    As a native Pacific Northwesterner, Beads and Salmon Eggs are the way to go when going for Salmon dude. They LOVE them. That and dyed Shrimp. Everyone uses them because it's a guarantee always that you'll at least get yourself a bite or two.
    King Salmon are most commonly referred to as Chinook from Oregon north through Alaska unless you're a transplant or tourist 😂. Chinook, King and Blackmouth are the three names.
    For a fun(nny) fact: I used to call Kokanee Salmon as "Cocaine" Salmon because I went with the "sound it out" rule 😂. Coca-nee is the correct way to say it I found out in like... 2017. Somehow. Cocaine Salmon haha. Also for anyone who wants to know, Kokanee is landlocked Sockeye.
    My bucket list Salmon to catch is a big Male Chum Salmon though. Never known why, but there is something about them that just drives me wild thinking about catching them.

      @trippinoutdoors Год назад

      @@robhubble3992 Everyone I know as well as heard from Washington says Chinook, so that's likely a group trait of those you fish with. King is actually most often used in stores as branding for easy sales, and thus people outside of the area they most commonly are fishes for end up being known as King Salmon, aka those I refer to as transplants and tourists. Transplants will include those who are a generation or two after their parents/grandparents moved to the region for the record, as they'll be the most heavy influence on you and what you know things as.

    • @robhubble3992

    Why did you edit the part where you take the hook out? If you really caught the fish (in the mouth) you should proudly show it. Whether Alaska rules allow you to snag or not, snagging is not fishing. In other states we catch Sockeye in the mouth all the time with flies or just a piece of yarn. What's even more disgusting is sanitizing the word SNAGGING by calling it Flossing. As a retired fish pathologist I can assure you that when anadromous-foul- hooked fish, are lost/released, the chances for those fish to spawn are very slim (due to bacterial diseases). If and when you snag, you are killing your own sport. Unless of course, you are strictly a meat "fisherman", then you should just dipnet, as that would be far more honest. You should also know that whenever runs of Chinook salmon are seriously low, for reasons that we're not completely sure of, the number of Sockeye are usually high. Your fisheries biologist will verify that.

I used to fish in Campbell Creek, Campbell Lake and Jewel lake. Jewel lake we'd put a hurtin on those Trout!! Catch and cook. Right over the fire while were pulling them in! Such a good time then. We did Halibut fishing off the coast. We would go on these excursions through Ketchum Airlines and they would drop you off in the middle of absolute heaven and fly away and it was so peaceful and perfect! Good times, Good memories and Great Fishing!! I'm with Slayman on this..I'm a big "fresh lemon" guy on those filets🤌🏻
