How to Change over or replace a Radiator valve without having to drain any water from the heating system using a freezer kit and a Radclamp kit. Tools as seen on Dragons Den. If you fit a valve with a drain-off make sure the drain-off is closed. Mine came out of its bag in the open position. I didn’t notice and flooded the floor as soon as the radiator valves were opened !

I dont have an issue draining down then just pop the valve off new olive installed..... job done.

Got one of these for DIY and they're awsome, used to remove 6 radiators whilst decorating and also fitted muoltiple new TRV's. Only issue is it's easy to split the rubber shield so buy spares if you will use more than a handful of times, also worth getting other spare bits that you can find online (i bent a pinch bolt). I think my only criticism of the kit is that it's not very robust but none the less it does a good job.

I wouldn't mind having a pair a rad clamps right enough, but you're as well just bunging it by turning the valve to face you whilst off, and then turning it on til the water stops.
