D-Boy/Blade has the worst and cruelest fate of all 90s anime heroes, he literally had to kill every single one of his family and lose the very last piece of his memory to end the war. Sigh...
But him losing his memory was indeed a mercy, after everything that he endured and experienced. He regained his memory years later. In my opinion, that time he had no memory of his life…was a mercy …and a blessing? Why a blessing? It gave his subconscious time to grieve and mourn his family’s loss…and give himself the strength to heal and move forward. Hence when the memories came back, they didn’t threaten to overwhelm him and crush him under their weight.
