Still a ways to go before full density in the Ganaraska. In my experience, creeks and rivers to the west of Toronto usually lag the east ones. Credit may not be anywhere close to full yet but should be getting there in a few weeks (my guess)
@FishingWithTJ planning on going for my first time, only place I've been at is Port Hope. Am I likely to catch any or is it not worth the drive, I'm from Windsor ON lol
I'd definitely wait till late September just to make sure you're there when the fish are fully running There are other tribs you should be able to try that are closer to Windsor, no?
@FishingWithTJ I'm new to salmon fishing, that's why I planned to go to Port Hope again this year, but now it's a fish sanctuary. So, I'm still looking for spots. Don't really have connections.
Port Hope should still be fine post Oct 15 if you want to try for decently fresh Coho and fresh steelhead, although numbers will not be anywhere close to the peak Chinook run Credit will be full around mid-late September. If you can avoid weekends that's best
Yes! I think upstream Ganaraska should still be fine e.g., Sylvan Glen etc. Other streams and creeks in the area should definitely be holding fish right now, e.g., Wilmot. In a couple of weeks the fish will be in most creeks / rivers around Toronto. I plan to keep posting new videos for any new creeks I check out, so stay tuned!
Awesome! Hoping to land my keeper chinook/cohi tomorrow here on the west coast. Too early but this served as a motivation
I was just on the west coast (Kitimat BC) a few weeks ago, fishing for Pink and Chum salmon! You folks have it great as far as salmon are concerned :D
I’m just curious if it actually gets fowl hooked do you break the line or do you just no pictures release quick

When were you fishing this section of the Ganaraska? This section of the river was closed as of 12am September 1st, 2024.
Saturday, August 31
Yup, was aware it was going to close Sep 1!
He said it right at the beginning of video 😊
Awesome brother!
Thanks bro :)
it makes good sushi
Sick catch
Thank you!
Chinook ? Not...
Yup Chinook :) What do you think it is?

With the new rules closing certain sections of the river to fishing, where is the best place to fish for salmon in Port Hope?

Nice fish...were you using just a fly?

I was using a Pflueger President 35 (or 30)

@FishingWithTJ thanks it's weird those tribs are always so far behind the ganny. Gonna check them out late next week if we get the rain this weekend.

Is it bait or lure ?
@sonypadamadan5948 plastic worm on a hook, so technically artificial bait?
Coloured of worm ,And its size pls

Yup
Walking with the fish, it means that the set up is not good
Depends on technique (float fishing with light leader) and how fresh the fish is
