    The only thing that makes me feel safe in south africa is my firearm. Not the police and not security.

    Its always the decent people who are disarmed. Gun ccontrol=only guvvament & criminals will have guns. We should seriously be supporting secession. Its only going to continue going South here. When it comes to safety and security we are the first responders, not the armed response or police - they are second responders. During the time it takes for second responders to respond if they respond we have to be able to respond and to do that we need to be equipped with the right tools that at least equal or surpass the attacker's tools.

    The trouble is we all know people who must not have guns, so some sort of control is nessesary, think of aggresive alcoholics etc.

    They should just license the person. Much easier and far more financially viable for government. (Import tax and much more expensive firearms) The only thing holding you back should be your wallet.

    Why do south africa not make open carry legal for a criminal to see a law binding citizen with a firearm the chance that he will strike becomes less whan his seeing nog firearm on the side of a law binding citizen

    • @NightL3gacy47
      @NightL3gacy47 5 часов назад +1

      My only concern with open carry is that it would probably make you a target. Let's just say a criminal sees you open-carrying, he could easily follow you to your home and target you for robbery, or straight up jump you wiht his friends to take your guns by force.
      Don't get me wrong, I think that if someone wants to open carry, they should absolutely be allowed to do so, I'd just personally rather conceal carry because I wouldn't want anyone to know I have a gun if I had one unless I have to use it to defend myself

    • @baaspietalpha2198
      @baaspietalpha2198 5 часов назад +1

      @NightL3gacy47 i understand or the SAPS can give you the options to open or conceal carry your firearm with ever makes you feel safe and can give you the fastest time to respond to a threat

    • @NightL3gacy47
      @NightL3gacy47 5 часов назад +1

      @@baaspietalpha2198 Definitely. At the end of it, I think it should completely be up to the owner, and the police shouldn't have a say in what you do with your firearm(s) or how many you can own as long as you use it responsibly

    I have visited SA on a few occasions, always staying in the Western Province, though did spend a few days in Johannesburg. My first visit was early in November, 30 years ago.
    I live in the UK.
    I am not an expert qualified to lecture any South African about anything. All I can speak of is through the experience of being a holiday maker with an enquiring mind.
    All the rights and wrongs in SA's systems of law, politics and life are more complex than I could, as a tourist, voice any opinions or lecture South Africans, ever.
    I cannot be judgemental or speak with authority despite my interest in how the Rainbow Nation operates. Nor would I want to.
    Firstly, to simply express an opinion that blames communism as a reason for endangering the safety of civilians with it's anti gun policies that reduce the ability of citizens to own weapons is not a communist issue.
    There is a difference between Communism and Socialism and to equate past regimes like Stalin, Chairman Mao and the like is not relevant to compare with SA's situation.
    South Africa has historically had Gun's available legally to the white population but when the non whites started to get them it became a problem for the whites.
    As much as they were for the non whites when most whites legally held them.
    I, as a visitor to SA asked some white SA friends whether it was advisable for me to apply for a licence to carry a firearm and learn how to use it. The 100% response was effectively, Never ever at all, it would get me killed a lot quicker than I would ever be killed if I was unarmed. The reasons given were numerous and convincing why it would be a terrible idea, including, speed of reaction times, absolute certainty to fire it in a split second without hesitation or the chance that the person I was aiming at had a concealed weapon under their shirt who wouldn't even reveal they were armed and put a bullet in my head when I was wasting my time thinking about whether to use it or not. I have had zero military training for using a firearm and other such reasons.
    Personally, gun's are not for me.
    I do believe that as the risk of the "bad" guys having firearms is very real, then the rights of all law abiding South African citizens to carry a deterrent must be allowed.
    If not, the last human right to defend oneself is taken away and the criminals have been given the advantage which will lead to a total breakdown of law and order.

      @boshoff. 9 часов назад +3

      On your second point about, carrying a gun being the quickest way you will die. This is why you need to train religiously. Have you seen the videos of criminals with guns? Criminals don't train. You see them holding their guns with one hand, closing their eyes and just showing their complete incompetence with guns.
      I have heard many stories of people who are alive today because of they knew how to handle their weapon and the situation.
      If you suck you suck. Your gun isn't going to save you just because you carry it. And you are irresponsible if you don't train regularly.
      And you don't need military training. Military training is for military conflict not for civilian self-defence. Two different situations needing way different training.

    Please change the title of the video. I'm tired of negativity about South Africa. Yes, guns are out of control in South Africa. But foreigners see titles like that and they don't see you as part of the knowledgeable and smart few in South Africa, they instead see ALL of us as dumb and out lawless.
    I've travelled abroad many times, and many foreigners think our country is just too dangerous to go to. And it's exactly because of video titles like THIS.
    And I know you won't change the title because we live in a democracy.

    • @RobinBosch-r8s

      Why should the title be changed when it's a fact we live in a dangerous society and some of us actually have experience horrible crimes committed onto us so this title is actually a reality for us who don't live in gated communities with 24 hrs security guards
