I’ve been testing Cricut Infusible Ink on a variety of T-shirts beyond the official Cricut T-shirts. The two big keys to determining what you can and can’t put the Infusible Inks onto are MATERIAL CONTENT and COLOR. For Infusible Inks to transfer to T-shirts properly, they need to bind with polyester or polymer surfaces. And because the Infusible Inks are transparent rather than opaque, they need to be on white or light colored surfaces. These fusible inks look best on a white background. A good T-shirt for Infusible Ink is one that has a hiqh polyester count and is white or pastel.
So I’ve put Cricut Infusible Ink on lots of different types of T-Shirts! And then I washed them ALL to see what they looked like afterward. Want to see?
Here’s a list of all the T-shirts I’ve tried with Cricut Infusible Inks :
WHITE T-SHIRTS WITH CRICUT INFUSIBLE INK
100% polyester shirt - white - Hanes Cool Dri at amzn.to/30kJM8n
92% polyester/8% spandex shirt - white - No Boundaries - Wal-Mart
95% polyester/5% spandex shirt - white (Cricut Brand at Michaels)
90% polyester/10% spandex shirt - white - Terra & Sky (Wal-mart)
80% polyester/20% cotton shirt - white - Fruit of the Loom at amzn.to/2XO9RPf
65% polyester/35% cotton shirt - white - George (Wal-mart)
40% polyester/60% cotton shirt - white - George (Wal-mart)
100% cotton shirt - white - Fruit of the Loom (Amazon)
COLORED T-SHIRTS WITH CRICUT INFUSIBLE INK
100% polyester shirt - blue - Hanes Cool Dri at amzn.to/30kJM8n
92% Polyester / 8% Spandex shirt - Gold - No Boundaries (Wal-mart)
80% Polyester / 20% cotton shirt - Hot Pink - Athletic Works (Wal-mart)
65% Polyester / 35% cotton shirt - Pink/Blue/Purple George (Wal-mart)
50% polyester / 50% cotton shirt - Blue - Gildan (Michaels)
40% polyester - 60% cotton - Pink & Blue - George (Wal-mart)
100% polyester shirt - Green - Gildan (Michaels)

WHITE T-SHIRTS
100% polyester - white - Hanes Cool Dri (Amazon) - These worked REALLY well!
92% polyester/8% spandex - white - No Boundaries - Wal-Mart - These T-shirts also took the Infusible Ink well!
95% polyester/5% spandex - white (Cricut Brand at Michaels) - This is an official Infusible Ink blank from Cricut and is guaranteed to work.
90% polyester/10% spandex - white - Terra & Sky (Wal-mart) - The design didn’t evenly infuse into the material, and I’m not sure if it is a faulty shirt or user error.
80% polyester/20% cotton - white - Fruit of the Loom (Amazon) - These look great and washed well!
65% polyester/35% cotton - white - George (Wal-mart) - These worked pretty well, though you can see how the image isn’t as vibrant to begin with and has a wee bit of fading after one wash.
40% polyester/60% cotton - white - George (Wal-mart) - While the Infusible Ink applied well to the shirt, you can see how much fading occurred after just one wash. Avoid this shirt.
BLACK T-SHIRTS
40% polyester - 60% cotton - Black - George (Wal-mart) - You cannot even see the Infusible Ink because it is transparent!
As you can see, Cricut Infusible Ink does not show up on dark and black shirts. But if you put a WHITE layer on first, then put the Infusible Ink onto the white layer, it does work! Here are my experiments using Siser StripFlock HTV (top) and Cricut White Glitter Iron-On (bottom).
If you just have to use that dark or black shirt, first apply a layer of white glitter HTV in the same cutout shape, then put the Infusible Ink over top of it (I did it at 386°F for 40 seconds).

This is an incredible video. You are so amazing to spend so much time helping us! I’m so intimidated by infusible ink - I don’t know why. But I’m glad I waited now, as i didn’t realise how important the poly component was until I saw your comparisons
This video must have taken you so long. You’re a sweetheart to give us so much of your time xx
You're so welcome! Thank you so much! 🌸

Happy to help!
Very helpful video. You’re so precious! I enjoy listening to and watching you!
I don’t know if this was mentioned in your responses, but you started out with “polyester/spandex” and then went to “polyester/cotton”; there is definitely a difference between spandex and cotton; so based on that, what I summarize from your demonstration “polyester %’s” is definitely the key component....on the other side of this, thank you for your work that you put in for this education....much appreciated!!
Love these test videos you do! They're soooo helpful!
YAY! SO glad!
Thanks for the time, $ and energy you put into these videos. They are very informative! 💕

You are awesome for doing this! I already messed up my cricut shirt on the first try....cloudy...but it will be a sleep shirt. Good to know on the different products.
Great video! Thank you for all the work you put into it!
Great job!! Thanks for testing so many shirts for us!!
Thank you so much for this video. You save so many so much money and time. I would love to see if this would also work on regular white vinyl instead of the glitter vinyl for colored shirts...would be great for boys/men’s shirts to be more personalized...now you have a whole new wardrobe or a lot of Christmas presents!!! Again, thank you much ❤️❤️❤️
I really appreciate you taking the time testing out for us to save us money. This is very helpful.

I’m new to Cricut and I recently had an infusible ink not transfer onto a navy shirt and I love your tip! I’m one of those that doesn’t prefer light colored shirts so happy I came across this video. Thank you!

this is a really great breakdown, thank you for doing this. helpful to see what happens with mostly cotton shirts, i wouldn't have thought about scorching.
Wasn't that great to see what happened? I LOVE experiments!! 😍
Thank you for this you saved me from going crazy. I was going to use red infusible on a black polyester fabric and had nothing shown up I would have been trying to figure out what I did wrong. Thanks for the great video

I love dark shirts, and I have a huge backstock of non-100% polyester shirts, so this video saved me soooo much $$ thank you!!

So awesome thank you for always going above and beyond and just showing us the trials and errors thank you
YAY! Happy to help! Thanks Octavia!
This was a big help. I just got an easy press 2 mainly because I am interested in the infusable inks. You answered a lot of questions I had. The black shirt with glitter vinyl is awesome. And it didn't look juvenile. I prefer darker tops. So, thank you so much.
You are so welcome, Nannette! 😍
This is so great! Thanks for taking the time to do this. I only have the Easy Press I, so I'm worried about the extended heat harming the glitter vinyl... But I think I'll try it one of these days. Or does this ink over glitter vinyl only work with the ink sheets, not the pens?? Thanks for all you do.
Love this super helpful and detailed video!! Thank you for all your efforts 💕
You're so welcome, Ayesha! Glad it was helpful! 😍
Thank you for this video! It was super helpful!
I made my 1st one on a shirt from JoAnn's. Washed/dried and still looks great.
That is awesome!
Ty for making this and all your videos. You are awesome
I'm so thankful for this video! I am looking into buying a cricut to help add to my garment sewing projects, but I always steer clear of polyester when choosing fabrics - So it's good to know I won't be able to use the infusible inks. (I would love to see how a viscose or rayon goes as it is a man-made fibre from a natural element) Also very interesting as basic dyes work best on cotton and terrible on polyester! Loving watching these videos and learning before I buy!
You are so welcome! 😍
Thanks Jennifer!!! 🥰 I bought a box of infusible ink 💕Now I feel more confident in trying it 🥰 I just Love.... your videos!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much! 😃
Thank you so much for this video. While the Cricut shirts are soft, the choices are super limited. I hope you'll try some of the tri-blend shirts soon.
Thank you for the video. I was just looking at infusible ink at the store the other day and wondered how to use it.
It's a really fun product! You should try it out! :)
thank you always for sharing. your videos give me courage to just jump in and do it ❤️❤️

YAY! Glad to help! :)
Such a helpful video, LOVE IT!
Thanks. I haven't tried the infusible inks yet but now I can't wait to go out and get them.
You're going to LOVE them! :)
Thank you for your patience to explain so very well.! Love it!
Thank you so much for sharing. Also for giving your files in your blog
Love this video. So many questions answered. Do you think using the lower temps with the easy press 1 may help or make any sort of difference on the various transfer results?
Thank you so much for making this video!
Thank you for being so informative. I'm still trying to understand everything else, before I begin w/ the infusible pens. There is so much awesomeness to learn
Thanks for watching! :)
That is exactly the info I was looking for! thank you!
Glad it was helpful, Jutta! 😍
Jennifer, Thank you for this video. It is so helpful and will save me lots of $. I just bought an EasyPress and was rearing to go. Thank goodness I watched this video before purchasing blanks!
You are so welcome! I'm so happy it was helpful!
New subber 🥰 cant wait to keep learning from you ☺️🤗
Thanks so much for the comparisons, so helpful! 😊
Glad to help! :)
Thank you so much! I've wanted to try the infusable ink, but cricut doesn't offer toddler size shirts.
Hi Jennifer, how are you? Thank you for sharing this valuable information. I especially loved what you did with the black shirt. Nice idea. Thanks again. Take care.
I'm great! Thank you! :) Thanks for watching! :)
You saved me from wasting an entire sheet of infusible ink! I was going to make my kids' shirts on black cotton shirts but decided I would read/watch your test video first.
YAY! SO glad to have helped!
I love how thorough you are in your testing videos! However, in the black shirt test I would have liked to see a 100% polyester black shirt to give it the best opportunity to show the color. 40% was already not going to look nearly as vibrant. Just a thought.
I am learning so much from these videos!!
YAY!
This is such a great video! Have you tested infusible inks on sweaters or hoodies?
Just found this video & looking forward to finding out about the shirts. I’ve begged both Michaels & Cricut for extended size shirts.
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial!!!
I know I've said it but you're so helpful!! I love that you do so much testing just to help us out💜💜💜
So happy to help! :)
The video we needed

YAY! Happy to help! :)
This was great!! was wondering how well it will hold up n the wash..
Thank you for your tenacity!!!! So glad I don’t have to test all of those myself 💕💕
You're so welcome! Hope they have helped you!
Fantastic video as usual. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the video! I can use this for my cheer bows!
You are so welcome, Shelby! 🥰
Thank for these videos. I found you by chance when looking for videos for my cutter which isn’t a cricut. There is very little info available for it which is totally sad. However your videos and blog have been a blessing.
Awesome! Thank you for crafting with us, Cheryl Ann! 😍
Thank you so much, this was very informative

I'm so glad that it was helpful! Thanks for letting me know! 😍
I am new to this channel and it’s actually been very helpful. The shirt that was 90% polyester I had that happen to me when using infused ink on a cricut shirt
Oh, no!!!! I am so sorry that happened! But, that's how we learn best, isn't it, Charlene, from what goes wrong? 😂
This video SO helped me out! Thanks for testing these out. :)
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!😊🌻
Thank You . I love how you are so clear at explaining things. I can't wait to go play :P
