  • NEW ARGO 8x8 Goes In The Pond! We go to the dealership to buy a new ARGO Frontier 700 amphibious side by side and by the end of the first day it ended up in the POND! The Argo Frontier 700 Scout is an 8x8 amphibious vehicle that can operate on land AND water. There is still a LOT of anxiety when driving a new and expensive UTV right into the pond. In the video I will discuss what an Argo is, why is it called and argo and what is an amphibious vehicle. Most of all, does and amphibious vehicle really float and should you buy an amphibious vehicle. You may ask yourself by the end, "should I buy and argo amphibious vehicle?!?" We also will install a few argo accessories and some fishing pole holders. The argo will be used for lake and pond maintenance on our Tennessee farm. I suspect there will be plenty of skepticism about whether an argo is worth the money, hopefully by the end of the video you can decide if an Argo is something that would be right for you or if it would be best to pass!

      Thanks Dale! And yes, life jackets are a must on the pond. We try to balance danger with the kids with smart decisions. Side by sides are a lot of fun; but they are dangerous. Especially one that floats! I would be a terrible example if I didn’t practice what I preach. As always appreciate you my friend!

    Joe had to come watch full video. Built a hovercraft as a kid and flew on lake. It went right up the steep ramp with a buddy driving and the parking area was sloped. Hovercraft went fast and slid to contour of parking area hit a boat trailer, it hit another and it hit a truck rear fender. No cell phones then, we left letters of who to call and was easy for Sheriff I was the only one with hovercraft. Still have videos of it flying on lake and up ramp and smashing trailers. Guys insurance paid for repairs. 😂❤

    Joe. The argo line up and the Mudd Ox line up are the only true All Terrian vehicles out there. They fliat on water. I live in florida, my great friend has a Frontier and he trusts me with it. He bought a 9.9 outboard motor and mounted it on the argo motor mount. We take it to St. Augustine boat ramp. I sit in the back. His motor is electric start and tilt control. We drive it off the trailer, put all our stuff in it and then drive to the boat ramp. People just point and laugh. Once in the water i lower my motor into the water and then start it and off we go to our secert flounder spot. Now this is salt water, so alot of maintence happens once we get back home. But within a few hours we get our limit on flounder. Boats cant get to where we fish. There are alot of areas where i have to raise the shaft up so we can drive on the few sand bars. Now we had to get it registered as a boat, so our numbers are on the hood. Plus we had to get life jackets, a whisle but we also installed a marine am/fm/ cd player radio on the dash plus we bougt a anchor and a flair gun. He also had the roof and windshield installed. Just in case we got a rain storm. His biggest option was buying some Adair tracks. Because we both love going trail riding. Mostly everybody knows that adair track you will neverget stuck. We have gone thru peanut butter mud that was over 4 feet deep. Now at the atv park we have pulled out all those other types of ATV's out of the mud using our winch. And they were veryhappy we did. One day i will own a Frontier but mine will be in orange color to match my truck. You made the best investment that you could do. There are also videos on youtube that people mount there snow blades on them to clean there driveways. Congrats on your purchase, plus one day your son might be able to help you keep your pond clean and normal looking.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  Год назад

      Thanks man; and that’s an awesome story about how you use one in salt water. I actually bought the trolling motor accessory in case we want to float a river but haven’t installed it yet because the tires do all I need them to do. It’s such a cool machine. I almost bought the orange because it’s an awesome color and looks cool; but we’re kind of a camo family. Lol. And yes, my son has been learning and one day I hope we can work together on things like that. Btw, I always wear life jackets when on the water. Know too many folks that drown. Just never know. Take care my friend!

    I enjoyed your video, I can't see how low the front end is when I am in the water, but I do know that if you don't sit in the middle of the front seat with no other weight in the Argo, to balance it out, it will capsize, so be extremely careful. Unfortunately, Argo caved to North American pressure, to move the steering position to the left side of the unit like a car. It was more stable when one sits in the middle, but that does limit the seating to one adult up front, and maybe two small kids on either side. Have a 2023 Argo Frontier 8x8, and I need it to cross a body of water to my home. It's my sea going pickup.
    I am Canadian, which is where the Argo is manufactured. Up here, we call them XTV ( XTRA TERRAIN VEHICLE ) as compared to ATV's ( All Terrain Vehicle ) which handles all terrain, except for water, that's where their usefulness stops.
    Argo right in the Owner's manual will tell you that they are not a toy, and to that , up here children are not allowed to handle them,, unless they are driving age, 16 or older.
    As I said, I needed transportation back and forth with a load carrying capacity, which the 8x8 provides, but when I tried to fish from it, and leaned over to haul my fish in, it almost capsized on me. Fortunately I was in shallow water, so the wheels it bottom which prevented it from completely flipping. But I have no doubt that if I hadn't been in shallow water, it was on it's way to rolling over.
    So I use it for transportation only, which is what I need it for, but it is disappointing that I can't fish from it.

    I think that thing is awesome. That being said you need to move the center of gravity aft(boat lingo). I would take off the winch but keep it you. I'm sure you have something to pull it out ifyou get stuck. Because it is out front like that its weight probably doubles or more. I'm not a engineer but I have have had alot of boats. That's where my money for stupid stuff goes love being on the water takes stress away like the farm for you.

      You are right; and they are designed to pitch forward but when I have the sprayer in the back with the marine battery it really levels out. I know it isn’t going to be like a boat, the convenience and fun factor won out! And Dale, boats are awesome…I get it.

    Hey Joe Steven here quick question in the state of Tennessee I know it states you can use feeders and such for deer but 10 days prior to hunting season it must stop....does this apply to privately owned land as well.....in Florida its legal as long as it's private....Tennessee laws may be different I've looked and it's not clear from what I see reason I ask is my dad has land up there in Tennessee

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  Год назад +1

      Hey Steven, hope all is well! Yes, all feed and food products need to be completely removed 10 days prior to hunting. We will stop feeding end of this month and not take any chances. Once the doe and fawns get max nutrients and the bucks get some extra weight nature does the rest. You can still put mineral out (if pure mineral) but deer really aren’t that interested in it when the fall comes. They want sugar. Hope you get to TN!!!
