The Bifrost is not a people. It is the bridge/device that Asgardians use to travel to other realms and what Thor destroys in the end. The Frost Giants' artifact is called The Casket of Winters.

Answers to two questions you asked: (1) Loki is the son of Laufey, the king of the frost giants, but because he was born a small runt, Laufey was going to let him die. (2) Loki's adoptive mother, Frigga (Odin's wife, Thor's mom), taught him magic as a child, to help him feel less inadequate in comparison to his brother Thor. That's why he can do a lot of things frost giants can't. Only Odin, Frigga, and Loki know how to use Asgardian magic.
"Am I supposed to be confused? Because I'm a little confused." Whenever you're dealing with Loki, "confused" is one of the typical reactions to be expected. 😆
"Whosoever holds this Hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Remember that line/spell by Odin on Mjolnir. Also Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life, which you'll hear again VERY soon!
SHIELD didn't know anything about Thor or his hammer. They only knew that something putting off a lot of power materialized in the atmosphere and crashed into Earth. And Loki didn't "effect" Odin. That was just Odin's grief. Similar to a mortal having a heart attack. He was overly stressed. Lot going on for him right now. He was thinking he'd lost both his sons and his people were heading into war.
Loki is Laufey's son and was going to save Odin by killing Laufey in order to make his position as King of Asgard. Loki is a powerful sorcerer with a huge array of abilities which is why he was able to remain unhurt by falling off the broken Bifrost Bridge. Most of Loki's use of magic is illusion but it isn't his only gift by far.
I believe Loki when he says he brought the Frost Giants in just to ruin Thor's big day. After the events that lead Odin to confess Loki's heritage, Loki now had twice the motivation: A father that left him to die, and a proxy that kept him to use.

When Agent Phil Coulson was talking about they found it they meant the 084 which is a object of unknown origins. When a frost giant catches you it causes extreme instant frostbite. Odin was sick and fell into a coma due to the Odin sleep. Once a year Odin must fall asleep to recharge his powers and the reason Odin felt sick was because he put it off due to the possible war with the frost Giants.

Loki's powers in this movie are largely "witchcraft" learned from his mother, Frigga. He also uses the Casket of Ancient Winters to freeze Heimdall and the bifrost. The Casket was the artifact that Odin seized from Jotunheim during the opening battle sequence.
Loki is the master of mischief. He has the power of illusion among other things. Some of it he was taught by his mother who has similar powers. She and Odin were the only ones who knew Loki's origin. You may come across some anal commenters who will say that's not really a part of Norse mythology. Myths aren't exactly factual and neither are comic books. The Dr. Don Blake ID for Thor was a callback to the comics where Donald Blake was an actual doctor who found the Hammer while hiking in Scandinavia. He could change between human and Thor but became human if the hammer was out of his grasp for more than a minute. In the comics Jane Foster was his nurse.
Marvels asgard ect is loosely inspired by the old norse religion, they take alot of liberties. The MCU is inspired by the comics, alot is lost in translation :)
@br0ken_107 I'm old enought that I read the 60s Marvel comics as they came out. I still have some of them. Trust me, the MCU origins were better written.
Thor Odinson is the god of thunder and is about 1500 years old. Loki Odinson is the god of mischief and also about 1500. Odin, son of Bor, Alfather (basically, he's the god of knowledge). This stallion is over 5500 years old. In Iceland, we still use the names of our father as our last name. Like my name is Jón and my father is Bragi, so my name is Jón Bragason For women it's "...dóttir" instead of "...son"
Loki is magic... and magic in Marvel is basically capable of anything. There are no rules to magic really, so Loki is basically able to do whatever the writers want to have him have learned to do. Mostly he just teleports, finds secret routes between worlds, makes body doubles that can't touch any physical objects... but in the comics he can project lightning and wish upon wishing stones to basically acheive almost anything. Loki is very powerful, but that is intentional, as the writers always want to make Thor more powerful and Loki needs to always pose a real challenge to Thor.
Odin (Odin's day, Wednesday), Thor (Thor's day, Thursday), Frigga (Odin's wife, Thor's mom, Frigga's day, Friday), and the others (Loki, Heimdall, The Bifrost or Rainbow Bridge, Mjolonir Thor's hammer) were all lifted by Marvel from Norse mythology and adapted for the comics in the 1960s. For those with a passing knowledge of Norse mythology they are familiar names and characters, but most people aren't expected to know the mythology or the comics. Those of us who do, smiled at each familiar reference during the movie. Thor's journey from the reckless warrior or Norse legends to the heroic character from the comics was a good introduction to both the historical figures and the comic heroes and villains.
“TELL ME!” And, with those two words, a dynasty was born. I could- and have- talked for hours about Tom Hiddleston’s performance and Loki’s unique dynamic with Thor and Odin.
Bit of trivia for you: the guy @15:34 is J. Michael Straczynski. He’s a writer; he worked on the Thor comic, created and wrote almost every episode of old SF series called Babylon 5, and co-created and has a writing credit on almost every episode of Sense8 (among other writing credits). He’s also, by the accounts I’ve heard, just a Good Person.
I love watching reactors who are both romantic and nerdy -- you fit the bill perfectly, so it's great to re-take this journey with you as a huge MCU fan myself. Keep up the great work!
Loki's powers are basically trickster magic, taught to him by his adoptive mother, rather than just something he's born with. Also the film tells you that he knows other ways into asgard, so makes sense he'd know ways out of it too (plus you can never believe what you're seeing when it comes to loki). Its definitely a big jump from some rich dude making a suit, to magic being everywhere, but theres more to come so its good they threw it into the mcu this early tbh
Fun fact, did you know that Jim Carreys movie THE MASK is related to Loki? In the movie he finds Lokis mask. The rest is history. Loki is an interesting mythological character with alot of history throughout Scandinavia and Germania
SHIELD didn't know about Thor. They detected the energy burst from the Bifrost and sent Coulson to investigate. Shield's job is to protect the world from high-tech or dangerous threats. You will see their origin in the next movie. Loki is a trickster. You can't trust anything with him, like when he let go and apparently fell into the abyss. That was an illusion. What he really did was use one of his "secret paths" out of Asgard and was invisible to Fury and Selvig while using his "Jedi mind tricks" to influence Eric Selvig. The glowing blue cube, like most post-credits scenes, is a clue to what the next movie is about.
Funny story: I took a (ex-) gf to see this in the theatre. Height of the MCU madness and its PACKED. Like standing room only. 😮 Its dead quiet in the audience as they are all talking in the around the table and in walks shirtless Chris Hemsworth ... every woman in the entire theatre gave a sharp, audible and involuntary inhale. Including the girl I had brought with me 😅 The silence returned for only a half second or so before we all started laughing :) acknowledging that we all had heard it 🤣😂🤣 Great movie! Probably the best of all the Thor movies imo. LETS GOOOOOOOO!! 💪😎💪😁
The other power that Loki has he got from his & Thor’s mother. She taught him witchcraft basically. Also, Loki is the actual son of Laufey. There are many Sorcerers & Witches in the MCU.
Definitely looking forward to this one! 😊 Absolutely love Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. And really enjoy Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. That scene when Loki confronts Odin about his true parentage...phenomenal performance by Tom Hiddleston in that scene! You will see the cube fairly soon. Yes, you are meant to be confused. That last scene is meant to tease that Loki is still alive and active, and that something is going on. Loki learned magic from his mother, Frigga. I don’t think we really get to see that side of her in the MCU.
Unlike others. Thor for the most part was born with some powers. But the hammer does let him channel that power better. Thor movies are for sure the most different from the other movies in terms of effects and setting too. Which is a good thing at times.

The answer to most of Stef’s questions here is simple: ITS MAGIC!! what’s impressive about Thor is how they humanise the myth. But beyond that these are logic questions that the superhero genre isn’t all that concerned with. How does a man fly?? Physics doesn’t not provide an answer but every superhero film says it’s possible😊
You need to try and watch the films in release order to get all the links. If you haven’t seen it yet you need to watch Captain America The First Avenger before going any further. It’s a great film and he’s a key character, would fill other gaps too!
Whilst Thor’s powers are more combatant like his Fathers, Loki studied with their Mother, Fregga to develop his powers, which I think gets explained more in Thor 2.
Everyone seems to forgot about the spell Odin places on that hammer..before that moment anyone can use that hammer absolutely anyone but now only those deemed worthy can lift that hammer now…and Thor when he truly becomes king he can also do the things Odin can do
You need to watch Captain America The First Avenger. The things that you are not picking up on will go much easier if you watch the movies in the order they were released. Captain America before the Avengers. :)
I’ll always defend the first THOR film. The music/score, alone was something that always stood out to me that I don’t think has been replicated in the rest of the MCU, IMO. And compared to the forced humor that his character has been reduced in recent films makes me appreciate this film even more.
I love that it feels almost as if more of her personality shines through over time with these reactions. When she's mouthing "sorry!" while opening the whatever that was it was funny and kind of adorable XD
Thor was my first introduction to the MCU and I loved his character the most after this movie, compared to Iron man who I really appreciated more an more with each phase.
A few of the things the Marvel movies do really well is the fraught step-brother relationship between Thor and Loki, as well as the romance with Jane Foster. Those aspects make this movie one of the best of all!
I don't think Shield necessarily knew about Thor and the hammer. They just knew there was an atmospheric disturbance that was really weird and the hammer came from there.
Reliving the Marvel journey with Stef woooweee!!! don't worry Stef that you are confuse about the end credits because next up Marvel film is none other Captain America my favorite Marvel character you will know more after you finish watched Captain America: The First Avenger
This is the format Marvel should have stuck with during the Thor saga. Kenneth Branagh did this movie justice and some before Marvel turned the sequels into a joke.
I never seen the Thor The movie 🎥 I have heard storm chasers I could pull out to his hammer out by myself I really like the rainbow bridge. It was a nice touch to it did brighten up the movie. Well done. I have seen Ragnarok 2023 and that was amazing and touching. He just was friends. I’m proud to be his friend too.
Clarification - Shield didn't know anything about Thor. They heard about the people gathering in the desert to look at something that fell from the sky. That's what Coulson meant when he said they found it.
Stef, Loki is a god like Thor so a simple will not kill him. The post credit scene is a glimpse into the first Avengers film which is coming up soon. I applaud your passion for the characters and stories. Enjoy the ride, Let's go! 😊
Note, Loki is infatuated with Thor: his way of proving himself is to duplicate the last thing he knew Thor to have done; then he only suggests violence against Jane when he realized Thor’s love for her, becoming jealous.
Dr. Selvig is played by Stellan Skarsgard, father of Bill (It) and Alexander (Northman) Skarsgard (along with Gustaf, Sam, Eija, VAlter, Ossian, and Kolbjorn; yes, I'm reading the list of sons he has). Stellan being Swedish makes him more ethnically related to Norse Mythology in the film. Probably should have his accent rather than British.
If it makes you feel any better, I’m also confused about Loki’s powers, he doesn’t have any of these powers in his mythology. Also not raised as Thors brother or was treated as a son, either. He also indirectly murdered a beloved god out of jealousy, so I guess they kinda got that aspect of him right.
The town of Tønsberg, Norway features a few times in the MCU. This movie, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Avengers: Endgame. Norway is mentioned in Thor: Ragnarök by Odin.
What's really entertaining from Stef is more of what she doesn't say: that look in moments of silence and bewilderment, than what she does say. Very entertaining. 😎📽️😁
it’s all set up .. each movie answers some questions and adds questions for the next movie ;;;; @ 23:57 .. the man with the bow ??? Hint .. it’s Hawkeye …nuff said .. you’ll see …
Once you have your own family, it changes everything. See how Odin wants to prevent war at all costs, but young brash/ reckless Thor just wants to kill the frost giants. Does he have to go thru a whole kind of JOURNEY to earn back the right to be Thor? Yes- that is the entire premise of the old Thor comics… he was in exile on Earth, his spirit trapped in the hammer, until a WORTHY human archaeologist found it. So the movie is a little different.
Confusion will be cleared up eventually, keep sharp and remember details. Still only at the beginning of things, small glimpses everywhere. Release order and all will be made clear (or a little bit clearer ).(Cute sleepy puppy!)

Whilst Thor’s powers are more combatant like his Fathers, Loki studied with their Mother, Fregga to develop his powers, which I think gets explained more in Thor 2.
Loki is the God of Mischief, explains most of it.
Odin is fucking ridiculously powerful.
Captain America: The First Avenger is one of my favorite Marvel movies. I'm so hype for that reaction.
This Thor movie is amazing my favorite one love the video Stef stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way
Yep one of the best for me and best Thor movie
smashing glasses/mugs after enjoying a drink, is Norse/Viking culture, tho we dont do it anymore...
Everyone seems to forgot about the spell Odin places on that hammer..before that moment anyone can use that hammer absolutely anyone but now only those deemed worthy can lift that hammer now…and Thor when he truly becomes king he can also do the things Odin can do
Careful not to confuse the Bifrost - which is the bridge to the realms - and the Frost Giants, which is the race of blue giants.
You need to watch Captain America The First Avenger. The things that you are not picking up on will go much easier if you watch the movies in the order they were released. Captain America before the Avengers. :)
Omg Stef looking amazing.😍😍😍
She knows what she's doing with that top, especially in the thumbnail. It's a simple fact: sex sells; always has, always will.
I’ll always defend the first THOR film. The music/score, alone was something that always stood out to me that I don’t think has been replicated in the rest of the MCU, IMO. And compared to the forced humor that his character has been reduced in recent films makes me appreciate this film even more.
Stef - you're going an awesome job. Thanks for helping us relive one of the greatest epic movie journeys of all time.
Letsss goooo!!!
Thor and Loki are two of the best characters in this rendition of Marvel…
I think you’re really going to enjoy Loki… 😎
I love that it feels almost as if more of her personality shines through over time with these reactions. When she's mouthing "sorry!" while opening the whatever that was it was funny and kind of adorable XD
Thor was my first introduction to the MCU and I loved his character the most after this movie, compared to Iron man who I really appreciated more an more with each phase.
A few of the things the Marvel movies do really well is the fraught step-brother relationship between Thor and Loki, as well as the romance with Jane Foster. Those aspects make this movie one of the best of all!
I found the love story between jane and thor kinda generic tbh. The loki and thor relationship is brilliant tho
‘He can do that?’ Yes… Odin is wildly powerful. One of the most powerful beings in the marvel universe.
“How?” It’s called ✨magic✨
I don't think Shield necessarily knew about Thor and the hammer. They just knew there was an atmospheric disturbance that was really weird and the hammer came from there.
As far as Loki is concerned he IS the god of mischief. In Norse mythology he is variously portrayed as merely annoying and downright evil.
Reliving the Marvel journey with Stef woooweee!!! don't worry Stef that you are confuse about the end credits because next up Marvel film is none other Captain America my favorite Marvel character you will know more after you finish watched Captain America: The First Avenger
It will all be explained as you go, and there will be more questions that need answering!
Sometimes i believe wide angle lens was an great invention ✨
For You For all of us!!!
Stef, Loki is a god like Thor so a simple will not kill him. The post credit scene is a glimpse into the first Avengers film which is coming up soon. I applaud your passion for the characters and stories. Enjoy the ride, Let's go! 😊
This was one of Marvel's best, Thor is an amazing character, and Loki even better
Note, Loki is infatuated with Thor: his way of proving himself is to duplicate the last thing he knew Thor to have done; then he only suggests violence against Jane when he realized Thor’s love for her, becoming jealous.
Captain America here we come!!
Hi, at this point Shield knows basically nothing about Thor or the hammer. This is his introduction to earth since ancient times.
Thor and loki are some of my favorite marvel characters
Great movie. |One of the best Mcu movie. Loki is the god of mischief. The next one Captain America is also great.
Coulson just meant, "We found [whatever was picked up on radar/caused the sonic boom/explosion/disturbance.]"
You'll learn more about that "Cube" along with the other "five stones" as you continue on your MCU journey.
it’s all set up .. each movie answers some questions and adds questions for the next movie ;;;; @ 23:57 .. the man with the bow ??? Hint .. it’s Hawkeye …nuff said .. you’ll see …
This one was a real treat, Stef. I know it was for you too.
In the Norse religion, Sif is Thor's wife. Loki is closer to Odins brother
Loki is also father to major creatures in Norse Mythology, and mother to at least one..
Loki....God of Mischief.
Stef coming with the quickness
This movie is so cool, it's a shame how underrated it is. Nice reaction
It’s amazing how a man in love can change ..

And... there you have it. The one and only appearance of one of the most iconic and badass helmets in the history of Marvel.
Never.
Used.
Again.
Ugh
This version of Thor is different to the versions that come later - it's not a case of character development, they are different characters
What makes you say that?
@@toddhensley880 watching the movies ?
@@grandotaku2501 what specifically in the movies indicates that?
@@toddhensley880 any detail i get into would be spoilers for Steph, so instead consider - what is Thor's character arc in his various appearances keeping in mind what is established about the character in this movie. You might then see what i'm getting at.
@@grandotaku2501 LOL. So it’s your head canon. Got it.
Unlimited power! Who else said that coming from Star Wars Palpatine. I think it's a bad omen: UNLIMITED POWER!! 🧛
Loki is on earth, controlling Dr. Selvig
It isn't that SHIELD knew about the Hammer. They just knew there was an event that suggested they investigate.
