One thing that Hollow Knight does is actually make you feel good about the fights, because a lot of games recently make you feel bad for killing certain characters and its just refreshing to gain the respect of your opponents after a fight
Myla
@@DandyDoondin ngl I never saw that she got infected when I played. shes an exception tho
I mean this game also makes you feel bad about killing certain characters too.
Broken Vessel, Gruz Mother, Marissa (And most ghosts in Spirit Glade), Maggots, False Champion, Shrumelings, Myla, and God Tamer, all have elements that are likely there to make the player feel guilty.
In the lore the player might be justified and the player might not feel guilty, but it still counts.
@@whatamidoingwithmylifeidk3927 myla is a good example, but i personally hated the maggots and loved killing false champion

This is my favorite boss in the game just due to how well-designed it is, it rewards patience and will shut you down if you try to rush things. It feels great to fight this boss in a first playthrough and finally beat it, I got so much better at the game after fighting them.
0:38 - 1:08 gives me the chills everytime
Same bro same...
I struggled a lot in this fight but it was so enjoyable and it turned out to be one of my best and fav bosses after I finished the game!
+Respect
It's literally the first boss i had difficulty beating, on the other ones maybe 2 or 3 tries but I was doing pretty good and then the mantis lords probably took me about 10 tries but all the while it was fun and satisfying! Those tense high reflects fights are my favourite, like broken vessel and hornet
the opposite for me but not it was probably one of the easiest bosses imo but also my favorite boss cuz they only got like 3 attacks its really easy to learn their patterns
At first I thought this was a meh game.
Then the lords came.
And I have been in love with the game ever since.
one of the best battles in the game
@Student Ethan Quinn-Garner *Oh*
Hey, at least you're still alive, that's good news, right?
This is definitely one of my favorite boss fights from the game. I was getting good at the fight to the point I got a bit overconfident and died to the first lord. A test of patience, and pure skill.
Was it a bad idea to face the mantis lords before I even got into the city of tears. I had shaman stone tho (which carried.)
@@woolguide1385 bro spells are almost useless in this fight. most of them you get at that point just kill you and the only usefull one is howling wraiths at that one attack. also i think shaman stone is one of the worst charms for me lmao
@@hollowknightenjoyerWith Shaman Stone spells are rarely useless.
Also you do get some window to use spells the mantis lords, unless you gotta focus all the time cuz of getting hit and prefer to use your soul on that...which could be common considering it is one of the first fights.
This is 8 months old, so you must have probably realized that by now anyways lol
@@YeahItsJustZ no? Mantis Lords have attack opening of around half a second, and spells take up like three thirds of one. Of course, if you do use spells well in that fight, I salute you, but still, it's really hard and usually gets you hit.

This one was the fight that got me into stopping clashing bosses without a plan, beforehead my only strategy was "Smash it till is dead and pray you get enough SOUL to heal once it stops" but here i learned every boss has a pattern and as soon as i realized theirs every fight onward felt like a rythm game without prompts
This isn't even a fight, this is a DUEL OF HONOR.
Oh, so that's why my playlist was missing so much all of a sudden
This has to be one of the best fights in the whole game, even more than the battle against zote

Debatable
Ah yes, the theme of my favourite boss fight in this game. I love it when I finally understand a bosses attack pattern and this fight really delivers on that.
This boss' 2nd phase is the definition of "Double Trouble"
"How good do you want this to be?"
"Yes"
I still remember how I fought them first time. I got to their area probably too early and I wasn't the best fighter back then (not to mention I was playing on poor keyboard, which isn't the best tool for playing HK). The struggle I felt when I had to fight with them... It was really a tough battle for me. I was trying over and over, few days of playing, trying to defeat them. And finally, when I defeated the last one, I was like "HELL YEAH I'M GONNA KILL YOU SO HARD", I was sooo ready to get my revenge on them. But after the battle they didn't die. They stood and... bowed to me? I suddenly felt a respect from them, that they appreciated my fight. I felt so honored that even if they gave me a really hard time - they respected me, as the fighter.
That was honestly one of my favorite memories from all the games I've ever played
Got hollow knight quite recently, even though I've Been wanting it since like early 2020, the most recent boss I have faced is the mantis lords and it's theme is scary yet so insanely epik
This fight was badass. Difficult enough to take a few attempts, but not so difficult that a Joycon ends up lodged in your flat screen, close enough to the nearest bench that it's not a huge hassle to run back and try again, and just fun as hell. S tier boss
The amount of times I died to this boss was worth how much I heard those arpeggios, it’s like a medieval thunderstruck.
First time I went to this boss, I didn't even knew they were optional boss and you had to choose wether you wanted to start the fight, anyway I accidentally did and with the energetic start of the ost it jumpscared me.
Now this ost sticks with me
Cool, this soundtrack constantly switches between 3/4, 6/4 and 6/8 time signature. The main difference between the three is the emphasis on the melody and how the measure (bar) is structured.
3/4 always sounds like this. The emphasis (capital X) happens every 2 8th notes:
X-x-X-x-X-x
6/8 is technically the same as 3/4 but instead of 3 groups of 2 8th Notes you have 2 groups of 3 8th Notes. The emphasis now happens every 3 8th notes instead of two:
X-x-x-X-x-x
6/4 technically is 2 3/4 bars but structured differently and thus put into one huge bar. You have multiple options you can go for, for example 4/4+2/4, 5/4+1/4 or 7/8+5/8 etc...
The soundtrack herefollows this structure:
X-x-x-x-X-x. This is a 6/4 bar consisting of one 4/4 bar and one 2/4 bar.
Now that we got this covered, let's jump to the time stamps:
from 0:00 to 0:09
3/4 [8x]
from 0:10 to 0:12
6/8 [2x] (notice how the strings slightly change their melody)
from 0:13 to 0:16
6/4 [2x] (the strings change their melody again, this time to a 4/4+2/4 structure)
from 0:17 to 0:21
3/4 [4x]
from 0:22 to 0:26
6/4 [2x]
from 0:27 to 0:37
3/4 [9x]
from 0:38 to 0:43

The best part about this fight is the fact that they fight you as a team, and not individually.
Though there is some bs sprinkled in here and there, its always guaranteed.
People saying this was a hard fight. Meanwhile, I encountered the lords so late I beat them first try no problem. It's amazing how different playthroughs can be
I encountered them pretty early but I kept dying so I'll come back in a few days when I've got some better stuff.

I encountered them late into the game like after monarch wings but before shadow dash, but I still died many many times and even lost a lot of geo.
I encountered them directly after getting mantis claw, and beat them first try. Im not even trying to brag or anything, I just don't see how this boss is hard. it was fun, but not super hard at all.
God this boss was so fun to fight.
I’ve never heard this much tremolo in my life tbh
It’s amazing
I only beat 1 boss on radiant difficulty when I got to godhome, and it was this one. When you learn the patterns, it’s very easy to do hitless, but god it’s so satisfying and so much fun

My favorite boss fight is that where you can excel if you learn your opponents and calculate your actions, or get wiped if you just go in swinging.
The Mantis Lords specifically exemplify that in a game where every boss exemplifies that.
When I realized that one variation of the double spin blade attack might allow me to just stand still in the middle, and then I tested it out on my next attempt and it worked, I felt so accomplished

This boss fight is really, really fun!
It took me around 10 tries to finally beat them, mostly because I kept jumping in phase 2 to avoid the spinny attacks that cross the stage.

No lie, I was close to giving up on this game til The Mantis Lords. This fight had me stay for the long haul.
Always loved the frenetic rhythm of this fight
Everybody gangsta till the lords stand up
I remember I was playing through the game for the first time (last month lol) and I came across them to fight them. I challenge them and how all three stand up in time with the music still resonates with me. Seriously, this track is a banger and the fight is more about skill, not brute force or cheese.

this is how it feels to go ultra instinct
Hats off if you fought them fair and square without spells
How is that fair? They get a long ranged attack and even double (triple in Godhome) team me. I think my Vengeful Spirits are valid.
I used the Hadouken Spirit (A.K.A VENGATIVE spirit) every time they threw a buzzsaw (Boomerang? DIstance attack yellow circle thing) at me
i defeated them without spell
0:55 - 1:15 is just so beautiful
I can still hear the shoo of the attacks
When all 3 stand up is just fear

Passing after beating the lords: "Yoo hello savages, it's me, ya boi"
i fouht like 6 hours for this fight idk why it gives me PTSD now
