Been searching for this movie for so long! I remember seeing the trailer and everything, but didn’t watch. It was like it fell off the face of the earth. I knew it began with S, but kept typing Salam sailing in the Yemen 😂 I’m so glad I found it!😭
So excited to get this one and watch it!!! Had never even heard of this movie until literally a few minutes ago. Huge fan of Emily Blunt and I adored Kristen Scott Thomas in The English Patient (spectacular movie for anyone who hasn't seen it). This one looks fantastic 👏 😊❤
I like the premise of the movie. It gives me an idea for a similar premise in the title of the project I have in mind: Mini Golf in Mogadishu. You read right, setting up a miniature golf course in Mogadishu, Somalia. Giving something constructive, nonviolent, and engaging not just for the local kids but for everyone.
The fact that so many people are not even bothering to research a real Yemen, where everyday about 20 new borns are dying due to starvation is a mind boggling.
@@trpdon4581in movie Yemen is portrayed as “arab money” country, while in fact thanks to sanctions it has highest child starvation-death rank in the world for last 7 years. Kids and newborns literally die out of hunger there…
When making a movie in a particular country, one must search well for that country, its traditions and customs, and seek help from people from this country. The movie for me is a failure, regardless of the story, because it showed Yemen in a way that is not what we are
Interesting. Could you share an example or two? I was looking for movies with fishing, and this came up. But if it couldn't get something like the local culture right, I would have little faith in everything else and pass on it.
@@compuserveuser2779i hate that they always cast an indian/pakistani actor (waleed akhtar) to play as an arab character, like bro we don’t even look the same
(00:53) We don't dress like Irish people, skirts and long socks. The Yemeni clothes are different from this! if you want to do a film that involves my country then do it the proper way.
Watchable but the posh accents were overegged it was a bit preachy and when something happened it was either ridiculous or disney'fied. The concept was good, some of the writting was pretty good and the pacing just about kept my interest. Its 6.5/10 i wouldnt rewatch it, its done its dusted.

1:06 we don't wear that the gulf countries does, just ridiculous how little effort they put
So many misconceptions about my country, Yemen, in this movie.
My thought exactly so many incorrect settings
The setting was very wrong just because it would’ve costed 10’s of millions to actually go film in Yemen but other than that what misconception?

They have no idea about our clothes and traditions
Please watch the movie to know the reason behind it. Also, that’s not Irish dressing, it’s Scottish.
