This little boy had his whole life , 😢
Safe travels Lamont... thank you for always telling your stories with so much Heart ❤
Well said
RIP dearest Tim, so sorry what happened to you, but your safe now with the angels that greeted you when you left this world , God Bless You🥀🥀🥀
Such a lovely boy, so glad he was not buried near his horrid father. Drive safe, Lamont.
I'm glad that NOBODY talked to him while on death row. Completely shunned (as it should have been)
RIP Timothy 🙏
I bet he had a few people spit in his lunch 😊
@Donnell0303 I didn’t mean the inmates I meant the staff.
@Donnell0303 it’s a thing that happens more than you think.
not only did they not talk to him they actually tried to get at this murderer he had to be isolated

Especially given there's no flowers and whatnot, not only timothy O'Bryan died but if it wasn't for Lamont, who remembers him ? Alone in death and forgotten 🙄
Yep Catherine these the stories that break your heart as growing up in the seventies we never knew the stories so shout out to you tube that cover these stories as we get older
Still unbelievable how any father could do such a thing to his own child. God bless and RIP Timothy.
I can't wrap this around my head how anybody can hurt or kill a child. I have a 20 year young daughter. She is my life. She is the reason I get up every morning and go to work. I'm so blessed to have her. RIP Timothy. You are in God's loving arms.
Same!! My son is 15 and I still hug, kiss and grab my son cheeks and he hates it . Oh well! I’m obsessed with my son 🤦🏾♀️
The candy man, this was such a horrible case. How can you do this to your children. Your children should be priceless.
Exactly, to bad some people care more for other things including money, than their children....
My son is my whole entire world! It really saddens and angers me when someone harms a child or kill them! They are innocent! They don't deserve that type of treatment or fate! My son will be 13 in September! This really hurts even more that the poor child didn't even get the chance to live life to the fullest! I hope his evil monstrous dad will burn in Hell. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Poor child was so excited and looking forward to Halloween! His dad is a damn cruel p.o.s. Demon! Damn monster poisoned him man... freaking sick and very disgusting! 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Poor little child.
You are a great story teller, Lamont. I love your nitty gritty presentations. When I need something to watch, you are one of the best choices.😊
They were to this creep. $50,000 worth of priceless-glad he croaked too.
It is amazing how you travel, to the locations to bring a face to the story. True dedication. Great video as always.
New sub to ur channel looks cool just like lamonts
Thank you.
Lamont is the best !
Yes he is
Lord God, how can anyone kill your own child. They’re so innocent they take whatever you give them to take. I never heard of this story. Thank you Lamont. You’re right, he’s a monster. take care and be safe. Rest in peace little angel.
Some people are simply evil! Thank you Lamont for your skill and respect for all the victims. You are awesome. 👍
It's a miracle that none of the other children ate their pixie stix. Rest in peace little guy. 🙏 💔🤍💙
I remember this too. I think his mother is still living. I cannot image how she felt when this happened.
You are going to be one of the most recognized youtubers out there within a year Lamont, that's how good you connect with the average everyday person
My Dad was a kid back then a little older than the little boy. He said after that the next years of Halloween were never the same. There was always a lot of caution after that.
i was a child when this happened and you are right it stayed with everyone , my candy was always checked i checked my kids candy and i still check for my grandkids candy . halloween was never the same after this.
Love the way you tell stories that actually happened . I bet you could write books with short stories! I would get it!

Only you Lamont can speak for these young victims with the gentleness and caring you project. You should be the next Paul Harvey.
Hi, Lamont! Sadly, these days with vehicle accidents, school shootings, freak accidents, various Illnesses/Diseases...and murder, Life Insurance has become VERY necessary for children these days. Funerals for children are just as expensive as for Adults. We don't like to think about Mortality: our parents, kids, grandkids, or ourselves...even our pets, but it is crucial, so the ones left behind are not burdened with Final Expenses. Of course, I'm NOT talking about parents who kill their children for money.
Yeah my mom and grandma got life insurance for me because I was very sickly as a child. I've almost died 3 times from my illness, one of those times was when I was 12. Life insurance is very necessary regardless of age. Anything can happen. Being a kid doesn't make you immune to death.
We learned the hard way when my oldest son died from bone cancer at 25, young adults should get life insurance as well
@@juneannbrusie2042 I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you 🙏.
Do you sell insurance?
Exactly
The most hated man on death row. The other death row inmates wrote and signed a letter to the governor asking him to deny clemency to that guy. Only time it’s ever happened
My birthday is on Halloween. I was in the 6th grade at Southmore Intermediate at the time. When the Pasadena police went to Southmore hospital, they were already suspicious of the dad because of the way he was acting. What struck me as odd is that nobody ever gave out giant pixie stix. That would have been expensive. Occasionally, you would get small pixie stix in your Halloween bag.
That little boy was the same age as my husband and my husband just became a grandfather. All that life stolen from him by the one person who was supposed to protect him. So awful!
This is horrible. Your children trust you more than anyone else. I can't ever image Doing this to my child or any child. Thanks Lamont~~~~~~Sherry
Yes Lamont thank for honoring the innocent victims! You will receive many Blessings for doing what you’re doing! Be Safe in your travels Lamont! 🌺
This is a sad one Lamont but you really tell the story well. Your feeling for this boy shines through just as strongly as your anger at that man. I
RIP sweet Timothy.💙💐🙏🏻And thank you, Lamont, for another beautifully presented video. Be safe.🤍
Lamont, there was another Candyman in the Houston area at the time named Dean Coryll. That would be an excellent true crime story to examine but it is “incredibly” disturbing.
Very tragic. How can a parent do this to his own son. RIP Timothy
+Phoenix J NYC. Melbourne, Australia. Me too, I am asking the same question. Unfortunately this thing happens and around the world. So sad.
@@faizalhossen2289 it is very sad
😢 thank you for covering this story. 🙏 I wasn't aware of it. Such a tragedy.
Actually Lamont, The Gerber baby food co has been sponsoring life insurance for children that can be kept up even into adulthood. So it’s not as rare as you think…🤷♂️
I had it on my daughter until she was 30 years old.
The general rule is that you don't insure anyone that doesn't provide financial support i.e. a paycheck. That's what decent people do.
@@ralphalvarez5465 What about a wife or husband ? or someone who's not able to "Provide a Paycheck"? Not all family's have both parents working. If you're tasked with the sudden death of a child without thousands of dollars at hand,, your only option is to borrow from banks, or finance . If you can provide it you should. People look at Life Ins. as inheritance now rather than help.
@@ralphalvarez5465 that’s an odd way to look at it…
@@ralphalvarez5465 responsible people do have life insurance on their children and spouses. Not everyone can afford the insurance, but it is wise to have it
You told that story so well Lamont, it made me angry then I cried then I I found myself smiling at some of your remarks, thank you so much for these stories and keeping these little ones alive in our minds , I was 8 when this happened
R.I.P to those kids that passed
That's so sad, I lived the 70s and we never had to worry bout these things, I'm sure glad he was found out
I got the Gerber life insurance policy on my daughter when she was born. They gave me the information at the hospital. I thought it was normal. My parents had policies on all 9 of us children. They never tried to off any of us though. I guess they figured we were reckless enough to do ourselves.😄
I had the same thing happen too. I still have the policy for my youngest son 26 years later. I assumed it was normal to get life insurance for your kids.
I have life insurance on my son who will be 13 in September! It's best to have it while they're young! I've had us both covered for awhile now!
My mom got insurance on us as soon as we were born. We have insurance on my kids too. Lamont said it's weird, but I think it's just being responsible. AND the policies are super cheap when you get them at birth. We're all adults now and still have those policies.
We have life insurance on all our kids but not until we were co-signers on their student loans. That was our financial advisor’s advice.
@@BacktheBlue60 It's very normal to have life insurance on your children. This guy is wrong for saying it's not normal.
We still check kids' candy at Halloween....I just never knew why this became a thing. Thank you for telling his son's story. RIP to that little boy. How horrifying.
Now I know why my mom went through my candy on Halloween..... thank you Lamont. Much respect. God rest the little boy.
I read newspaper reports of this story at the time it happened and it was written that on Sunday night after his son died but before he was arrested, he led his church service in a heartfelt choir hymn. There was not a dry eye in the house. I think that I read that he was a pharmacist. He was known as the ‘candy man’.
It was at Second Baptist Pasadena. I knew him. I grew up in that church. He didn’t lead a hymn that night. He sang a solo. Before he sang he told the congregation that there was nothing more tragic that could have happened to him and his wife than losing their son. This man was a deacon and drove a church bus on Sundays. I was 12 years old when Tim died. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Looks like the Siouxsie and the Banshees song _Candyman_ was written after this story.(or maybe not, I'm not sure).
Rest in peace Timothy. Thank you for including archival photos of these places.
What helps my heart is when I think of all the joy kids are feeling with the Lord in heaven and they can't be harmed ever again.
@ victoryforever1915 -That's right!!!!
Your content is so interesting and strangely soothing with the walk and your voice. I feel so sorry for Timothy. Rip
Good evening, Lamont. Sad story to hear. You did a great job putting this story together.
That poor baby. Thank you for this story, Lamont. This has always been one of the worst, because it was his own father.
Hi, Lamont. I lived in Houston when this happened and remembered this. After this, parents wouldn't allow their kids to have pixie sticks, candy apples, popcorn balls, anything that wasn't commercially wrapped and sealed tight so the candy companies actually benefited from O'Bryan's deeds. During the execution debate, nany anti-DP forces went to bat for O'Bryan saying the electric chair was "cruel and unusual" punishment and then lethal injection was "cruel and unusual" punishment. At one point the sentencing judge scheduled his execution for October 31st - Halloween. But the ACLU got involved, objecting that executing him on the anniversary of the murder was "cruel and unusual" punishment. It got moved again to another day.
Dang it! I keep missing out on Lamont when he’s in Texas. I’m in Dallas. But I don’t mind driving out to meet him!
Lamont I think your channel is the best. If your ever doing a story in Southern Oregon my husband and I would love to meet up with you and show you our community. Thank you for what you do.
Thank you Lamont for telling the story about this childs demise I cant imagine how any parent could murder their own! I just hope he's resting in peace I know his father wont be. Love from the UK x
RIP sweet Timothy, thanks Lamont for bringing this case to our attention, this poor boy had his whole life ahead, but a greedy selfish father, who was only interested in money, took this poor boys life.🙏🙏🙏
I was 11 when this happened & lived fairly close, in league city. I remember my parents checking our candy & I wasn't allowed pixie stix, anymore. So sad. Thanks for covering the story.
Definitely same here in the UK we were always told to look out for razor blades
I definitely got life insurance on everyone in my house including both of my Children how is it not normal
We also have life insurance on our kids as well as ourselves. I guess he was just saying most people don't get it for nefarious reasons.
@@rebeccagreen2310 great point Ty 🤎
Yeah my ex & I had life insurance for our boy/girl twins starting at 2 months old. Some policies build cash value over the years and the kids can draw out the cash value later in life to help pay for a car or college. My parents had 2 policies on me when I was a kid. I was able to cash one in to help pay for my fertility treatments when I was 25 years old.
I had life insurance on everyone in my home years ago including my daughter!
Absolutely heartbreaking. I adore my children. I can’t imagine even thinking of it let alone doing it. I have 31 year old triplets that I still try to baby. I’m still very protective like a mom Lion.
Thank-you for all your hard work on getting these stories out to us! Your the best Lamont! Safe travels big guy! I say a prayer for you as you travel. 🙏 May God Bless You absolutely!
Too bad grandma wasn't buried next to him....She obviously never forgave him for killing her grandchild...His father must not have been a good man either....Stay away from narcissists Libras....I learned it the hard way...Take my advice and save yourself the anguish and pain...May this little angel rest in the loving arms of the Lord and his grandmother....Thank you for the sad story, Lamont...Nobody could have told it with as much love and compassion... Many blessings to you and yours....
Actually, life insurance for children is common. Do you remember the old ad for Gerber life insurance? That has been around for years and years. It is just one of many. My parents had small policies for myself and siblings.(my parents were lower middle-class)They gave us the policy when we left home. Possibly it is more common in certain areas of the country, but it is more common than you think.
Hey Lamont 💯👋🏾 great video
Thanks Lamont. Love ur videos. Now I remember my Mom would take us Trick or Treating but in the same building in NY where We lived, heard lots of Halloween candy stories back then in the 60s too 😔.
what a sad story of this young man .RIP Timothy ...how his father end up dead ?? in prison or put to death by the state ? Thanks Lamont to let the story of those victims comes out xx
executed
@yvonnemoujalli6904 He was tried convicted and sentenced to death yeah they executed him I am sure Lamont mentions it in the video protestors were out there anti death penalty on one side Pro on the other and when they were executing him the pro death penalty side held up signs that said trick or treat and they were hollering
I have the same question if someone can answer…
O'Bryan was executed by lethal injection by the state in 1984. They were going to put him to death sooner but the death date was postponed.
Lethal injection in 1984 at the Huntsville Penitentiary.
I don’t remember this particular story but i do remember the fear we had in the 80s when it came to Halloween candy. My parents checked EVERY SINGLE PIECE. I know you can’t find everything, particularly when it comes to drugs or poisoning, but I do remember there being an incident with razor blades being put into the candy.
Yep I've heard of this guy. He is truly the guy that ruined Halloween. This is the only known case of a child getting poisoned by Halloween candy and it wasn't really even a true stranger vs child.
I've heard this story a few times now, but your version is my favorite (not that I "like" this story). It feels like you put a lot of energy and respect into your videos, if that makes sense. You just feel so genuine, and you're also good at story telling. You bring the story to life for me.
Thank you Lamont for what you do
Why Would A Man Do This To His Own Son, During The Kids Happiest Time?🤔💔😪😡
Watch the video…
Pure evil and greed
For the cash!! 💵 He said he didn't want his annoying kid anymore. He can just get the money instead. 💰
Thanks for covering this sad story by walking through where this young boy lived, died and was buried. It just made it more real but I do remember this awful crime and the chilling influence it had on Halloween for years after the murder. It was a big favorite holiday for me as a kid and even as an adult I have enjoyed all the decorations, giving out candy, etc. For a while it looked like Halloween trick or treating would get cancelled but it did survive. This man did not deserve to be called a father.
I Love How Lamont Doesn’t Flaunt Any Wealth💛
Thanks for sharing the story of such a heartless man, even in the UK 🇬🇧 after this story broke i remember the following year being told no guising ( trick or treating) because parents were worried about what could happen
RIP Timothy
Terrible story
What a scum bag to do that to his son,it makes me sick how people could do something like that to your own children Bless you tim Rip😇😇😇😇
Looking forward to watching this in the morning as I’m in the uk and it’s nearly 9 o’clock here and I’m chatting to my husband.
Lol, we are watching it together, couldn’t resist.
Never worked but could pay for Insurance on his children. Shame on him.
I love this story. He had a severe gambling addiction and was in heavily in debt to a shark who gave him a deadline to pay.
Something about the story made me suspect this was the case too
Never start Habits you can't afford.... especially, bad ones!!!
You mean you love the way the story was presented by Lamont, not the story itself?
What a sick man. I remember my parents checking my candy because of this.
Thanks for another story!
Man, I’ve got to tell you that your storytelling surpasses forensic files or any crime documentaries. The way you deliver the stories and all the details that you involve with the stories makes your channel what it is. Great job!
What a sick and devastating story. Thank you for sharing. Rest in Peace, Timothy. 💛🙏
That's heartbreaking. I was 7 when this happened, and I have grandbabies in grade school what kinda special piece of crap could ever do this deserves the death penalty.
We had a case here in Spokane few years back. Father killed his son, then set house on fire. Breaks my heart and sickens me what some will do to collect insurance money
It's devistating how a parent could do such a cruel thing to a 8 year old
So close but yet so far..... truly enjoy your videos.
He would be coming up on his 57th birthday in 8 days. RIP Timothy.
I was in the army when this took place in my home town. When I got out I became a letter carrier. It was creepy delivering mail in that well to do neighborhood. Wow it has really run down. I remember all the streets were named after horses that were triple crown winners. We called them the horse race streets.
That was so heartbreaking! Killing your own kid for money! This father is definitely clinging to the fire in my book. Lamont…you keep doing what you do with this. Keep the victims stories out there, they are the ones who need to be remembered.
Love your videos keep them coming and thanks!!!!!
You are a really really good story teller.

poor baby...RIP with the angels. ......and with God.....in Heaven.
These were the killer’s last words: “What is about to transpire in a few moments is wrong! However, we as human beings do make mistakes and errors. This execution is one of those wrongs yet doesn't mean our whole system of justice is wrong. Therefore, I would forgive all who have taken part in any way in my death.” He had the audacity to utter words that showed he took no accountability for his actions.
A great story to be shared alot, thanks Lamont these are why you do this for us
