Been legally blind for 42 years since birth. Cold hard truth is it sucks and no life occurence ( other than a cure) will ever make it better or easier. But...in life we always have 2 choices. Let your demons beat you. Or send said demons back to the pit they came from and you do that by choosing to live and choosing to win! How do you win in life? Took me idk how many years to figure it out but the answer is so damn simple its insane. How do you win? You simply refise to give up. It's literally that easy! Sounds like an oversimplification I know. But often in life its the simplest of answers that are right in front of our face that are the right answers. You wanna win at whatever you do? Do....not...give...up! Period. And remember this my blind brothers and sisters. We were given these burdens because the Universe knew we could handle them. The burdens were given to us to save others who couldn't handle it and would've otherwise been crushed by the weight of it all. Doesn't mean we are better than normal people. No. It just means that what we needed from the Universe we were given. The Gods don't hate us. They are not punishing us. Rmemebr this quote. I believe I first heard it from Jim Carrey of all people. Lol love Jim!! 🤣 "Life doesnt happen to you, life happens for you" Remember that and remember that you are not alome. If you ever want to talk just click on my little profile picture there and message me on RUclips. I cant promise that I can help you. But I can promise that I will listen. Sometimes thats all people need. Take care everybody and remember what I said. You got this!
I’m a 61-year-old man had a stroke and now I’m legally blind. Thank you for what you’re doing. People always say to me you’re pretending to be blind you’re not blind even my own kids think I’m exaggerating and I feels frustrated and sad and heartbroken but you go with the flow my right eye is scarred, so I’m totally blind on that one except for the ends of my eyes like you said in my right eye hopefully when they do my third surgery, I can see better and start my life over again again, thank you I put you on my Facebook to explain to people I’m not lazy or trying to act and it hurts when people judge me
Oh thank you for talking about tthe frustration and all the other feelings that go on with worsending vision loss. Finally some one talks about it!! I'm 79 and used to be super independent. I think the loss of driving my own car is the biggest one. I have AMD and that business of waking up to worse eyesight is a reach punch in the gut. I honesty still would have been working but I'm a bookkeeper. Was. I'm grateful to you for being a voicce in this wilderness of "Why are you depressed? Can't you do this, can't you do that..." Thank you.
The 🐐. No disrespect to any other VIP YTuber but nobody captures and communicates the overall blind experience as well as you. You brought it. Tossed in a lil story time too I’m here for it. I vote tips and tricks.
I’ve always admired your transparency living with this disease. I love that you’re so resilient about being legally blind. Although I don’t suffer from vision loss, I’ve been battling with migraines that debilitate my vision at times and I must wear glasses and shades all the time. Plus I learned about the triple tap on iPhone from you. You don’t understand how much I appreciate that feature especially during an episode. Sending you love and hugs 💕
hey love, I don't know how you do it either... the way you've described it it seems really intense. I'm glad that throwback tip helps you when you need. It's so sad they haven't sorted out a solution for you hope they do one day
I have RP- you nailed it! Sometimes, when people try to help me, they’ll say “I don’t know what you can see“ and I always say “I don’t know what I can see sometimes!“ i bought a T-shirt from The Blind Life that says: “I can see but I can’t - its complicated”! 😍😍😎
How crazy is this...I got my 2nd opinion about Stargardts and have been trying to figure out what to do. Ive been in IT for 24 yrs and its getting harder and harder to drive into work so been wondering what I can do for income. Thanks for this
I thank you so much for expressing this it's everything I go through on a day to day basis it's nice to have someone who exactly understands what you are going through. THANK YOU!
Fan from NZ! 6/60 Aniridia +Nystagmus, really description of levels of sight are incredible! 42 years old and I'm now going to know "smooth" is the best way to describe it! 🍻
Love your video!!! As someone who started struggling with that f… disease before you were born ((as you know…) I can only say: Great description! Things like the decision to either pretend making eye-contact with - or be able to see the face of the person you’re talking to is hard to understand for “outsiders”.
yes, truthgully I tried my best to explain but as you know I don't think one can truly understand the feeling of meeting new people or trying to see familiar faces, it's just different
I go through the same thing. I get frustrated all the time. I just keep giving God the glory and remember that he always with me. It helps me to remain positive and humble. I want to thank you for positive light. Keep allowimg God to use you to inspire others like us. Thank you and God bless!!
It's so easy and natural to get frustrated. It's part of the process I'm glad you are not denying yourself of it but also not staying in that state either
Thank you for this informative video and being transparent. I would never understand the struggles that you go through each and everyday because the only problem that I had with my eyes is having little deep perception and wearing an eye patch with my glasses when w was younger. I hope that one day an Optometrist tells you that they have a procedure or medication to reverse or cure your eye disease. For the next video, I hope it is about how you make the content. ✌️🇧🇷✌️🇧🇷✌️✌️👍
Wow! This truly blessed me and I love how you explained your visual capabilities. I have ocular histoplasmosis and have scarring in the center of my retinas. My friends and family have all asked the same questions lol. You truly are an inspiration. Thank you
Perfectly explained, I’ve shared one of your videos with family and friends as I was tired of trying to explain how I see. Everything in this video on point to how I’m feeling lately. Last year I learned the basic of braille’s, how to use the white cane and other helpful techniques from my local center for the blind. I don’t use the cane because of people only thinking you have to be totally blind to use, and how can you see this or that. Anyway I can keep going…. As always love your content keep doing what you do. 💕🦋
hey love thanks for the support. Glad my videos are helping you explain cuz I know how that goes 😄 anytime I meet someone new but it's funny, the people we know seem to forget and need a refresher course too LOL glad you're learning braille hope it's helping you feel more adjusted
The way I am over here nodding in agreement. So I am your fraternal sister with RP. 🤣 My vote is for tips, tricks or tactics. Thank you as always for your vulnerability.
I was born with retinitis pigmentosa and I just be depressed I can’t do what everybody around m does ,I’m now 22 still feeling the same but now I gotta fake being happy so my family won’t go out of their way to feel sorry for me ,I can tell it’s more of an inconvenience to have to drive me places etc I also don’t wanna bother with my problems because we all have them so I won’t lay mines on them, I just feel lost in the mix, everything i over doing requires vision , I know it’s bad because I be wishing death upon myself sometimes ,I’m getting older and now I’m just lost on what my future will look like, I be stressing on a daily, everything I do on a daily bases is a struggle compared to others doing it with ease, thank you.
hey it's natural. Life is tricky and life, legally blind....well you know just day by day if you can seek out help form a professional. It's helped me. Puts things in perspective and remember every single people has a struggle maybe not as obvious or at the same time or for as long as you but there's no point in comparing because you never really know what others are going through. Just make it your mission to treat yourself well and do you best in spite of sight loss.
You are beautiful alisha you are perfect the way you are you are awesome I never heard of your eye desiese before I found you channels love you so much very interesting video
I have retinopathy of prematurely and have low vision my visual acuity is 20/320. I understand spectacles dont help much it makes it 20/200 that is it. I dont like the term legally blind lol In india low vision is used more often This is the firsr video ive watched of yours thats great!
hey love sorry to hear you're going through such a rapid deterioration of vision. I recently posted a video on the topic. I also have a Sight Series if you're a youtube member on living independently, relationships, nutrition, school work and more
living with Stargardt’s - I in order to make good, I contact with people, practice what we call artificial gays. Have a sighted person stand across from you at different distances. Move your. eyes to where you think you are making good eye contact. Have the sighted person, watch your eyes and guide you as to what is the best position for you to look. Practice this often! Obviously, when you really want to see someone., you will have to quickly go on it to the side, and then back to the center again! I had to learn this is a family counselor, making eye contact with each member of a family that I was counseling. I also trained interns to do artificial gaze. Tom Perski
I love your videos I a blind Christian rapper call special needs biblical Christian rapper I member of blind squad records I am legally blind as well there is a saying we love to say blind squad family for life
@@alishainc yes, it is to the point where I’m willing to not even associate myself when people joke in that manner because it’s like a piece of my independence is being stolen away from me and people are joking about it like it’s a game to me

Often I get "you don't look like a blind person". Then I'll ask what does a blind person look like smh. Thank you for this!!
What kind of technology do you use to assist you? Did someone/organization help you get a grasp of it like a course of some kind or did you have to learn everything gradually on your own?
I have Corneal Transplant. I was going completely blind
I'm so glad they were able to do that for you!

LMFAO I never thought about that but i's so trueeeeee
Im legally blind but i don't have peripheral vision
There's so many different expressions of legal blindness. People with RP usually have that
Please tips
I have a Sight Series here on Membership and on Patreon
I have RP

So. Basically you see motion.
no I can see things without as much details as I did before the disease
As a visually impaired man, I can do things, but it’s a challenge sometimes just go to work with what I got. I will say the hard part about being visually impaired is not able to drive yourself to and from places some people will go crazy without that luxury in life
Hi there, how are you doing? Are you at acceptable stage?
I think acceptance is a process that you constantly adjust to
You don't use prescription glasses? Why don't you? It's supposed to be helpful, right?
No cure for us😭
maybe one day
