  • This video features the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, the 787B in 1/43 scale by Spark.
I believe that this is an early Spark Japanese exclusive release. The packaging, base, and box are unique and never seen before by Spark. The model quality and finish are spectacular and much better than the newer Hachette Model that I have. I spent over 2 years looking for a 1/43 scale Spark 787B and am thrilled to finally get one.
The Mazda 787B marked the first victory for a Japanese maker at Le Mans in 1991. It was and still is the only non-reciprocating engine design, the Wenkel rotary R26B, to win at Le Mans as well. The 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans was the only victory by this Group C prototype in the (2) years it competed.
For over 20 years, the car was displayed at the Otaru City Museum after its Le Mans victory. In 2015, the 787B was returned to Mazda Headquarters, where it remains today. I saw and heard the 767B at Sebring....It was AMAZING.
    Enjoy this video.

Great video! Insane and iconic mazda, thank you for the shootout😊, picked up the 'less extravagant' other 787b with the white and blue livery from the same year. It was very cool to see in detail ur version, cool touch of the rim maker on the front wheels and nice models on the background. Cheers

Welcome. Patito. in my opinion you may have gotten the less well known 787B but, a much rarer model then the "Renown" of which every manufacture has made and of which there are probably 10 million models on the market. I was just happy to get of which I believe is a Japanese release made by Spark. I'll check you playlist for your review.

@@markzebr6463 yes ur one is pretty unique im glad u grabbed it, its usually shops that comissions spark to release unique models from them, like raceland, boutique automoto, kidbox and so on.. while were speaking i discovered another unique 787b, look it up..White and green with an efini branding. I saw its the same number 01 chassis as ur renown winner that was converted after a few races in japan. Only exists in the hpi lineup with the back end removable, maybe one day as a spark japan limited edition.

Hope to have something up by the end of the month because there is a chance I'll have 5 more display cabinets in place, which means a chance that the full collection (will be around 1,100) can be on display, so just a general collection video. It would be quite long though, at least twice the length of the last collection video. I see you grabbed that same McLaren 720 that I got a while back - it's definitely a cool livery. This is an odd release as it's very much in a Bizarre box (a sub brand of Spark that tends to make more models of more oddball vehicles - they make the 1951 Le Monstre for example) but is not branded as Bizarre. That picture on the back is the side of the car, most likely the front to back. You can see the two wheels. They make a lot of the earlier rotary Mazda Le Mans prototypes and cars powered by Mazda engines (like the Lola T616) in the Bizarre range which might be why the box is like this. It's 100% a Bizarre base plate. Johnny Herbert won all his grand prix years after Le Mans, 2 in 1995 for Benetton and 1 later on for Stewart (of Jackie Stewart). Only know of Volker Weidler from Le Mans but Bertrand Gachot (pronounced effectively as Gash-o, French rarely if ever sounds the 't' and a 'ch' is typically more of an 'sh' sound) raced for various teams F1 teams from 1989 through the 90s, including the original Jordan in 1991, one of the best looking F1 cars of all time.

Steve. Many Thanks for my continuing European vocabulary education... I mean it with all sincerity. As we all have multi-national audiences, we try to achieve some level of proper pronunciation...In regard to the Mazda 787B, do you think that it might have been a Japanese release? The bottom of the box, take a 2nd look, says: Distributed by KOKUSAI BOEKI KAISSHA LTD. Tokyo Japan. Mazda being a Japanese company...Japanese exclusive release?
The McLaren was one of two that I almost picked up at a race...dealer wanted 95.00usd for each and I was unwilling to do so. I got it for around 65.00usd. Would love to get the matching team car.

@@markzebr6463 not sure but Spark definitely do make limited release/special release versions so it's possible. The #111 McLaren was the faster of the two by some margin in the race I believe. It's the 112 that I have, the 111 has the sides reversed. Sometimes you can get decent deals at race weekends, other times certainly not!
