I might do a tutorial on my next Enterprise-D build, trouble is that i just forget to film some parts as i get carried away with the build, videoing and editing are not my strong points, building models is what i love doing.
I was going to do the same with Revell TOS enterprise with detachable base and lithium battery! To make it wooshble. You sir had probably the best Big D configuration! Well done!
Oh wowwwwww the pogopins on the ventral vehicle separation plane, CHEF'S KISS. and the DC coupler rod? wow. then the captain's yacht as a cover! GENIUS!!!!!!
Oh, bravo. The detail about lighting the saucer impulse engines ONLY when it is separated is music to my ears and eyes. You also did not make the nav lights flash. Fantastic. Far too many folk make them flash when they're supposed to be steady.
I've often thought they should blink and wondered why they stopped in the later ships. I personally thing they would look better blinking, but when I build this I will stay true the original.
Loving the separation ability, and I may steal your captains yacht idea for my personal build. Did you use aftermarket decals? They look more muted than stock.
The decals are standard straight out of the box, they are indeed muted compared to the original decals from 1990's, on the new set the red is dull ie not very vibrant.
Saucer separation?? That is genius the way you pulled it off, bravo! Paintwork is amazing... I'm in the middle of building one of these myself and I appreciate the red & green running lights near the aft torpedo bay. I just managed to drill 4 tiny little channels for very thin fiber optics not too long ago. Still a long way to go for me, but your build is absolutely impressive as it is inspiring.
The aztec panels look perfect. Did you use the stock decals for those or hand paint them? The other AMT builds I've been looking at have much harsher contrast, but yours is beautiful.
WOW! Such incredible work, you’ve certainly done Andrew Probert proud! She is a beauty. I very may well have to order a commission of my very own from you… either your work has earned you a new subscriber 😊
Great Job, I did mine as the Syraprise from the 3rd Season of Picard! I did a lot of weathering on the saucer added the aftermarket parts from Motion Pictures Miniatures as well. And Also Cut down for the missing hull pieces on the Syracuse's Star drive. It turned out really well, I am awful with lighting. So, I used a .05 white paint pen to simulate her lights. and bright paint for the Bussard's and nacelle grills! 🙂
Wow, that is truly inspiring work. Have one of these I’m very slowly building myself as a whole, but I want to do another build in the future like yours: having the two halves independently lit. For that one, I’d love to do it like (Picard Season 3 spoilers, if anyone still hasn’t seen it) LaForge’s restoration, when the saucer was retrieved and attached to the Syracuse, still having the dirt and scarring on the saucer and the slight panel color variations between the two ships. I’m also using similar upgrade parts on the whole ship, so looking forward to how that turns out on my build. Your looks absolutely fantastic and I hope mine looks as good.
that looks absolutly amazing. If i had not just finished the eaglemoss enterprise D, i would be putting in an order. do you do other trek models to this level too?
@@ptaylor5014 i have, ive impressed. Ive just bought the original 1:350 scale enterprise and lighting kit, im temped to send it you, but i would be heart broken if i dont do it myself.
Usually takes me about 3-4 months to build and currently i charge £1,300, i am very busy with other builds until early next year so if you want to be put onto the waiting list let me know 👍
Yes I did and they work perfectly, I also used bigger more powerful magnets in both the saucer section and battle bridge, this aids a good connection and as a backup should the plastic pin break off.
I have a question if you see this. I have some experience with model kits and was wondering what you thought the perfect scale is for star trek models. I have a voyager 1:670 model and saw that there is a enterprise E 1:650. I like the idea of having all of my starships being of the same scale and with lighting (and servos in the case of voyager) but 1/600-300 is quite insane for ships like the galaxy. Do you have. Favorite scale and brand for federation ships? Thanks!
It really depends on how much room anyone has to display their models, i would love to have all the hero ships in 1/600 scale, as for brands it really does not matter to me as i like a challenge when a kit is not perfect, having said that though the older AMT kits are the worse for inaccuracies, Revell make great quality kits at an affordable price, Polar lights make great kits but have become extortionately over priced these last few years, well here in the UK they have.
That's an awesome build! I take it that's painted and not decals for the Aztecs? I'm also wondering what part did you use for the back of the neck, that's for sure not the kits part.
Thanks James, you are correct that the Aztecs are painted on using an airbrush and masking set, there are other parts too that are aftermarket which are the back of the neck as you pointed out, the bridge module, missing windows on lower saucer, the warp nacelle bussards and blue grills, main shuttle bay, and all three impulse engines are all resin parts from "Motion picture miniatures" www.motionpictureminiatures.com/galaxyclasspartsandmasksets
I bought the original 1990’s kit off eBay for £40, still in shrink wrap! Without the shrink wrap the original kits go for £100-£150! Don’t know whether to keep it unwrapped or build it? Nice work there mate
Thanks, the kits you see for sale over 100 are wishful thinking lol, amt have just re released the kit in translucent white plastic and are selling for around 57, and they come with much better decal sheet with all the life pods too, If you are going to be lighting your model then I would buy the new kit and maybe sell your original for about 60.
that is absolutely fantastic...way to solve the "separation" issue...

very nice build but the impulse color and the bazzards should be red not orange and there are way to many windows lite
