It’s about a person who admires and looks up to someone, but is not getting recognised and is always overlooked.

I guess the inspiration is from Tills time as an athelete when he went to a sports school and the girls there were not interested in the young men just in their training and career.

If you liked this there might be some other fan made videos, especially "Dalai Lama" which was inspired by the german poem "Der Schimmelreiter" or the excellently animated video "Spring" (Jump).

I love the structure of this song. The first half has that slow eerie chill vibe as Till describes the stalker just watching. Then bang! The song changes and gets harder as the story gets more physical and stays that way. The two parts, fire and water.

    Hi D. Great reaction.
That was a pleasant surprise, me mentioning the song the other day and there you are reacting to it.
Regarding your analysis imo perfect interpretation. My exact same take.
It's about daydreaming of somebody you are attracted to, just taken by. And at the same time you instantly know, anything beyond that dream is never going to happen.
The song is in my top five of their catalogue. So powerful. It starts so quiet and soothing (for me as a German 😅). Love the moment, when the guitars hit.
And than the solo. Superb. The lyrics, the picture they paints in your mind are fantastic.
Boy, did you feel uncomfortable in the beginning reading the lyrics😂. Being a little goofy. Love you
Btw, the video is by educatedmarine.
With love from Germany 🤘🏻 ❤

It's definitely a story about stalking. It's about the guy, who knows that you will never get the girl he wants, maybe because she's beautiful, and he isn't, maybe because she's rich, and he isn't, maybe she has a higher social standing or role and he hasn't. The fire and water are definitely a metaphor for that as well as a metaphor for his hot desire/lust and her beauty and and emotionlessness towards him. "Glatt wie ein Fisch" (slippery as an eel {adj} [idiom] - glatt wie ein Aal [Redewendung]) means superficial perfection with a shady core (blaming / hate-loving her) and could also mean he can never hold her, or she is unreachable. But it could also mean that he grabbed her and did something to her, while "kalt wie Eis" (clod as ice) could describe her feelings for him as well as hinting towards murder. Although definitely sxu al it is very poetic and well thought through.

I am going to start adding a particular Patreon die hard Rammstein FAN Comments when I am lucky enough that he sends me the info .....so here is one for this Video :)
Backgroundinfo about Rammstein's Feuer und Wasser
"Feuer und Wasser" is a song that explores the dichotomy between fire and water, drawing a parallel to the complexities within relationships and human desire. The lyrics depict Till's fascination with a woman while using vivid imagery and metaphors related to fire and water to illustrate the intensity and conflicting emotions experienced. The song begins with Till's expressing his appreciation for the woman's beauty as he mentions her breasts and how they hold his attention. However, he clarifies that it is not just the physicality of her chest that captivates him; rather, it is her essence that draws him in. The mention of "Funkenstaub" (sparks) flowing from her center and a "Feuerwerk" (firework) emerging from her crotch further emphasizes the metaphorical connection between the woman and fire, symbolizing her irresistible allure and passionate nature. The chorus, "Feuer und Wasser kommt nicht zusammen, Kann man nicht binden, sind nicht verwandt" (Fire and water don't come together, Can't be bound, are not related), acts as a refrain, repeating throughout the song as a reminder of the inherent incompatibility of these two opposing elements. The use of the elements fire and water in this context symbolizes the opposing nature of the two individuals involved in the relationship - Till and the woman he desires. They are unable to coexist harmoniously, much like fire and water. The second verse depicts Till's desire to see the woman from a different perspective, behind her, revealing a desire for intimacy and a deeper connection. The mention of her breasts and the imagery of her legs opening like scissors further allude to the sexual tension and desire present in the narrative. The lyrics then describe how desire illuminates and inflames Till, portraying him as being consumed by the passion he feels for her. The bridge of the song portrays a sense of resignation and powerlessness from Lindemann. He acknowledges that the woman does not notice him as she swims by, and he feels like only a shadow, unseen and insignificant in her presence. The lyrics emphasize that there is no hope or confidence in realizing a relationship with her. In the final verse, the lyrics become more explicit in their depiction of desire and physicality. Till describes how his blood boils in his loins, while his wet hands firmly hold onto the woman. The metaphors "Glatt wie ein Fisch" (smooth as a fish) and "kalt wie Eis" (cold as ice) depict her unattainability and emotional distance. The line "Sie wird sich nicht an mich verschwenden, Ich weiß" translates to "She will not waste herself on me, I know." This final statement reveals Till's acknowledgment that his desires are futile and unreciprocated. Overall, "Feuer und Wasser" delves into the complexities of desire, the unattainable nature of certain relationships, and the contradictory emotions that arise from such situations. Through the powerful imagery of fire and water, Rammstein explores themes of passion, unrequited love, and the inherent contradictions that exist in human relationships.

In my opinion, Till is describing a fan who describes his relationship with his idol. He knows her most intimate secrets. He is in the shadows, she is in the light. And when he finally gets very close to her and shakes her hand, her hands are as cold as ice and she shows no interest in her fan.

I've never really taken to this one. I like the first quiet half, then when it hits it seems to go nowhere new, it just wanders on to the end. Ah well, I see it's a favorite for others so maybe it's just me. As I've said before, it would be very boring if we all liked the same things - what would we argue about eh? LOL.
