBagels Jotunheim was the land of all giants, not just frost giants, and was more 'wild' than Midgard or Asgard, unspoiled. Asgard was the home of the "high", more warlike gods, while Vanaheim was the land of more 'natural' and less warlike gods like Njord, Skadi, Freyr, and others.
@@lordmortarius538 Not according to the books I've read. Jotunheim for the Jotuns ("frost giants") - and also, there were multi-headed trolls there. And Muspelheim for the fire giants, led by Surtur.
16:45 Hime, doll! 👀 🌌🗡⚡️ Trivia time, the stand in for the last scene was Hemsworth's real life wife. I enjoyed the interactions between Thor and Odin!
Couple of things ... 52:35 - That's not Natalie Portman. She couldn't be on the set for this sequence, so they used someone who resembled her. Chris Hemsworth chose Else Pataki - his real-life wife. Also, Jax gets the luxury of being able to watch Thor 3 right after this. We had to wait four years to figure out what happened to Odin lol.
A lot of the lore is derived from Norse mythology, but Marvel took their own spin on it. They changed a lot, but at the same time Norse mythology does have a lot of holes and room for intreptation.
Hello Jax, The name of the language that Malekith and the other Svartlafr speak in this movie Thor: The Dark World is Shiväisith. Shiväisith language was created by linguist David J. Peterson, who was commissioned to create a language for the Dark Elves. These are some words and what do they mean in the language Shiväisith : Äskärdh - Asgard Äskärdhiksä - resident of Asgard Kevethidheen - the Convergence Ether - the Aether Lenger - Human Rashidheen - the Universe Mithkärdh - Midgard Jördh - Earth
Hi Jax. The F.randal's actor, was Prince Charming of Once Upon A Time. But he was in contract and was changed for Zachary Levy on this movie and Ragnarok. After performing Frandal, Zachary made Shazam on DC movies.
In Captain America red skull said the tesseract was the treasurer of Odin's throne room Odin use the cube to build the rainbow bridge so after the avengers movie thor brought the cube back to asgard and they rebuild the bridge.
Love how hypocritical Odin is. Right after chewing Loki out that their lives are comparable to humans, he tells Thor that human lives are nothing and he should go for an asgardian woman
Hey Jax! Love your reactions. The hammer can only be lifted by someone who is "worthy". The definition of worthy is debatable but it comes down to willingness to sacrifice oneself to save others and doing so from a place of humility. Thor in the first movie was arrogant and a warmonger. So, he wasn't worthy until he was sent to earth without his powers and what happened there happened. Also, Rest in Peace Ray Stevenson. He played Volstagg in the Thor movies. He passed away unexpectedly earlier this week.
I think the reason he didn't free Loki was because he was clearly locked up in relative luxury. Probably wasn't worth releasing as there was no way for him to know which side Loki would be on.
the reason why arms/sleeves are shaken/grabbed instead of hands is, in origin, to check for hidden weapons like daggers or brass knuckles. its also the origin for the phrase "something/nothing up (the) sleeve."
Sif is Thor’s wife in Norse mythology. Her main characteristic is her beautiful blond hair, (which represents the color of harvest grain, from the soil fertilized by Thor’s rain storms). MCU Sif is different and has black hair, but there is a funny story where Loki cuts off her hair while she is sleeping and Thor gets pissed. They make a fun reference to it later.
I knew it was going to be a good day when I saw you had this reaction on here. I just love seeing your honest reactions and the look of shock on your face for so many things. Especially since you are so good at figuring things out ahead of time. If it catches you off guard, we know it is truly shocking. Thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoy my reactions!!! ❤️🎉 This movie had so many unexpected twists and turns that took me by surprise. I can't wait to see how it all comes together! Have a great weekend!
I found this to be a good movie. Never understood the hate towards it. The story with its twists was likable and I enjoyed it. And I was absolutely blown away by that reveal at the end, with Loki taking over Asgard's throne. A decent Marvel movie which introduced some new exciting things and set up some new exciting things for the future... 18:53 You called it! it's refreshing seeing someone trying to figure this type of stuff out just like we did when the movie came out 29:14 If you remember, Thor and Loki used the Tesseract at the end of The Avengers to return to Asgard, so they mentioned the Tesseract during their brainstorming as a means of travel Fun fact: For the second post-credits scene, Natalie Portman wasn't available on set on the day to shoot the scene with Chris Hemsworth, so he got his wife actress Elsa Pataky to play Jane for that one scene as it was shot from behind Jane. So in this scene 52:33 Thor's actually kissing his irl wife, which I think is very cute So next up... Captain America The Winter Soldier, this is hands down the best action movie Marvel has ever made to date. It's just so, so good! Looking forward to your reaction to it, as things only get better from this point on!!
In Norse mythology, Lady Sif is the Goddess of Wheat, Earth, Harvest & Family, and Thor’s second wife. So yeah, that scene with her and Jane was kind of awkward.
Hey, Jacqueline! This is my favorite Thor movie despite it not being well-regarded. It is also the final film to embrace the character's medieval fantasy roots. Even though Hemsworth's Thor is mined for some sensational comedy in future entries, I always preferred the pseudo-Shakespearean version from the first two films as that was more faithful to his comic book depiction. "The Dark World" feels both Tolkienian and space operatic with the vaulted palaces, stentorian declarations and eldritch sorcery of the former as well as the cloaked vessels, energy weapons and unstable wormholes of the latter. The plot flips the fish-out-of-water scenario of the first film by having Natalie Portman's Jane Foster travel to Asgard but then quickly escalates into having to avert a universal holocaust and to contend with a grievous personal loss. Thor is opposed by two classic villains from the comics: Kurse and the Dark Elf King Malekith. It is profoundly appropriate for Alan Taylor to have helmed this installment as he is a veteran director of "Game of Thrones", a show known for castle sieges, royal intrigue and savage warfare! The ancient war with Svartalfheim led by Bor, Thor's grandfather, in the prologue is gloriously brutal while the invasion of and escape from Asgard are thrilling sequences! The chaotic world-hopping at the end is delightfully imaginative especially as Mjolnir tries to keep track of its master. I especially like how Asgardian tech such as the design of their skiffs provided the template for the Norse longboat when humans came into contact with these aliens. The most remarkable technology belongs to the Dark Elves, though, who have harnessed the power of miniature black holes to function as singularity drives that propel their Harrow ships and as IMPLOSION grenades that devastatingly compact everything in their blast radius to a microscopic point! The cast is top-notch yet again. A magnificently chiseled Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor Odinson aka Thor to portray a conflicted prince torn between two worlds. Tom Hiddleston brings incredible nuance and duplicity to Loki Laufeyson aka Loki, now a captive after his "Avengers" exploits. Anthony Hopkins, gruff and regal as ever, returns as Odin. Rene Russo's Frigga is given more of a showcase and her compelling death pays dividends down the line. The Warriors Three are also on hand with Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun and Zachary Levi replacing Josh Dallas as Fandral. The gorgeous Jaimie Alexander returns as Lady Sif to provide some romantic tension before leaving the role behind. Although she reprised the part for two episodes of "Agents of SHIELD" and two future MCU cameos, her starring role in TV's "Blindspot" prevented her character from completing a satisfying arc and she remains one of the MCU's criminally underused opportunities. Idris Elba lends his gravitas and sonorous voice to Heimdall again. Natalie Portman meets the parents as Dr. Jane Foster with Stellan Skarsgard as an addled Dr. Eric Selvig and Kat Dennings as snarky Darcy Lewis returning as well. Darcy has her own intern this time in the form of Jonathan Howard's Ian Boothby and Chris O'Dowd's sad sack Richard has the impossible task of being Jane's rebound guy! Although underwritten, Christopher Eccleston is appropriately cold and ruthless as Malekith. In the comics, he is gleefully vicious but lacks that dark joy on screen. Although it's colored purple-and-black in the comics, the villain's dichromatic face is represented after the right side of his white visage gets scorched black by lightning. Adewale is impressive as the hulking, indomitable Kurse. Tony Curran, in heavy wig and armor, portrays Grandpappy Bor in flashback, Clive Russell of "Game of Thrones" plays Einherjar Commander Tyr and the great Alice Krige has a bit part as Eir, an Asgardian physician. Taneleer Tivan, the Collector, played by Benicio del Toro, is introduced as is his servant Carina played by Ophelia Lovibond. Royce Pierreson of "The Witcher" appears briefly as a Greenwich student. Lastly, there's a fun cameo by Chris Evans as Captain America. TRIVIA: 1. The Svartalfheim sequences were shot in Iceland to provide a black basaltic soil landscape for the Dark Elves' homeworld. 2. Jaimie Alexander slipped on some steps on set dislocating a shoulder, tearing a muscle, slipping a disc and chipping eleven vertebrae! 3. Natalie Portman was unavailable for the end-credit scene so the woman who races to greet Thor is Hemsworth's actual wife, Elsa Pataky! EASTER EGGS: 1. Selvig's diagram for his sanitarium lecture features the numerical designation for the Marvel Comics universe, 616, as well as several dimensional junctures such as The Nexus, The Crossroads and The Fault! 2. The rock alien Thor fights on Vanaheim is the first appearance of the Kronan species in the saga which also debuted in Thor's first issue, "Journey into Mystery" # 83! 3. Although in a fluidic state, the Aether is identified as an Infinity Stone making it the third one encountered in the saga! CAMEO: 1. Stan Lee appears as a patient in the sanitarium who asks Selvig to return his shoe after the addled astrophysicist used it as a visual aid for his lecture! END-CREDIT SCENES: 1. Volstagg and Sif deliver the Aether to The Collector for safekeeping in his Collection since the Tesseract is already housed in Odin's vault and two Infinity Stones so near one another is a dangerous prospect. The Collector accepts and, after the Asgardians depart, reveals that there are six in total which he has designs of acquiring! 2. Jane, in the company of Selvig, Darcy and Ian, is shaken out of her funk when Thor returns and she races to her apartment balcony to greet him with a kiss! 3. Meanwhile, the Frost Beast from Jotunheim, stranded in London after the Convergence, is seen chasing a flock of birds at the site of the anomaly! The next chronological stop in the MCU are episodes 8-16 of Season 1 of "Agents of SHIELD".
Actually while the tonal shift in later Thor movie is more comedic, the first two Thor movies treat the Asgardians as more of a highly advanced alien race whose powers and technology were simply mistaken for magic, and whose visits to Earth inthe past inspired the creation of Norse mythology. From Ragnarok onward they're treated as more godlike and possessing real magical abilities.
I forget if this has been mentioned before to you but here's a fun fact: In the first Thor, Fandral (the robin hood-swashbuckler friend of Thor) was originally offered to Zachary Levi but was declined because Zachary was scheduled to record for his role as Flynn Rider in Tangled so they got Josh Dallas to play him in the first film. Now, in Thor: The Dark World, Josh Dallas was the one to have scheduling conflicts due to being Prince Charming in the Disney show Once Upon a Time. So they went back to Zachary Levi and he accepted. Speaking of Once Upon a Time, though...Sebastian Stan was part of that show as the Mad Hatter but, unlike, Josh Dallas's part, he was only a secondary role. So they were able to complete his story arc very early on so he could leave the show and do with Marvel films.
In the comics Marvel incorporates a LOT of mythologies and god pantheons, but the Greco-Roman(Greek/Roman) pantheon, the Norse Pantheon, and the Egyptian Pantheon are the big three that are used the most frequently. They do also have African Gods, Chinese Gods, Russian Gods etc.
Thor took place in 2010, the same time Iron Man 2 (which took place right after Iron Man) and The Incredible Hulk. The Avengers takes place in 2012. This movie takes place right after The Avengers in 2012.
24:38 No, if they have the Aether, why would they come to Asgard to get to Jane? Why were they sleeping all these years? Just like the Tesseract, the Aether is unique. The reason the Elfs woke up was because it has hidden from them and when it got into Jane they knew and they woke up. 41.50 Yep only if you are worthy you can pick up Mjolnir... if it was heavy that not even a truck could move it then it would have crushed Loki's chest in the end of the first Thor movie.
Taneleer Tivan, the Collector, is one of the Elders of the Universe; a group of powerful beings who are also the last of their kind. Each has a trait, or quirk if you will; The Collector gathers items of great power, mystery, or really just what he finds interesting. The Grandmaster holds the Contest of Champions and takes delight in competition and games of all kinds, etc.
Jax just to make your MCU journey a little more fun, aside from Stan Lee cameos, you should also be on the lookout for Infinity Stones when watching MCU movies, some of the movies have at least one infinity stone each and some don't. ( not gonna tell what/which MCU movies) These infinity stones are the most powerful items in the Universe, only beings that are powerful can wield them and possess their powers. A lot of times these stones don't appear as stones or sometimes they do look like stones but are hidden within an item (kinda like Horcruxes from Harry Potter). if someone finds all 6 infinity stones, he/she is the most powerful being in the universe and can do whatever he/she wants. which is why they say it is very bad to have infinity stones too close to each and that they must be scattered throughout the universe to the point that it is impossible for them to be found or collected. no one knows what the stones look like now or how they end up where they are now. all anyone who knows about them is they have been here since the beginning and the important thing is that they are scattered throughout the universe we already have the Tesseract which was introduced in the First Captain America Movie and also played a huge role in the Avengers Movie, and now we have the Aether which was introduced in this movie. so that's 2 down and 4 more to go. The 6 Infinity Stones Are Knowns As: Space Stone - The Tesseract Reality Stone - The Aether Soul Stone - ? Mind Stone - ? Time Stone - ? Power Stone - ? dont wanna spoil the rest of the movies to you so its up to you to find out and learn about the other 4 infinity stones which will be introduced in some of the MCU movies you haven't seen yet. So have FUN.
Hey, Jacqueline! CLARIFICATION TO SOME OF YOUR OBSERVATIONS: 1. The previous CONVERGENCE where Bor thwarted Malekith occurred 5,000 years earlier or 3,000 BCE when Sumeria was flourishing in Mesopotamia on Earth. 2. JANE was selected at random to be a host for the Aether. It just wanted out. The Stones may have a low-level sentience but picking Jane deliberately would have been counter to its purpose since Thor is in her orbit. 3. The boy with the truck wasn't performing magic. GRAVITY was variable at the site of the anomaly where the first fissures between Realms were forming. 4. The BEER BOTTLE was accelerating because it was continuously falling despite disappearing into a tear in space and reappearing from another. The rate of acceleration on Earth is a gravitational constant at 9.8 m/s squared. 5. The subcutaneous PELLETS that amplified the strength of the Dark Elves to berserker levels were not made of Aether. They were just Svartalfheim tech like the IMPLOSION GRENADES. Their tech may be powered by Aether energy but not composed of the Aether itself in much the same way that the Tesseract's energy powered the weapons used by the Red Skull's troops in "First Avenger". Malekith was empowered by the Aether itself at the end when he was projecting crystalline shafts at Thor and regenerating missing limbs out of Aether-matter! 6. Kurse left LOKI in his cell because he appears Asgardian and he was uncertain where his loyalties may lay unlike the rest who were off-worlders. 7. Frigga didn't make Jane vanish from Malekith's grasp. Jane was just an ILLUSION and not in the room at all for her safety. 8. SIF is Thor's wife in actual Norse mythology. Humans have the lifespan of fruit flies. Sif can afford to wait for the Prince to outgrow his mortal infatuation. In the comics, Sif's spirit temporarily inhabits Jane's body post-Ragnarok giving Jane an intoxicating taste of godhood. 9. MUSPELHEIM is the fiery Realm of the demon Surtur and NIFLHEIM is the icy Realm of the dead. Both are glimpsed during the Convergence. In the MCU, they're just two of nine planets accessible through the stable Asgardian wormhole called the BIFROST which is actually a rainbow bridge in Norse mythology. The other Realms are ASGARD (home of the Gods), VANAHEIM (home of demi-gods), MIDGARD (home of mankind), ALFHEIM (home of the Elves), SVARTALFHEIM (home of the Dark Elves), NIDAVELLIR (home of the Dwarves) and JOTUNHEIM (home of the Frost-Giants).
I'm pretty sure the Ether didn't choose her, but she found it, because in her search for Thor, she found herself tracking down points where the realms aligned.
Loved the reaction as usual. Do you do your own editing? Im guessing you do eh? The little memes and cuts and phrases are HILARIOUS! I dont have much to say about this movie, you got pretty much all of it. Very excited for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, an excellent film! Thank you for another fun reaction!!
This movie is usually ranked towards the very bottom of the MCU list, but I still say it's a very fun watch! The next two movies up though? Well those are both well towards the other high end of the list.
Yeah this has always been in my bottom 3, but I’ve recently rewatched it for the first time since it was in the theaters and I hate it much less. But since the movies are all so good, it still is in my bottom 3 or 4. The Loki projections are a little inconsistent. You can throw a rock through him or jump through him like Thor did in Avengers but then you can tangibly touch and seemingly kill a projection.
11:14 Darcy says "Well that doesn't seem right" is just deadpan hilarious. The Dark Elves language was made up for this movie. It doesn't serve a purpose. When we visited the other realms, they didn't make up new languages. To me it just slowed down the movie at a time it really didn't need that. Overall, one of my least favorite entries in the MCU but still not a bad movie.
I say go for it and binge the marvel series. It helps keep things fresher in mind for your questions and concerns. I also like the text you chose when asking questions like for example are they gods or aliens and settled on alien. While both can be true since they’re somewhat alien to us as we are to them. They consider themselves god’s and we have seen some of their powers so both statements are true for all we know.
Still loving your MCU reactions. You bring so much energy and humour, you had me chuckling a lot -- not least of all at your reaction to the way the movie ended 😁 And your captions and edits are great. I highly respect someone who can snark at herself the way you do! The insight you showed near the start of the film was impressive, wondering about a connection between the Aether and the Tesseract. As you found out during the mid-credits scene, they're two things of the same sort, namely Infinity Stones. You mentioned astutely that they don't look like stones, but there's a reason for that. All will become clear in time. To answer a few of your questions: Prior to the escape from Asgard, Thor and his friends mentioned the Tesseract. That's because it can open portals through vast distances of space. It's what Thor used at the end of "Avengers" to transport himself and Loki back to home. So Odin locked it up during this story to prevent any unauthorized departures. As for what the Collector collects, the simple answer is: Everything. If he finds it especially rare or of interest to himself, he will add it to his vault. And yes, that includes keeping living and intelligent beings in cages. Great work, Jax. Keep it up!
I'm so glad you love my reactions and the editing! ❤️🎉 Thanks for answering my questions as well! I forgot that the Tesseract could be used as a portal. I like that they had to come up with a different way of getting out of Asgard.
The grenades used by the Dark Elves are black hole grenades. Once thrown they open a small rift that sucks all matter into it in an implosion. Not a very pleasant way to go. With regards to the Tesseract/Ether question. The Tesseract in addition to being a power source of unlimited energy also can create portals to anywhere in the universe. The Ether, also a source of energy, has the ability to alter reality for whoever wields it. The reason Kurse ignored Loki and left him in his cell was because he considered him an Asgardian and thus an enemy of the Dark Elves. He did not know that Loki was actually a Jotun. Pronounced Yoh-tun. 😊
7:18 - "Look at that sky! That is gorgeous!" Yeah huh. We totally agree you weren't referring to Chris Hemsworth there. 52:36 - Fun fact, the woman Thor kisses here is his real life wife, Elsa Pataky. Natalie Portman was unavailable to shoot this post-credits scene but Pataky has the same petite build as Portman so they made it work.
gods i LOVE this move lmao The banter between Thor and Loki is what sets up the next Thor movie, plus like you very astutely pointed out, Thor DOES lose alot and goes through the ringer a little more than most other heroes... But he doesn't stop being Thor. He's definitely my 2nd favorite after Captain America/Steve ❤ even the friendship beteeen Steve and Thor is amicable(who Loki decides to impersonate amomg the MANY Avengers) they're both Children of War and both have lost soooo much to the past. This is VERY underrated, but the GOLD in this movie is amazing... Like i said from Thor and Lokis relationship, to Thor and Jane, THEN the getting to know the worlds and other Asgardians. There's just SOOO much this movie adds to the Universe Lore that its alot to take in.. but ots genuinely one of my favorites
Oh please Jax, don't let us wait so much longer in days or weeks or months for each of your reaction on Marvel movies. I love your reaction on Marvel Movies.....
If I remember correctly, in Norse mythology, Freya and Frigga are the same entity. Frigga was just a pet name used by Odin, but has the same masteries, and some different, as Freya.
The MCU fandom really has Loki love. This movie is the turning point in his character. For comic book followers this is a departure from the Loki character and honestly of most of the Thor comic. Personally I do think this was better to get the early interest in Marvel Studios but I miss the evil Loki and the more godly Thor. Also nice of you to review this movie this week. RIP to Ray Stevenson.
The modern audience has a complicated relationship with gods. The stakes in cosmic battles have the cosmic scale. Emphasizing his inter-personal relationships is where the drama in his character lies.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the reaction. I thought this movie did a good job of deepening the character development of Thor and Loki, even though they do deviate from the comics. ❤
You are absolutely right, Thor doesn't have it easy. Starting out as a sunnyboy without any responsibility or emotional maturity... he ripens a lot because he has to endure a damn lot. I like how he is emotionally a very deep character, more so with every movie he partakes in. But also is one of the funniest or goofiest. Can't wait for you to watch Ragnarok, and see what you think about it. I can't imagine the struggle of having a reaction channel. You wanna binge these movies but you can't really do that for a few reasons xD .
Jaaaaax! I’m super glad you enjoyed this one! When it came out, a lot of people were very upset, saying that it was the worst Marvel movie. And for a long time… For many people… It was voted the worst. But without any spoilers, Marvel goes through great lengths in the future to keep tying this movie into other things and referencing it and making it important. Now- for a lot of people I feel like it has grown in popularity and importance! I cannot wait for the next one! As I’ve told you before, it’s by far my favorite! And knowing how much you love, Steve, I’m sure you’ll love it too! 💙
I've never understood the hate towards Thor TDW. I loved it then and still do. It takes a more serious approach towards the character, which he needs, especially after they ruined him in Love & Thunder.
@@Astro95Media I seriously can’t view it in one go, I get so bored and disinterested, but I’m glad other people enjoyed it, that’s what movies are for.

Thursday come from “Thor’s Day”. Thor’s mother is Frigga. Friday was named after her.
She was the one who taught Loki magic.
Also Tuesday from Tiw/Tyr (patron of warriors and mythological heroes) and Wednesday from Woden/Odin (associated with wisdom, healing, war and the runic alphabet)
That is AWESOME!! I never knew that!
@@reactswithjax If you want the whole story:
It was the Romans who named the weekdays.
When Odin yelled at Loki, “Your birthright was to die!”, that gave me goosebumps.
In the first Thor, in the bifrost control room when Odin banishes Thor, Anthony Hopkins got so deep into the role, that Chris Helmsworth and Tom Hiddleston later admitted in an interview he genuinely scared them!
Same!
Especially with how he put emphasis on the ends of words, like, “Your birthrighT was Die-y.” Should sound stupid but not with SAH shouting it.

@@testfire3000 IKR? Even Lokes didn’t respond with another smartass remark after that.
Loki is very loved by everyone, but now that his series has come out, he tells more about him, because his personality is like that, a great character, he is not a villain, now he is considered an antihero
Why say this before she's even near the loki series? You have problems.
Why is the “got” in quotation marks?
I never understand the hate for this film, I've always loved it.
@@jamesweible5357 Me neither. And same.
Thank you! I had a good time watching it, but it makes me excited for the movies to come if they just get better!
Another excellent and engaging REACTION, good lady. I've experienced so many other channels that disengagingly are more running commentary RESPONDING than REACTION.
As you, many are conflicted but none the less enamored of mischievous Loki, all simp for the imp.
One thing you misinterpreted about Loki's consideration of his mother Frigga in his prison cell interaction, was due to you not registering her name when Odin's imprisonment sentencing of him included never seeing Frigga again:
Loki: "He's not my Father!'
Frigga:(heartfelt) "Then am I not your mother?"
Loki: (matter-of-factly)"You're not."
Loki reaches out to touch Frigga, she luminesces and dissolves away.

Oh gosh!
The Winter Soldier is arguably the greatest MCU film.

After Endgame and the Loki show i came to the conclusion ( my opinion only ) that's hes one of the best of if not best Marvel characters.
His story and writing are very interesting, and Tom Hiddleston is simply brilliant.

It's in my top 3 with civil war and infinity war
@Benedikt Mathes nah winter soldier is still in the top 5 today
18:09 I Only noticed this now, but I think the "Goat at a banquet table" comment refers to a story from Norse mythology, in which Loki entertained the guests at a banquet with a goat. If it was intended to be that, it's very... brave of marvel to reference that story. it's quite something.

Some Marvel movies are homages to classic film genres. Ant-Man is a heist movie. Spider-Man: Homecoming is a John Hughes teen comedy. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a 1970s political thriller. To get into the proper mood before watching CA:TWS, watch not the movie but the modernized trailer for THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR (1975) | 4K Restoration | Official Trailer |
The fight choreography and practical stunts in CA:TWS are the best of all Marvel Movies.
In the Norse mythology books that I've read, there's
Jotunheim - the home of the frost giants, but also
Niflheim - the world of ice - which is a different place, that his combined with Hel (or Hell) the realm of the dead.
Muspelheim - the world of fire, where the fire giants live, under their "king", Surtur.
Midgard - Earth - that's us.
Asgard - home of the Aesir gods (Odin, Thor, Heimdall, Tyr, Balder, Sif, etc.
Vanaheir - home of the Vanir gods (Frey and Freya, and others, sort of "nature spirits" perhaps slightly "lesser" gods, but friendly with the Aesir)
Alfheim - home of the elves (or "light elves")
Svartalheim - home of the dark elves.
@@PhilBagels Yeah, I was thinking it was Hel.
Awesome! Thanks for explaining that! ❤

Thanks for explaining about the hammer! I really appreciate it. ❤

18:53 You called it! it's refreshing seeing someone trying to figure this type of stuff out just like we did when the movie came out
29:14 If you remember, Thor and Loki used the Tesseract at the end of The Avengers to return to Asgard, so they mentioned the Tesseract during their brainstorming as a means of travel
Fun fact: For the second post-credits scene, Natalie Portman wasn't available on set on the day to shoot the scene with Chris Hemsworth, so he got his wife actress Elsa Pataky to play Jane for that one scene as it was shot from behind Jane. So in this scene 52:33 Thor's actually kissing his irl wife, which I think is very cute
So next up...
TRIVIA:
EASTER EGGS:
CAMEO:
1. Stan Lee appears as a patient in the sanitarium who asks Selvig to return his shoe after the addled astrophysicist used it as a visual aid for his lecture!
END-CREDIT SCENES:
Fun behind the scenes: Natalie Portman wasn't available for the end credit scene. Chris Hemsworth's wife is playing Jane.
That's awesome!
I forget if this has been mentioned before to you but here's a fun fact:
In the first Thor, Fandral (the robin hood-swashbuckler friend of Thor) was originally offered to Zachary Levi but was declined because Zachary was scheduled to record for his role as Flynn Rider in Tangled so they got Josh Dallas to play him in the first film.
Thanks! ❤️
This movie and The Incredible Hulk have the shortest run time of any MCU Movie to date.
Actually Thor is from 2011, one year after Iron Man 2
To answer your questions, yes, Thor and Sif have been a thing. In the comics and in Norse myth she is Thor’s wife
RIP Ray....you were a gifted character and supporting actor and a good man❤❤❤, you were Volstagg, The Punisher and in many other roles ❤❤
( not gonna tell what/which MCU movies)
These infinity stones are the most powerful items in the Universe, only beings that are powerful can wield them and possess their powers.
A lot of times these stones don't appear as stones or sometimes they do look like stones but are hidden within an item (kinda like Horcruxes from Harry Potter).
if someone finds all 6 infinity stones, he/she is the most powerful being in the universe and can do whatever he/she wants. which is why they say it is very bad to have infinity stones too close to each and that they must be scattered throughout the universe to the point that it is impossible for them to be found or collected.
no one knows what the stones look like now or how they end up where they are now. all anyone who knows about them is they have been here since the beginning and the important thing is that they are scattered throughout the universe
we already have the Tesseract which was introduced in the First Captain America Movie and also played a huge role in the Avengers Movie, and now we have the Aether which was introduced in this movie. so that's 2 down and 4 more to go.
The 6 Infinity Stones Are Knowns As:
Space Stone - The Tesseract
Reality Stone - The Aether
Soul Stone - ?
Mind Stone - ?
Time Stone - ?
Power Stone - ?
dont wanna spoil the rest of the movies to you so its up to you to find out and learn about the other 4 infinity stones which will be introduced in some of the MCU movies you haven't seen yet. So have FUN.
RIP Ray Stevenson (Volstagg)
RIP Ray "Volstagg" Stevenson. 😔
Hey, Jacqueline! CLARIFICATION TO SOME OF YOUR OBSERVATIONS:
Ah, that makes sense!
Thank you so much! Yes, I do my own editing! So glad you enjoy all my added jokes!! ❤ I'm looking g forward to the next film!
The plot was hard to follow the first time around, and (speaking as a Walt Simonson fan) they really mucked up the Dark Elves from his work.
Darcy has such great comedic timing!
That is gorgeous!"
Yeah huh.
OMG I literally found you today and I just finished Iron Man 3 and click off and see this video 38 minutes after it was uploaded
Woohoo!! ❤️🎉❤️ I'm so glad you are enjoying my reactions!
gods i LOVE this move lmao The banter between Thor and Loki is what sets up the next Thor movie, plus like you very astutely pointed out, Thor DOES lose alot and goes through the ringer a little more than most other heroes...
My schedule is every other week for Marvel movies! But I know you want them faster! ❤️
If I remember correctly, in Norse mythology, Freya and Frigga are the same entity. Frigga was just a pet name used by Odin, but has the same masteries, and some different, as Freya.
Sif is Thor's wife in the nordic miths. They're tipping a hat to that i think.
7:06 We wish.
You wanna binge these movies but you can't really do that for a few reasons xD
.
They're right. This movie is hard work
