Cricut just announced an exciting new product that is going to change how you make T-shirts, totebags, coasters, and more! If you’ve ever been frustrated at how iron-on vinyl (HTV) doesn’t seem to be as durable as you’d like, Cricut Infusible Ink changes all that. Cricut Infusible Ink is an all-new product that gives us commercial-level, permanent heat-transfer effects with rich color that is peel-proof, flake-proof, and wash-proof.
So, are you ready to learn more? Let’s look more closely at how Cricut Infusible Ink actually works! This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link I will earn a small commission but it won’t cost you a penny more)! Read my full disclosure policy.
    HOW CRICUT INFUSIBLE INK WORKS:
STEP 1: Choose a Cricut Infusible Ink-compatible blank, such as a T-shirt, baby bodysuit/onesie, tote bag, or ceramic coaster (those are the blanks I know of now-there should be more later!)
STEP 2: Pick your Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets - there are both solid colors and patterns to choose from!
STEP 3: Make your design in Cricut Design Space
Cut your design out on the Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheet using a Cricut cutting machine (Explore, Joy or Maker)
STEP 4: Use the heat from an EasyPress 2 to transfer the design on the blank - your heat source needs to get up to at least 390°F for the heat transfer to work.
STEP 5: The ink is then infused into the surface - it is not an adhesive that melts onto the surface like iron-on vinyl (HTV). Unlike an iron-on transfer or vinyl application, where image is stuck to the top of a base material using an adhesive of some sort, an Infusible Ink heat transfer becomes one with the material itself. That’s why it works so well!

Thanks for the tutorial, Jennifer. Not thrilled with having to use polyester t-shirts with the infused ink. We have horrible heat & humidity in Central Texas during our overly long summer and polyester doesn’t breathe like cotton. Guess I will do winter t-shirts with this product. Disappointed with this limitation.

A tip: the swatch of fabric is to be used to wipe any of the ceramic or glass items you are planning to use.

Since Christmas my husband ( the computer geek) has gotten all we need to do infusible ink transfers on tee shirts. He is using my original paintings . Today he had done 3 tee shirts and one experimental shirt , so I guess my job is to paint and he makes shirts since I still do the computer part.

Does anyone know what applique is? I know it is an extra step but you can put you image on the proper material seam the edges and the applique to your cotton material.

I am curious if you can assign different colors to designs in Design Space to have them drawn with infusible ink rather than coloring in the design as I have a tremor and am afraid I will just make a mess trying to color in a design.
