Yeah they should honestly make the grapple cooldown 10 seconds, with a min of 5 seconds at max discipline, but if you use the grapple melee it goes on a much longer cooldown. I want to swing around all I want without having to worry about wasting my grenade energy.

Pair this with strand skating. Same thing as shatterskating, just with the strand dive ability. If you do it right it doesn't consume your dodge either.
that does not sound bad at all, but would lead to to many grapples in PVP. I think giving you a free 50% of the charge back would be enough but you would not be able to use the melee if you want that energy back, like u said
People are complaining about the cooldowns and rightfully so, but keep in mind Bungie is also playing it really safe cuz they don’t want another stasis situation. Later on they will most likely tweak most of the cooldowns and lower them, they probably just wanna see how strand plays out first which is also what they did with quicksilver storm. Give it time, maybe I’m being overly optimistic but I believe Bungie is just playing it cautious and will change it later

Honestly, for everything that Halo Infinite got wrong, the grapple was the one thing they got right. They literally put 90% of their dev time I think and the results were obvious. The grapple in D2 is great but they make it too much of a struggle with the grenade cooldowns when it should have been something like Icarus dash. A movement ability that you can use every 5 seconds.

You can skip the complete jump part at the beginning in Watcher of the Spire by simply pulling yourself up at the footbridge just before the first bonus crate.
They really should make grapples infinite. Or at the very least, SERIOUSLY shorten the cooldown of it. You're sacrificing a grenade slot and therefore sacrificing a damage type, so you should make it damn near unlimited. Best way to do it is to do what they did when you were first learning it. Make it like a 5 second cooldown when you are on the ground and take away the damage it does or make it almost nothing in damage. Keep grenades as they are, but change the grapple mechanics.
@dietcockadept7004 yes. But the shatter skate requires alot more set up than this for hunters. This one is simpler and easier for those who cant master skate. Well lock will always be better than this. And titans have a more consistent way to maintain the sword flying with grapple addition
I was not excited for Strand. I started coming around during the training mission where the grapple was practically infinite, but then after that when I faced the long cooldown on all of the abilities, I am again underwhelmed and will probably not use it
The hunter strand isnt super great, and I dont know about titans since I havent played it yet, but the warlock strand class is super good. Just constant chip damage for ever.

@@snottytoe6957 Are you high? The hunter super is nuts. If you hit an enemy with the tip of your kunai, you're hitting for upwards of 50k, on a roaming super. Warlocks got the best kit, but the titan and hunters aren't slouches either.
As a hunter main i hesitate to say this but i hope it work for other classes as well. Using your super gives infinite grapple on hunter and when the super ends you have two charges ready to go again. Orbs of power are silly easy to generate and t10 intellect is something a lot of people may already have. Treating strand as a kit of oh shit buttons has worked well for me, I did solo legendary blind and I'm no datto or anything actually I'm pretty crap. I hope this helps some people have a little more fun.

Serpent's Mouth: Causing damage with a grenade reduces your melee cooldown 2. Serpent's Tail: Causing damage with a melee reduces your grenade cooldown. 3. Quintessence Transfer: Replenish Super energy when you kill an enemy with a grenade. 4. Exotic: Choice of Apotheosis Veil or Obsidian mind, or was it Nothing Manacles? I can't remember. 5. Against All Odds heavy machine gun. (kills with weapon recharge grenade) You could throw abilities for DAYS.
I think this is how it should just work by default. Honestly, I think they have destroyed the game with grapple. I don't think they know how to balance it

Nearly forgot but it does need a bit more testing. I can only get it to work on slopes.
You have to do it off a slope. It also doesn't wall slam you for some reason due to the strand dive giving you falling damage immunity.
Tried to strand dive a few times from the spawn point near Nimbus, it just made me dive off the tower.

I think grapple should not cost grenade energy in pve unless you are using the grapple-melee ability, and even then cooldown should be lower
one mistake and down you go.. this needs accuracy
