- Titan™ drumsticks have been designed with a revolutionary technology to maximize durability and playability. Made from an advanced aerospace-grade carbon fiber composite, each stick is very consistent in weight and pitch while providing superior resilience. Most amazingly, all of this is accomplished without sacrificing the feel and sound produced by a wood stick. It is quite possible that these will be found to be the most durable sticks ever!
Titan™ sticks are currently available in the profile of Vic Firth's American Classic® 5B -- one of the world's most popular drumstick models! Aggressively tested by professional drummers in practice, recording and performance, these sticks last significantly longer than traditional wood models.

I hit really really hard and have been playing with the sticks for awhile now and have noticed no change in the way these sticks affect cymbals compared to wooden sticks. In the end, it's about hitting the cymbals with proper technique. If that is done, you should be fine. I definitely have!
COOP3RDRUMM3R You are so lucky to have a pair of these sticks. I really wanted to get them but was saddened when I heard that they were discontinued.
I am so sad that these are discontinued. Please bring them back! 😭😭😭
Not just yet, but we hope to expand the line eventually!
Don't knock it till you tried it :) We did some seriously aggressive testing!
can you please recontinue these sticks in both 5b and 5a variants?
could you possibly release a marching pair of these type of sticks? it would do this side of percussion a lot of good!
They retail for $50, not $100. If you're prone to breaking sticks, Titan will probably save you money in the long run because of the extreme durability. Think about it: if you break 5 pairs of sticks, that's close to $50 bucks right there! Worth giving them a try if you're a breaker.
Cool! That formulation is probably great for acoustic drummers. I've been playing a Roland double kick electronic kit at my church and in a few different Christian metal/rock bands with the SAME (yes I said SAME) pair of composite graphite Aquarian X-10 Lite sticks with red shock grips SINCE 1987! I play very hard and only had 2 pairs and in 2010 or 2011 I finally broke one, so I bought another pair on eBay in case I drop one! Best $19.95 ever spent for my drum kits!
I bought a pair of these five months ago. One of them broke just today. I'm buying another pair already.
Justin Jones holy hell you must not be using these right, or using them 24 7 dear Lord 😂😂
Justin Jones jeez I break a pair of sticks after 3 practice sessions
I've been using a pair of 5As for 8 months and they haven't cracked...
This is perfect. All I do is rimshots and all I play is heavier sticks. Thank you Vic, this literally my dream stick.
If the sticks don't take the beating that leaves 2 options:
1. The cymbals and heads will crack a lot faster - which means not only did I not save money, the sticks cost me MORE money (replacing cracked heads and cymbals more often)
2. The wrists absorb the shock! which is by far the worst option of the two because you cannot replace those...this happens to everyone who goes from small lightweight sticks to heavy ones just like the Titan.
only positive issue is the weight and pitch consistency.
Marching 'Titan' drumsticks would be awesome for drumcore activity
Right on, excited to try these out!
Cooper and Jake Garland! amazing drummers o-o haha
Just ordered ONE pair. Thanks Jeremy,
If they weren't that price, I would have bought me about 10 pairs... WHAT AM I SAYING? IT IS WORTH IT! Congrats and thank you Vic'!
I'd be more apt to try a pair if Dave Weckl said he liked them but Dave seems to be able to adjust to small issues in his signature sticks so it must be a non issue, I will have to ask him if he tried them when he comes around.
I would love some marching sticks like that!!!!
I tried carbon fiber sticks a few years ago. Wrecked a cymbal with them, despite my non-berzerk approch to playing drums. They broke after two weeks because of air pockets in the material. I tested the Titans recently, because a friend of mine bought a pair. I think of sticks made of any other material than wood as a different category of playing, like hands, fingers, etc. Absolutely not comparable with the feel of wood (aged wood sticks tend to have a better grip, the wood warms up, better shock absorption etc.), the durability of wood...With carbon, I always had a feeling of "Kinda nice, but something's off here". And then the price...A pair of 55A American Classic costs me around 15 dollars (Germany). They feel right, they sound great, they don't break if you play right. Why would I take the risk of buying a product that's just "pretty awesome" for 95 Dollars? This might be something for drummers who play rim shots exclusively...But other than that, I don't see the reason for a product like this.
It would be cool to have the option of getting any signature series stick made like this! Cool stuff Vic Firth!
Even though they are about $50 a pair, I think that I might switch if you started making 5As. Why? Because then I'd finally be able to order sticks over the internet. For me, going out to get new sticks can take quite a long time because I first have to cherry-pick the heaviest 5As that the store has. After that, I have to cherry-pick the heaviest of the ones that I just set aside. In a nutshell, I keep narrowing it down to about 2-4 pairs of the heaviest 5As that all seem to be as perfectly matched to each other as possible in terms of weight, feel, and pitch. Sometimes, I end up going to a different store if none of the sticks I find are heavy enough. I just don't like a wimpy-feeling, light 5A. It has to feel strong and solid.
Still, $50 a pair is quite steep, especially when I would want to have at LEAST one extra pair at my kit in case I drop a stick. I would also hope that they would last at least that long so that what I'm spending on sticks doesn't go up in the long run.
So yeah, I'm excited about this because it sounds to me like you have created quite a superior Carbon Fiber stick, one that would be easy to forget that it isn't Hickory.
For the record, I don't need a more durable stick at all. I'm just interested in the consistency! Like I said, I kind of hate shopping for new sticks and I would much rather just order new ones over the internet and be done with it. The Titans seem to be exactly what I have been wanting, but again, $50 a pair is quite steep.
I used to use Vic Firth constantly, until recently the sticks in my area (Yorkshire, UK) Seem to have gotten a lot softer with way more breaking points, I've even broken some pretty new sticks straight off the bat and these aren't just from one bundle pack (Which I have only bought one bundle in the past, the Aaron spears signatures, but I left them in a room which wasn't consistent in temperature and a couple of sticks warped, my bad!). My friend gave me some Pro Mark Oak sticks and I haven't looked back, which is unfortunate because I used to love Vic Firth sticks. I might give these Titans a go though, I've had carbon sticks before and never really saw the appeal but hopefully these will be different!
Check out VF artist Cliff Almond's video testimonial about Titan. He notices some color transfer on coated heads, but not very much. (link in video description)
Interesting. I can't wait to see those come out in Xtreme lengths, such as X5B, and wider diameters like SD2.
I'll need to find those! I've been breaking sticks, this is the solution! thanks vic firth
I played a pair of these sticks for about four shows, 3 sets at 1 hour 15 min per set. Mine broke. I really liked the feel but was disappointed when they broke. I was hoping they would last longer for the price. I will buy another pair as a backup to my extreme 5B sticks.
Shit dude, if you manage to break a 5b you must be a rimshot hero or a drum abuser lol
Our website! :)
Holy shit am looking at my sticks right now and i have rim shots and cymbal shots right next to the V in vic its crazy i want those sticks!!
That being said, I hope you guys come up with a wide variety of size options, I would love 2bs
Memphis Drum Shop has them in stock and ready to ship! ;)
Oh dang.. I've got to get me a pair of these bad boys.
These will be great for electronic drums.
Will Vic Firth make a Corps master version of the Titans? As an ambitious snare player, I'm very curious...
Carl, these are NOT more flexible than wood like many Carbon Fiber sticks you may have tried before. Thats what makes them so special!! :) They feel like wood! Honest!
Are you guys going to be making marching sticks made out of the Titan's material?
good job vic firth
These look like legit nice sticks. The only issue is I'd like them in a round tip, rather than the teardrop. Other than that, I could buy them....
would love these with the Jojo Mayer design. That would be killer!
that's good to hear!
I love Vic Firth sticks, and I love the idea of these sticks. My only thing is that for some reason I can't stand playing black sticks. If you guys could make a pair of these that look like wood sticks, I'd buy them in a heart beat! Price wouldn't be a factor at that point.
Aaron Fisher
Ah, c'mon. You know you love black sticks & all-black full-finger drumming gloves.
I know these are wooden and hence natural products. But how about making a light/medium/heavy distinction (you weigh and label them anyways...), which would perfectly fit the three modes as seen in the graph. Would be cool if you could elaborate a bit about inter-pair weight differences.
Don't forget the 1As too!!
I really would like to see and hear videos of your different sticks and comparisons- I tried to find some but are very few. Right now I use Thomas Lang`s sig sticks, also tried and used 2B, Rock and Metal.
I'm looking forward to buy a pair but, I'd like more a 7A pair:D At least 5A haha but I'm amazed about the tests You made.
Had these since christmas 2013 and started playing them about Beginning of January. Still not even close to breaking. I have broken even a couple heads that are newer before these broke.
Interesting concept. Any chance VF will produce 5A versions for my smaller hands?
I still lke ahead for many reasons they are fast, durable, better rebound, no vibration, realy cool
I changed brand from vic to wincent because of the bad durability but I'm definitely going to try these out
Carbon fiber snare drum hoop. Id buy one.
They already got em.
Ming drums.
www.mingdrum.com/index.php
I would love to try them on a 1A size.
Question settled, then 😏 thanks for the feedback!
Been trying to get a pair of these sticks since you mentioned them at NAMM. Still no idea on where to get them. :)
I changed to pro mark because durability, now I really want to check this titan
COOP3RDRUMM3R's comment below says it all!
How does the grip feel? I would imagine they'd be a touch slippery demanding a firmer grip. Hope I am wrong. Would love to try these.
I like them so far
Looking at the yellow samples on the graph: Isn't it a bit extreme, that with two pairs of wooden sticks I could get up to 35% (taking a 50gramm and 67.5gramm pair) difference among 2 pairs of the SAME model? With VicFirth it is nice that you don't need to pair sticks anymore, but I still have to take a kitchen scale to my drum shop to pair the pairs. Are 12packs pair-matched as well?
Porque ya no se venden???
He buscando por todas partes y ni por la tienda oficial las venden ...
Cool product ! But the heavier weight is a turn of.,cant they be made a bit hollow in the center for weight relife?
How long they are? I like drumsticks that are long because is more comfortable for me.
Carbon fiber is a really light but durable compound. I don't think there should be any cymbal problems.
Hey!! you guys bang with this drumsticks!! How can i try a pair of this Titans?? can't wait to get a pair, i'm in Colombia, help!!
Will they come in extreme length and nylon tips?
I am looking for a lighter stick than 5B, or even 7A. Anything made of wood lighter than 7A tends to break very quickly. Do Vic Firth have anything likes these Titan sticks which are even smaller or thinner than 7A?
Finally, they developed the perfect stick for people with a lack of technique.
Thank you, Musician's Friend is still scratching their head. ;)
Carbon fiber is more flexible (that's a part of way the are so durable) then wood so they absorb the shock and can sometimes even feel softer.
Will they be available in a bigger size? Like 3A or 2B
I'm a rimshot player is these sticks can last long with constant rimshots I'll buy them for sure and with 5B...
I like to play on the rim *grins*
What Happened with this Sricks?? i cant find them in any store, can anyone tell me where??
Discontinued
Carbon fiber sticks
you spend like 60 quid on one pair of these that last for a good few years or you spend 100 quid on like 30 pairs of wood sticks. (exaggeration FYI)
Do they absorb shock as well as hickory?
i prefer the vic firth sd1 general sticks those are what i use and they are good for most intermediate percussionists
MAKE MARCHING TITANS
will there be a 5a version
I would also love to know the effect on cymbals.
Just to be a pain.. Would you ever do these as marching sticks? :)
Why did VF discontinue the oak shoguns.
need these ina 2b
68 Euro for a pair on the site where I get my drum gear, not sure if I'd spend that much on one pair of sticks.
Is there only a 5B option by the way?
VeniVidiVicious Yep. Just 5B for now.
Cool, thanks for the reply.
+Vic Firth IM 10 I Broke MY LAST PAIR OF TITAN IN 4 MONTHS CAN YOU GIVE ME A PAIR
Damian Panteon
No. If you are hitting so hard, then that is your fault. You're not an Endorser, so they will not give you anything for free, especially if you yell.. Deal with it.
Ich Und Nicht Du I was not hitting hard.i want my fucking refund.there goes a waste of 60$
Will these leave black marks on cymbals? (Yes I care alot about the looks of my cymbals)
I'M FINDING WITH VIC FIRTH STICKS NOW COMPARED 2 30 YEARS AGO IS THERE'S JUST 2 DAM MANY DIFFERENT STICKS 2 CHOOSE FROM !! I PLAY THE VF AMERICAN CLASSIC ROCK 16.5" WITH THE BIGGEST PLASTIC TIPS I EVER SAW AND JUST CANT FIND A SET OF THESE ANY WHERE !! ANY HELP OUT THERE IN FINDING THESE ??
carbosticks have been around for years
Ahead drumsticks are better as they have more sizes available than just 5b, they also feel a lot better and last longer
The fact that the taper still wears makes more durable sticks (not breaking from rimshots) kinda useless in my opinion. You still wanna get a new stick after a few days because the weight is gonna be off from the wear on the taper. Also 50$ is 4-5 pairs of wood sticks if it was half might actually consider making the switch.
Still know some people playing die-cast and going through pairs of sticks by the song. So their definitely a market and Vic making some people really happy.
they should make marching sticks with that material
Carbon fiber should soak up more of the impact than say Ahead sticks, but yes, you're right.
They need to make Titan 5A
i want it very much
Are they made of Titanium?
They retail for $50 @calvometal
Is there a 5A model?
AWESOME!!! I NEED EXTREME 8D
SOLD
Will these do any damage to my electronic kit??
If you're playing electric don't waste you're money on these wood has a better feel and they won't break on electric these are mainly designed not to break
What about about a 7A model?
Make 2B Titan ;D Please.
need these in 5A, 5B is way too heavy for me.
Please make 5A
what about them?
Open letter to Vic Firth: I do not see these on the website so I assume they are discontinued. My suggestion is make another go of it and make refinements. An unpleasant reality is upon us: trees are getting harder to source and the logs offer limited usable material to make the dowels strong enough for quality wood sticks. The other reality is that wood sticks are getting more expensive because of this. It is becoming more common to see a pair of regular 5As or 5Bs selling for around 15 USD. That's expensive. There needs to be some thought put into a wood alternative and I'm not talking about the maximum durability market. If you ask me, that whole approach is a farce. The synthetics only need to be marginally more durable than wood. As far as the "never want sticks to wear out" players are concerned, let them have the Ahead sticks. Those players do not play with finesse anyway so they already have their product. I want to see a synthetic stick that is sustainable, hopefully recyclable, consistent, sounds good, useful at various dynamics, absorbs shock, balances well and can be used for multiple styles of music. The source and cost issues I mentioned will eventually force you to do so regardless if you want to or not. You might as well get ahead of the game and come up with a serious plan. Vic Firth recently lost their longtime endorser Billy Cobham to a synthetic stick company. Virgil Donati is playing them as well so there is progress with synthetic stick materials being useful to more dynamic players. Vic should approach this project as a serious long term solution rather than a novelty product. With climate change accelerating every year, we need to let trees live to provide oxygen and shade. It is irresponsible to keep investing in unsustainable logging. Thank you for reading
