I've looked everywhere for something that could help my trumpet playing. I started two days ago and It seems like nothing else has what i'm looking for. Keep on going please!!! this is going to be the sixth instrument I know. so far, it's the easiest!! I would recommend playing the trumpet if you can't find any instruments you can play!
Jim-you're my trumpet hero! I've just bought a trumpet, having never even tried one before, but able to play others (in a fashion). Found your website & tutorials - so glad I did, they're so helpful in getting started. Dig your no nonsense, not too serious style. I hope others will read these reviews and take the time to watch your stuff. It's certainly helped me get a start, in what can be an overwhelming load of resource online. Hope you keep adding content & passing on your experience. Cheers from the UK :)
Thank you so much Jim, this exercise really worked out for me, I've been playing bass for 35 years and I always loved the trumpet sound, now I can play it without shame, LOL!!
I like you. You have a good sense of humor, you're smart, patient, knowledgeable, and a good teacher. I subbed. I started the whole horn thing off with a Harbor Freight Bugle. Then, I saw a video that said the best thing that could happen with one of those, was to make a LAMP out if it or just to hang it on the wall. I hung it on the wall. After which I found a student trumpet that had a case and the bell was squished a little, #3 valve was stuck, the mouthpiece was stuck in it and the #3 finger button was missing. The thumb-screw for the slide was missing, too. A trumpet player at church, told me where to take it. I did so and got everything but the slide thumbscrew. I have to find out what thread pattern that is and either make one or find one somewhere. I LIVED with a guitar. I loved to play music on stage and serenading table to table, till Carpal Tunnel, from too much industrial work damaged my wrists and I would loose all my grip and not be able to cord the guitar, nor pick it! I like hoe-down square dance music as well as Big Band stuff, so I started the trumpet. My Grandson bought a Trombone and left it up here at my house, so I've been dabbling in that, some. I'm a touch over 70 and just want to see if I can buzz out a tune. I thank you for showing the basics on your videos. I thank you for everyone! (You have a nice tone)
FYSA, I arrived here my own accord wanting to re-learn a trumpet warmup. And the curls (warm up) at the beginning made me laugh. Came back again (14 days later), moving to #2. Thank you.
Love your lessons. Been playing guitar for 40+ years but “trigger finger (on left hand pinky) has recently ended my abilities. Always loved hornmen and hope to get to an improvisational level ASAP. I got the ears and the theory. Just need those practical skills to move on. Thanks for this.
This is great! I'm glad someone has mentioned it takes breath to play and time for face muscles to get used to blowing in to a mouth piece. This moves at a really good pace. I'm glad you post the sheet music. I'm looking forward to improving and this is very helpful.

Thank you so much! Your tutorial is very helpful! I’m able to play 7 notes on the trumpet, except the last note! I’ll keep working on it! Thank you ☺️

picking up the trumpet after a 50 year absence, this is exactly what I need to relearn the instrument and sit in on community band practice
Same...after a 22 year break and really wanting to play in the community band again.
