This was the FIRST anime I ever watched on television. I was having a sleep over my buddies house and this was being run on a Marathon. Could't stop watching, I knew this was different from any other cartoon I had seen before!
When I was a kid I thought it was kind of odd that Slade was essentially an anime Spider-Man. But other than that this shows' writing still holds water.
I remember this anime on UPN 13 in 1995 and 1996, when I was 8 and 9. Where I use live in Los Angeles, California back then. Great and Rad anime, good times of my childhood memories.
When this showed up, I was busy watching a 90s rerun of Robotech. Didn't really catch it all too often, but the theme song and Tekkaman designs never left me. Made sure to get the title for future reference. Now's my chance to see it from the get go.
Man back in 95 on the wb every Saturday they would play this, sailor moon and dragon ball z. This was my favorite show outta the three for sure. I was watching anime way before this show, but tekkaman really got me into collecting anime and manga. A great show and very good memories...
I remember as a kid, I used to keep my VCR open and on record so that I could watch it when I came back after church. Oh goodness, this brings back so many memories!
My God...I had nearly given up hope! THIS is the version I grew up with! I watched the international version which FINALLY brought closure to the story, but the dub was admittedly sub-par. This one felt adult, gritty, and actually gave the show the respect it deserved.
This was my childhood. UPN had the best anime. Also how I first saw Dragon Ball (first 13 episodes) I also think they had Monster Rancher and Digimon later.
You are a God for posting these. This was not the first anime I ever saw, but it was the first one that I knew was anime. I was only ten when I first saw it on UPN, and it made my Sundays! Thank you so much for the memories, the music, and the Mecha action! POWER ON!!!!
17:05 Slate: "I have to destroy as many as I can." Ringo: "From inside the airlock?" Slate: "That would be a silly idea. I plan to fight them out in space."
6:48 to 8:06. Yeah, they're playing my song. I would literally be waiting for this song to start up in every episode. Remember the episode where Star was injured during that really intense crash sequence? They made the best use of it there.
ah okay I thought I was going crazy. I was sure there was an English intro but the DVD is the "international" version which just reuses the original japanese intro. Sucked when they stopped half way through. Though my local station had been shifting the air time around so much that it was hard to keep track of to begin with.
Saw this when I was a teenager. Bought the japanese subbed and english dubbed versions. Never could find this specific dub, so I had to be satisfied with my really low quality english vhs conversions. At last... at long last! mwahaha...ahahah...AHAHAHAHAHAA! *cough cough* Yes well. You sir, should be sainted for posting this. I thank you.
I laugh at how ridiculously cheesy american opening for this series given it's serious atmosphere and heavy violence, yet I bow in respect of this amazing, terrific and perfect masterpiece of a theme song.
Firstly there is the Teknoman Blade, his evil twin brother Saber, their eldest brother is the Evil Lord Darkon, even Blade's sister Shara, is a Tekno-Warrior called Rapier, there is also Dagger, Lance, Axe & Sword, their entire family were turned into teknomen and teknowoman, by the invading Venomoid Aliens, during a deep space exploration mission on their ship called the Argos, whilst exploring the outer rings of Saturn. Blade's family and their ship crew were captured and transformed by the Venomoid Aliens to assist in the takeover of Earth. They are endowed with impenetrable armor, super-human strength, and quantum energy weapons. Blade, unlike the others, fights to defend Earth and for the most part, is free of the brainwashing influence which the Venomoid Aliens imposed over their captives to make them subservient. Beginning the process of turning them into Teknomen, all of the crew aboard the ship are put into Venomoid Alien Teknopods, though only the most ideal humans could become Teknomen. While this occurred, the Argos was slowly being assimilated into the Venomoid Alien spacecraft. Over time, Blade's father was rejected by the process and uses what little time he had left to free one member of his family; Blade, who was the only one still not brainwashed by the Aliens. It is through the crew members of the Argos that the Aliens learn of the existence of the planet Earth and thus planned their invasion. Blade's father helps him into an escape pod before activating the Argos' self destruct sequence, he casts Blade off into space telling him that the fate of the Earth rests in his hands. The explosion caused the Venomoid Alien spacecraft to crash land on the dark side of the Moon. Blade travels back to Earth for six months, in the confines of his tiny pod, alone with his thoughts. By the time he arrives, the Earth is already under heavy attack from the Venomoid Aliens. Fueled by his hatred for them, Blade bursts free from his pod and begins to attack them. The attack draws the attention of The Evil Lord Darkon who sends Dagger to stop him. And so begins their battle for Earth
Is there 720 or higher res version available. About 5 years ago used my directorial skills to condense the series into 6 1 hour episodes and removed the continuity errors, tied up the first half of the series to focus more on the character development and added in the missing content from the Japanese versions. It was truely excellent and I wish to recreate it and release to all for free on RUclips. If ANYONE can help me get my hands on the HD versions it would be great but the Boxsets have a glitchy first disk.... Any help is appreciated!
This upcoming comment is for my fellow nerds😁... Gunner was a much weaker teknoman than Slade or Saber...maybe even weaker than the other ones. He really should’ve waited for Saber and the others to emerge from their teknopods before confronting Slade. He obviously couldn’t take him by himself.
@chevyhs - l watched the whole series like 100 times already and it was the same characters voices too, l didn't care too much that the intro was different, but why did they change Slade's name to Blade?
My understanding is that the UPN dub came first but the International version that came second was less censored. Since this version would have more scenes they needed to have the actors dub new lines however since they did not go Union for the voice actors they replaced Bob Bergan and Michael McConnohie (Bob mentioned he does not voice non-union roles at an earlier convention). Due to this they got other actors as replacements. If one compares the dubs one will notice that there are some scenes did not need to be redubbed and are identical since they did not need to do a retake. As for the Slade vs Blade naming I've heard theories over the years that it was perhaps them sidestepping Marvel's Blade character name and not wanting to chance any problems.
If you were ever in this era, you had an amazing childhood
Facts
TEKNO POOOOWER
Yes bro, we undoubtedly had an amazing one with these masterpieces....not like today!
@@thunderboltproductionsshpk this is why we Love Saban Entertainment, the Company who was the No.1 in Making Kids Fun.
I was born in Jan 1990.
the fact that this is specifically the UPN dub is amazing. childhood.
It took me 25 years but I finally found this show again. I was too small to remember the name
Same
same, I used to have vivid imagination sessions of adventures of teknoman in the shower as a kid.
Same! All I remembered was like "spider crabs in space", but still somehow could not find it again...
This was the FIRST anime I ever watched on television. I was having a sleep over my buddies house and this was being run on a Marathon. Could't stop watching, I knew this was different from any other cartoon I had seen before!
Same! :D Except I was confined to my home cause I had the chickenpox. This was the one that kick-started my fall into the anime abyss..
My first anime was Saint Seiya. Then this cartoon.
YOU TOO?? this show turned me on to anime. it was so bleak and so emotionally affecting.
FORREALLLL
Same! It taught me cartoons weren't just BS luny tunes.. never liked that stuff
It is surprising how well this show is actually written. Still watch it every few years
Me too
When I was a kid I thought it was kind of odd that Slade was essentially an anime Spider-Man. But other than that this shows' writing still holds water.
This was the first show of my life where I paid attention to the "Music By" credits.
Finding this Gem just now, can't believe they had such good directional audio mixes back then too.
I remember this anime on UPN 13 in 1995 and 1996, when I was 8 and 9.
Where I use live in Los Angeles, California back then.
Great and Rad anime, good times of my childhood memories.
Sweet. In 1995 and 1996, I was 5 and 6. 🙂👍
same here on UPN 13 back in LA as a kid.
Same here on UPN 57 back in Reading P.A. as a kid
When this showed up, I was busy watching a 90s rerun of Robotech. Didn't really catch it all too often, but the theme song and Tekkaman designs never left me. Made sure to get the title for future reference. Now's my chance to see it from the get go.
This is exactly how I remember it!!

Awesome!
I remember as a kid, I used to keep my VCR open and on record so that I could watch it when I came back after church. Oh goodness, this brings back so many memories!
That's amazing. Thank you for sharing the story. I always like to hear everyone's stories like yours because my childhood in the 90s was amazing.
My God...I had nearly given up hope! THIS is the version I grew up with! I watched the international version which FINALLY brought closure to the story, but the dub was admittedly sub-par. This one felt adult, gritty, and actually gave the show the respect it deserved.
I grew up with the Blade release. David A. Thomas voiced Blade, and Kerrigan Mahan voiced Ringo. This version seems off to me lol
Jason W yep, me too. Awesome voices that suited their characters perfectly.
As a kid, every Sunday wake up early to watch this show before church, I miss those days.
We all want the cool UPN days.
I would watch Nick Arcade and then this on UPN, if I remember correctly, haha.
This was my childhood. UPN had the best anime. Also how I first saw Dragon Ball (first 13 episodes) I also think they had Monster Rancher and Digimon later.
Teknoman, Exo Squad, Sky Surfers etc. ah good memories
i miss the 90s.
Fox kids had Dragon Ball
WB kids had DragonBall Z
But UPN had *TEKNOMAN*
I grew up watching this version it is a shame they stopped half way through. Thank you for uploading it.
watch the subtitled version they completed that one.
I knew it!! I remember watching this and the it abruptly ended. I always wondered why they stopped half way.
@@datboijj Same. It was like what the heck happened. But at least the US Dub Version on DVD managed to finished the series the right way.
Gawd, this was the 1st anime I ever seriously watched. I remember getting up early on saturdays to see what happened next
This is awesome, I've been looking everywhere for this! Freaking Saturday morning cartoons!
Man. Soooo good
Been looking for full EPs for years . Finally!!!!
We can be heroes.
This Christmas I want impenetrable armor, quantum energy weapons, and superhuman powers.
Finally someone has uploaded the best version...
Tekkaman blade had me soooooo hype as a kid.
I found the holy grail!!!!! I can finally watch this awesome show again. Childhood...check! I love Blade/Slade.
Cool
This was also one of UPN's first children's programming they aired when UPN launched its own children's programming.
I believe it was since I was little.
I vaguely remember this show from when I was a kid. I should definitely rewatch it I remember it being really cool.
God, I remember this... The world was young and so was I... Just the theme alone... got my blood pumping...
I have all three dvd of teknoman.theme song is awesome
I Really Love Watching Teknoman
You are a God for posting these. This was not the first anime I ever saw, but it was the first one that I knew was anime. I was only ten when I first saw it on UPN, and it made my Sundays! Thank you so much for the memories, the music, and the Mecha action! POWER ON!!!!
Lord Jesus Christ is the only existing God as we all will find out on judgement day.
Indeed! If you like seeing the cool times. Check out some toy commercials on my channel like Ronin Warriors and such. More to come.
amazing! from my childhood :) thanks for the upload and the exact opening i used to hear
God this show is lit. I remember watching it as a kid in the 90's but I have a new found appreciation for the demented story and hectic dance beats.
Born in May 14th 1990 and one of my childhood back from Fox Kids...TEKNO POWER!😎

Slate: "I have to destroy as many as I can."
Ringo: "From inside the airlock?"
Slate: "That would be a silly idea. I plan to fight them out in space."
His name was "blade' in the version I watched in Australia
Coming from someone that love anime this was one of the best dialogue, storyline and yes Slade ;D
6:48 to 8:06. Yeah, they're playing my song. I would literally be waiting for this song to start up in every episode.
Remember the episode where Star was injured during that really intense crash sequence?
They made the best use of it there.
I remember waking up 5 AM to watch this on Fresno TV. When I moved to the Midwest, never saw it again
I’ve always wondered which channel I saw this on. I knew it wasn’t Cartoon Network. This explains it.
Cartoon Network didn’t air Anime until 1997 after The UPN dub ended when Toonami rolled around.
Did I mention I am a kid at heart and still love cartoon anime. Also I love the music to this show. Music for creativity. :D
ah okay I thought I was going crazy. I was sure there was an English intro but the DVD is the "international" version which just reuses the original japanese intro. Sucked when they stopped half way through. Though my local station had been shifting the air time around so much that it was hard to keep track of to begin with.
TEKNOPOWER!!!!!
Wish they added more of this content. Dialogue was well liked!
Other then speed racer this was my first anime
The theme song was my life anime

I loved this on fox kids. Watched it religiously
Anton Chigurh we had access to Fox kids on Sky TV in the UK that’s where I saw it.
Anton Chigurh I think we got it a bit later than you guys. It was on weekdays at 18:30 right after the animated X-men series. Best hour ever!!!
Last time I checked, it never aired on Fox in the United States, it aired on UPN in it's first year along with Space Strikers.
Max Payne I guess this was just in the UK then
Cool
And here I thought his name was blade. Is my life a lie 😅
I don't know how you escaped from the tekno system....But there's NO ESCAPE from me!
I laugh at how ridiculously cheesy american opening for this series given it's serious atmosphere and heavy violence, yet I bow in respect of this amazing, terrific and perfect masterpiece of a theme song.
Fun fact, Paul Schrier who played Bulk from power rangers voices Teknoman
He voiced Saber. Blade' s twin brother.
The voices of blade Ringo and dagger are different to the international but this one seems to have better graphics
TEKNO RANG!!!
FIRE LANCE!!!
This dub seems better than the other english dub.
+eshaw2115 Agreed. Some of the scenes were better edited as well.
I thought this was the English version I was looking for but clearly not, too bad :C

What an awesome and welcomed summary of the plot, there is a lot I forgot over the years but I still remember the key plot points.
Thank you!
This, gigantor and samurai pizza cats were the only anime on uk cable at one point
عمري 45 سنه ومازلت اتفرج في هذا الانمي ولم انساه ابدا
Sundays were fun
Is that Leonard Nimoy voicing the Commander?
gosh I miss the 80s cartoon
They're attacking the space ring.
I have to stop them!

Live action movie would be perfect for this incredible Anime show. Wake up Hollywood.
6:47.
Can you name how many cartoons that sound effect is from?
I think every single show with "lasers" used that sound effect.
@vegitto04 - THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!
+Elmano Locko You're welcome :)
@vegitto04 - l ordered the whole Teknoman DVD TV Series at Amazon!!! Thanks again man.
+Elmano Locko I did the same thing an it was worth it. Best cartoon of my childhood
@chevyhs - l watched the whole series like 100 times already and it was the same characters voices too, l didn't care too much that the intro was different, but why did they change Slade's name to Blade?
the name was changed by Saban to Slade when they repackaged the original in Japan the original is called Tekkaman Blade
6:30 duck, you fool DUCK!
Wow UPN channel 9
Where I used to live, it's UPN 44 Bay Area Cable 12.
How can I get on vhs or dvd-r???
Try eBay.
Instead of Venimoids, we are attacked by another powerful enemy, the Coronavirus, whose origin is under dispute.
Instead of a Space RIng we just send a couple of billionaires on a 15 minute space vacation.
@vegitto04 Do you still have those UPN intermission bumpers? I wanna see them again, because I remember them from my childhood memories.
I distinctly remember him being called Blade instead of Slade. Do you know which dub version that was?
The International Release
The release I grew up watching. David A. Thomas voiced Blade, and Kerrigan Mahan voiced Ringo. This version just seems off to me, lol.
In the American Release he was Slade, in the International he was Blade, in some European versions it became Brando

I prefer Slade!
Stupid question, but where did Slade keep his Teknocrystal before his transformation aboard the Blue Earth, hmm?
All Teknomen hide it in a subspace pocket near their chest area, I think
spider crabs ....really
TEKNOMAN ERA UNA SERIE RELACIONADA CON LA MUSICA EURODANCE 90
ah censor him nakeed with a bloodied back lol
U-Uther?!
i like the other dub better !
....Oh shitty localizations.
God this was *HEAVILY* edited.
...More than I expected too....
What did they take out?
I can’t watch this one, ringo voice is different and they’re calling blade slate or slade. I’m good
Blade was my first anime crush when I was 7 . Now that I’m re watching the series I can’t believe I was that stupid 😑
These one-liners... So bad. I only watched it for the action as a kid.
The Australian version is so much better!
