The guitarist in black is Romain Axisa. I think he is brilliant. He does some great solo stuff e.g. Guitar Jam - Rainwater, Blue and 75 Beats Per Minute
You’ve hit 20k! Congrats! Bongo bong is amazing it has all kinds of stringed instruments lol (I think it’s bass, guitar and ukulele?) Also, Sweet Little Lady, the acoustic live version is great!
If you dig deep Ren's dad Michael Gill is a guitarist and producer and a huge influence on Ren. Classical guitar and more. Ren admits he is a nerd when it comes to music. Sure studded so many different genres through his dad. He also said his guitar is been through alot 😄 dings and chips on it busking. Congratulations on 20k subs 👍👍👍
I am very proud to be one of your subscribers. I was one of those who complained about your last video of I shot The Sheriff. As a non-musician I prefer Romain's guitar playing to Ren's but I take note of the opinion of a guitarist. Brighton is a famous seaside town directly south from London. That is where Ren is based although he was born in North Wales. He studied in the old Roman city of Bath and formed his first band in the nearby city of Bristol.
His Jenny and Screech trilogy is not only Killer Storytelling... but you can see his guitar progression! It was Several years between Jenny's tale and the dialysis Violets tale! I'm sure you'll see the difference! Not so much in quality as in technical showing! Make sure it's the Full version if ya do!
Luke Flegg shoots a lot of The Big Push’s busking videos; he did this one. He has also worked on some of Ren’s solo videos (Genesis Live Acoustic for example). Luke has a channel on RUclips. I definitely wouldn’t be surprised to see a documentary made about Ren’s life eventually. It would be very interesting.
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar Ren does the sound mixing for these busking videos. Here is an entertaining conversation he had with a doubter in the comments of one of The Big Push's videos when he explained the sound recording process. *_Ren: Line inputs running from each of the busking amps into a H4N recorder. Then the H4N condenser mic placed in front of the amps to capture the ambience of the street, then another iPhone mic recording the drums (just set on voice recorder), then mix all that together in post on logic with some light compression and EQ to make everything pop, and voila!_* Doubter: You can claim different all you want but there’s ZERO ambient noise from the crowd on the recording. Hmmm how’d you not have ANY of that? Some are stupid and believe you. The rest do not. *_Ren: There’s too much noise from the drums to be picked up on the mobile recording the drums and the vocals are just dynamic mics - even still, we actually play pretty bloody loud! If there was crowd noise whilst we were playing, you wouldn’t hear it in real life let alone on our microphones haha._* Doubter: Nice try. I’ve done a few dozen of mobile recordings and mixed even more that were brought to me. Your explanation isn’t going to work. *_Ren: ok, how about - it would be a lot harder to try and mime this than to just actually play it live, it’s not that difficult to play._* Doubter: Never said it was difficult to play it mimed. It’s a studio recording. You’re new. I get it. And you’re not the first nor the last to take a live shot and overdub in the studio. *_Ren: Okay you seem pretty sure of this, how about I bet you £3000? If you accept, shoot me your email, and I’ll send you the raw camera footage, you can synch up the audio to the audio which was captured on the day, and transfer the money to my paypal account, plus any extra you might want to send for wasting so much of my time. The reason I can get a decent sounding mix from a live session is because I spent a lot of time working on getting a decent sounding mix from a live session. If your live mixes aren’t sounding as good then don’t blame a band you’ve never seen play live before. Go home and work on your mixing._*
Road House Blues and Englishman In New York are so good. Romain Axisa on wild guitar is French and soooo good. Gorran Kendall on base and Glen Chambers on drums. They all write, play guitars, sing and more. Great reaction brother 🙏🙏🙏

So, another reactor commented that sometimes pitch in the UK is tuned slightly higher at 442 instead of the standard 440, which is why UK artists sometimes sound pitchy.
Nice reaction fella. Ren was interviewed last week for an upcoming podcast on Justin Hawkin's channel, (lead singer from The Darkness). 'Justin Hawkins Rides Again. Should be released soon!
If you truly want to see a song that's really different than anything else you've seen from ran watch crutch with his ex girlfriend bibi. It's the most heart wrenching singing in the end you've ever seen you'll understand what I mean period it's done in the form of a dark alternative song
You definitely need to check out the tunes "Fire" & "Bullet" from Ren's album Freckled Angels. Ren plays every instrument on both tunes. I've shuffled em both into my drum warm-up tune, not because they're particularly hard to play but because they are really really fun to play.🤘🤙✊
Thanks for Reacting to this i knew you would appreciate it, Ren is very versatile but i think his main output is Rapping, although he has a Great singing voice too, you will get Many Suggestions showing off his instrumental skills i'm sure but, The Big Push - Wade in the water / Nina simone / Trouble so hard and, The Big Push - English Man In New York live are 2 of my Favourites

r.e. the camera, as a photographer/videographer/musician, I've been trying to figure out the same thing - best guess from what I can put together is that the videographer is using a Canon, primarily due to the quality of the skin tones, as well as some of the "edge wobble" in other videos (I deal with that struggle). Either an EOS R6 or an older canon DSLR. Can't help much beyond that :)
my two cents as someone who has shot on Sony and canon - canon has nicer colors for photo and video, but Sony's video capabilities are better than canon's. Happy exploring!
Romain Axisa is the other guitarist, he’s also the one that played sack man in Money Game, he is an insane guitarist and solo artist too. You must be the first out of hundreds of reactors that I have watched that has said anything negative about Romain. 🖤
Good eye on the other dudes guitar, and for what it is worth I think it was on purpose....I've seen other clips where he adjust his guitar (down tuned?) (Maybe drop D? Couldn't tell for sure), and then played with more dissidence, like Ren in Hi Ren. So possible a choice to not be too clean?
go check out the other guitarist, Romain, his work. Or check out the Big Push Bongo Bong song. I don't think he ever claimed to be much of a stylistic lead; he definitely brings a lot to the table skills-wise, but I would agree - his lead work is not my favorite.
What did you mean by pitchy. Romain wasn't out of tune to my ears and he nailed that solo. The crowd really felt it too and that's all that matters. In this performance their differing tones complement each other to me.
It seemed that his notes were slightly sharp, as a guitar player you have intonation, my guess is that he was so into the performance he squeezes the strings pretty hard. It's not really taking anything away from him though, he is talented.
Pitchy because they are from UK. They commonly tune slightly higher than what’s standard in US/Canada. So sounding “pitchy” is more standard for British musicians. Also, Ren now lives in Brighton England, but he’s Welsh, not English.

Thank you brother!! Really appreciate the love ❤
Very very welcome! :)

I'm glad my ears aren't as good as yours. I'm happily oblivious to any pitchiness.
Bongo Bong!! The Big Push
I can second that suggestion 🎉🍷
Me three!
You might enjoy The Big Push’s English Man in New York. (Cover)

English man in New York...Big Push...the one where they are sitting on a couch
If I lived in Brighton, I'd spend so little on entertainment. I'd just head to the beach with a 6 pack to hear great music.
You and me both!

Thank you Pat! If I could just get Brighton and Bristol straight lol
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar It might help if you know that Bristol City is cockney rhyming slang for titty.

Good to see you hope you're well! Great reaction keep it up
Thanks Luke! I hope all is well on your end!
Great cover songs. Listen to the originals. Best cover mix ever. Reminds me of sublime.
I LOVE everything about Ren but if it's guitar playing you love. Another incredible artist is Tash Sultana- Blackbird 7 layers.

I agree that Ren is the more compelling guitarist.

This is also set from the War Pigs you reacting allready.❤
So good 😊
In the BTS for Sick Boi, looks like the video guy is using an Alexa (definitely Cinema camera),
Different videographer. This video is shot by Luke Flegg; Sick Boi by Samuel Perry-Falvey.
Take a look at wade in the water by the big push. Ren plays bass in this song. 😊

Watch them do Roadhouse Blues 😁

Ren's got a quirky guitar style because he's entirely self-taught
Brighton

Haha, just seen you’ve already done it 👍🏻

Wade in the water/nina simone/trouble so hard next to see him on the bass.
He plays the bass in their cover of FBS “praise you” too I think. And they have little tambos on their shoes!
Stop being so cynical!
Ren was part of the big push
